Army of True Salvation - Chapter 71:Cemetery
Geof and his groupmates were inside 7-Eleven after they got a hotel for their group. Their school was near their current location so they have claimed this place for themselves. Only their section survived the first day of the apocalypse and they were lucky to have survived thanks to Ray, their leader.
Geof was walking when suddenly, his attention got called.
“Geof!”
Their leader, Ray, shouted his name and immediately, he approached him. Ray was beside two of their classmates as well, as if awaiting for his orders.
“What is it,” Geof asked and Ray looked at him.
“I’d like you to check the possible locations we would pass through once we get beyond the bridge. Look for possible resources as well. I would be planning on our group’s escape,” he said and Geof nodded at him.
“Okay. Understood.” Ray smiled at him appreciatively when Geof did not question anything further, agreeing to his plans.
“It’s a good thing you agreed right of the bat,” Ray said, thanking him. “The two people with me will be coming with you,” he added and the three of them left as soon as possible.
They ran towards the location where the bridge is and climbed over some cars to go to the other side. A car crash had already happened and the aftermath seemed like a barrier between two places.
They climbed up some cars and saw that there were only a few zombies in sight. They could handle these zombies right away.
They put the silencer on their guns and they started shooting zombies from afar. Even though their guns had silencers, they still got the zombie’s attention.
Geof looked at his time and realized that it was already 7:23PM. He looked at his two comrades.
“Isn’t it that during this time, zombies can get wild,” he asked and the two guys looked at him.
“Yeah. So we have to be careful,” one said and they nodded at each other.
“Let’s just see what we can get for now, and the possible places we could visit,” Geof said and the two nodded. The three of them started running and they had already reached a place beyond the bridge.
The three of them saw a cemetery. The province’s climate today was cold, too. There was even fog surrounding them, so it gave off an eerie vibe as they looked at the cemetery in front of them. It reminded Geof of Resident Evil.
Geof looked at his comrades. “Are we going in,” he asked and the two did not respond. After some while, one spoke, breaking off the silence.
“Let’s try. Even though this is a cemetery, we may find something that is of use to us,” he reasoned and Geof nodded at him, understanding his point.
“Okay then. Let’s go.”
They slowly opened the cemetery’s gate and the trio walked inside slowly, with their guns in their hand.
The place was completely quiet and only their footsteps against the moist ground was heard. They heard leaves rustling as the wind blew from time to time. They could not see their surroundings clearly due to the fog so they stayed close together.
“Do we have a flashlight,” Geof asked and one of them searched their sling bag, got one, then turned it on.
They climbed up the stairs and was led to the middle most part of the cemetery. They looked around and they noticed that nothing important seemed to appear so they decided to give up exploring the cemetery.
“Nothing’s here. Let’s search another place,” Geof said in a whisper, enough for them to hear.
When they were going down the stairs, the two boys got surprised when one of them screamed in terror. They turned to look at him and their eyes widened when they saw a hand holding onto his foot. Geof’s body started to tremble.
The dead rose from their graves!
