Arnie In The World Of Centaurs - Chapter 4 Chapter 1
The next day, Arnie’s friends gathered together early in front of their house. Obet is there bearing two chickens with him, Ruel carry a plastic of rice and Marcial is holding two bottles of sodas ( soft drinks)
Jinie: Arnie, I bring pots and casserole I also have vetsin ( food seasoning ) and salt here. Helen bought fish sauce and soy sauce. Don’t forget to bring scoops and bowls for the soups. Marcial is going to get some banana leaves later so we could eat on it later.
Ah, okay I’ve already prepared everything we need, I’ll double-check it to see if I forgot anything. Arnie answered
By the way, do come here early tomorrow. Mom is inviting us to go to the falls. Tomorrow let’s swim and eat there. They pick young jackfruit at the farm we’re going to cook it with coconut milk. We also have some dried labahita ( surgeonfish) for it. Mom asked my aunt Orya to buy it yesterday in the market.
Every Saturday and Wednesday are the market day in the town of Indang, So the people in their barrio bought much fish and cook it with their local vinegar, taken from the flower’s palm sap of the sugar palm tree.
Sometimes, they also butcher a native chicken from the farm. They also buy dried sapsap (slipmouth fish ) Arnie’s favorite dish, she dipped it in vinegar with many garlic and chili.
Oh!!! That’s good news!!! Marcial and Obet said at the same time.
Where is Jr, Arnie??? isn’t he coming with us??? Marcial hastily asked.
Arnie: he’s coming… I think he’s upstairs, preparing his clothes.
At the river, there are some people already swimming. They decided to go to Sabang to avoid those numerous people who came to Bigaan for a swim.
Helen and Arnie went to get snails and eatable ferns together while Jr and Marcial brought their fish hook to go fishing while trying to catch some crab under the rocks.
Lorna, Jinie and Essie were assigned to cook the rice and the tinola ( chicken soup )
They already put the bottles of coke under the cold water that Marcial brought to cool.
Obet, Arnie, Helen… you’ve picked so many snails and ferns… why don’t we cook it with coconut milk tonight at Arnie’s house? We don’t have any pots to use to cook it with,
anyway.
I’ll bring dried slipmouth fish(sapsap) at your house, we also have stewed in vinegar shoemaker fish ( isdang sapatero ) that my mother bought in the market.Owel said
