Arranged Marriage To The Princess Of The Red Scorpions - Chapter 239
After they got out of the water, Samuel ended up giving Lena his short since it was still dry unlike hers. He had offered her his pants as well, but she rejected those as she already knew that they would be far too large for her. She was just going to deal with the ones she had one for the time being until they went back. The warm air and sun might be enough to dry them on the way back.
The princess ended typing her hair back with some of the rope that she had used to secure the picnic basket on to the motorcycle. It was pink which she wasn’t thrilled about, but it was better than letting her wet hair keep sticking to the sides of her face.
Her fiancé had enjoyed it too much to offer her an honest apology for what he had done. If he had the opportunity at another point, he would do the same thing all over again. He was certain that his affectionate nature would help the other to not remain upset at him for too long.
Besides, even if she hadn’t enjoyed it all that much, there were a number of people on the beach who had seemed to think that their charades were amusing and fun to watch. Lena had only noticed it after they got out of the water. There were a number of people who were smiling or watching them with amused expressions. Mostly older couples or mothers and a few younger guys who perhaps thought it would be fun to try with their significant other. Whatever the reason, the princess wasn’t exactly thrilled about the attention.
Samuel had insisted on going to get their basket for lunch himself while Lena stayed wrapped up in one of the beach towels that they had brought with them. It wasn’t like she needed to worry about the cold or anything of the sort, she knew it was just him trying to be nice after what happened.
They had decided not to bring a blanket since they were already going to be spread out on the beach towels. This left room for them to pack things in a more orderly fashion that reduced the risk of spills or loss.
“What do you want to drink?” He asked the princess as he began to set everything out carefully. He was the one who had made most everything for the two of them and thus knew which items were for whom.
“Juice.” The princess replied as she watched him. The only thing that she really recognized as being familiar was the sandwiches and sausage rolls. There was some other things that reminded her of hand pies but she wasn’t certain about and a salad that consisted of pasta and beans that she was fairly certain she hadn’t had before.
“Here.” He said as he handed her the juice before pulling another container out.
“There weren’t a lot of sweet things that I could make to take with us, but I thought that you might like this.” Samuel told her as he showed her the small two cup container.
“Rice pudding?” she checked after staring at it for a moment trying to determine what it was.
“Yeah, it’s not something that needs to be kept too chilled in order for it to taste good or not set up properly.” He explained as he put it down with everything her else. Lena’s eyes stayed glued to the container even as it moved. It had been years since the last time that she had that. In fact, she didn’t think that she had touched it since her mother had passed away.
“hm” was all she said to acknowledge she heard the other before turning her attention back to the other food. No use in being sentimental at the current moment in time. She would eat it because her fiancé had made it for her.
The rest of the food had to come first though. The sandwiches were what Samuel decided to start with. One being egg salad and the other a tuna melt. He only made one of each and split them in half so each of them could have a half of both.
Neither of them tasted bad though the princess couldn’t remember a time where she had either. Most of the meat the staff cooked with was more expensive and higher class. Tuna melt would have been considered below her level to eat according to Ryan. He always kept a particular food standard within the kitchen so that he wouldn’t risk upsetting anyone within the Red Scorpion family by making anything that wasn’t their taste.
The hand pies weren’t bad either. Samuel had filled them with cheese and meat and managed to cook them just right without burning them. The only thing that Lena wasn’t thrilled about was the salad. It wasn’t bad, she just didn’t think that the flavors went that well together.
She ate her full serving without say anything about it knowing that it would be rude not to. It wasn’t inedible after all, it was just a flavor issue. Finishing it meant that she could get to what she really wanted which was the rice pudding.
Her fiancé only took a small portion for himself and gave the majority of it to her. The juice was plenty sweet on it’s own that he didn’t need too much of anything else sweet to be satisfied. In hindsight, he had probably ended up packing far more food than they needed. He had just anticipated before the turn of events that they would end up eating twice while they were there instead of just once.
Everything still tasted good either way. He felt like it was made more enjoyable by the comfortable weather that was neither too warm or cold for the time of year. He knew though that they would have to be getting back sooner rather than later in order to avoid driving back in the dark.
The princess wasn’t ready to leave quite yet though. They had just eaten and she wanted to take some time to rest before she had to drive back. Falling into a food coma on the way back would be a very dangerous thing.
She was feeling rather tired anyways after what had happened between her and Samuel in the ocean and before that. Taking a nap before heading back might not have been the worst idea that she had. The other could join her if he wanted or do something else to entertain himself while she slept off everything that she had eaten once things were cleaned up.
One thing that she could take away from the day was that even after going into the ocean with her fiancé, she still didn’t like the water anymore than she had in the past. Nor did she feel the need to think about doing that kind of thing with the other again in the future. She would be very happy to stay on dry land while he went out and enjoyed himself.. The sun and sand were far more comfortable than water would ever be to her.
