Ascenders Rift - Chapter 262
When Evan left the cabin, the others couldn’t help but notice his change in aura, adding together with the dazzling blood-red armor over his torso, mixed with an assortment of his previous equipment, it made him emanate a powerful presence.
“Hehe, Evan, those sayings were right, it’s the very clothes that maketh the man, that armor from Valoz truly fits you well, you look like those boy toys in Korean films.”
Joe said with a light laugh as he saw Evan.
Rick chuckled a bit at those words, finding it a bit humorous; even Breya, who wanted to keep focused, couldn’t help but laugh.
Layla snickered at Evan, but Evan merely shook his head as he stared at Joe up and down, eyeing the fine gear on his body as he replied with a sly smirk, “Oh my, I must say, Joe, you’re looking better than even me. You have to be careful, spending so much MTP to look so sharp, you never know when an enchanted woman might strike at you unguarded.”
“Hmph! What do I have fear? Even if no armor, my meat is enough to put up a resistance, heh, if they dare to take a bite at me, they’ll have to worry about me striking back, this belly of mine will swallow them whole.”
Evan chuckled at this, but his eyes showed a sly and sinister look as he thought to himself, ‘Yes, that’s it, Joe, you’ve said the right words.’
As expected, unware to Joe, Breya, who had been eavesdropping instead of keeping an eye out, had a shocked look on her face.
‘Swallow them whole, swallow them whole!’
Joe’s words resounded at the core of her mind causing her to fall into a slight daze. After a short while, she regained her normal senses, but the look in her eyes was different. Initially, she had been holding off on using Evan’s special medicine, but now she was determined to use it sooner.
‘I want to see who you’re going to swallow when I have marked you!’
Breya thought a set of bold eyes; if Angeline were here, she would have been shocked as she didn’t know her education had led Breya in another direction. Nevertheless, regardless of Breya’s thoughts, no one else had the time to notice as they now trained their eyes onto the sea.
There was a loud rumble in front of the ship as the oceans kicked up high waves as if being disturbed by something catastrophic.
“This… oh no!” Breya exclaimed as she once again looked at the tablet, only the see that many orange and red dots surrounded the entire ship.
Three giant big red dots were in front of them, causing the ocean to form giant waves as if some monsters were preparing to unveil themselves.
“They’ve arrived pretty quick; everyone, you should be ready for battle,” Evan said with a calm tone, but he still unsheathed both his Havengaurd and his newly awakened Hell Ashura Blade despite his ease.
“Ha, I’m ready already, leave the biggest one to me!” Joe said with bright eyes as he stared at the most significant wave.
Rick clicked his teeth as he wanted that one, but he didn’t bother to say anything; he was working hard to keep a certain level of peace around Joe.
Emilia giggled at this from the side; knowing his thoughts, she raised her slender palms calling out her golden bow as the look in her eyes turned sharp.
“Evan, do you need me to help?” Layla said as her purple eyes shone brightly; her back had a few transparent wings that seemed as if they were about to congeal into reality.
Evan shook his head and replied, “No, this one shouldn’t be much trouble. Besides, you’ll need to lead Joe and the others against one of the Calamities later, so keep yourself in peak condition.”
“Alright,” Layla replied, she now knew her current strength and power very well, as such she didn’t dare to overuse it.
At this time, Evan’s eyes narrowed as he glared at their front; following his eyes, the waves that rose high into the air exploded as a few giant scaley serpent-like creatures appeared.
Some ranged from a few dozen meters, with the three most prominent being a hundred meters large with a diameter being in the dozens.
The instant these monstrosities appeared, they raised their heads to the sky and roared, striving to announce their presence to the watery world.
With a bang, the ocean shook even further, sending more colossal waves towards the tiny ship, but oddly enough, no matter how many waves crashed towards Evan and the others, they all bounced back as if they had hit into an invisible wall.
‘I’m so glad Evan has that ability,’ Joe thought as he looked at the towering waves which would have devoured them, back away with ease.
The others also thought the same, but they soon got a clear look at the sea monsters before them. Once this happened, a strange scene occurred; rather than showing fear, the looks on their faces shifted from shock to contemplating then tease.
“Haha, to think it’s that darn fellow, I wouldn’t have thought we’d see him again!” Joe exclaimed with a strange tone.
“Hmph! I don’t mind it at all; it’s about time we paid him back for our last encounter,” Rick added with a hint of anger in his tone.
“Right,” The normally peaceful, loving, and gentle Emilia said, her beautiful blue eyes showing a clear animosity to the monster.
Breya’s eyes still showed surprise as she wondered what the odds of them meeting this being again were, but Evan didn’t seem to mind it; he spoke in a soft tone.
“Since it’s only him, and what seem like his brothers, then you guys can handle it.”
Eva took a seat with Layla on the nearby chairs after saying those words, looking as if observing a show.
Joe and Rick gave him a scornful look, but they said nothing in the end.
At this time, the monsters had stopped roaring, glaring at the direction of Evan’s party with fury as they noticed that some kind of power had obstructed waves.
Suddenly, the three most giant scaly snake-like monsters made a moving motion, lowering their heads towards the tiny ship that dared to face them and their horde.
However, as they did this, one of these monsters should show a shocked expression, as if he saw something he never expected to see again.
“ITS YOU WRETCHED HUUUMAAAAANNNNSSSSS!!!!”
His enraged voice sounded across the oceans startling even the other two giant sea monsters at his side, as a tense air arose.
