Ascenders Rift - Chapter 264
As the bright cloud of deadly energies swept towards all directions, Joe’s eyes shone as he lifted his arc shield while standing at the edge of the deck. His meaty arm bulged as if his fat had converted into muscle when he jumped from the ship into the air.
“You darn snake, don’t blame us for being ruthless, Arc Barrier!”
Following Joe’s shout, his body released his bright earthen-colored battle energy, condensing it into his Arc Shield which expanded by a few dozen meters in size, shielding all of the ship and their surrounding vicinity.
After doing this, Joe’s eyes turned to Rick, who stood on the waters with his body glowing in blue lights. He then spoke, “I’ve done my part, now hurry and finish them! Sigh… I’m so hungry… some sea snake meat would sure taste nice before we go to our deaths on that continent.”
Emilia glared at Joe and cursed, “Big Brother, what are you saying?”
Breya snickered at this, knowing he was only joking whole Layla didn’t seem to mind. On the other hand, Evan had a sad flicker in his eyes, which he soon pressed down.
Layla glanced at him and rubbed his arm; she could easily sense his mood, even more so now that she’d completely awakened her heritage. Evan gave her a look and smiled, grasping her hand in silence.
At this time, Rick snorted at Joe’s words, not bothering to reply to him, he stared at his new spear with a smile, gripping its shaft tightly as he thought to himself.
‘You cost me more than half of my MTP’s; so let’s see what you can do.’
While Rick powered up, the Water Snake Brothers stared at each of their actions with mock on their faces as they saw the clumps of poison breath nearing them, being only seconds away from turning them into bones.
“Your efforts are futile, die together and fall into the deeps…” The Water Snake King said as his eyes shone with pure hatred.
The other brothers also shared his sentiment as they lost valuable kin to Rick’s prior attack. They looked forward even more to seeing Rick suffer from the toxic breath and were even eagerly waiting to save him so that they can torture him to death.
Moments later, the poison smog had finally crushed upon Evan and the others, the sizzling sound much like that of acid tearing into solid, sounding no different from music to the Water Snake Brothers. However, after a short while of waiting, they began to show odd looks as they couldn’t hear any sounds of wailing from their enemies.
“This… what’s happening? Where is…?” The Water Snake King was about to say something, but sadly, it couldn’t finish its words due to the sudden change.
A bright blue light exploded from the smog’s center with a loud bang, pushing it away by few meters. Rick could now be noticed at the center of this area with his spear held upward, aiming for the Water Snake Brothers heads.
The instant they saw this, the Water Snake Brothers grew alarmed, they knew just how powerful their combined might could be, and as such, for someone to perform such a feat, it could only mean on the result.
‘Flee!’ The Water Snake Brothers thought, drawing the same conclusion. They knew that if they were attacked, they would without a doubt perish. Yet, sadly, their actions were a bit too late.
“Blue Python Breath!”
Rick yelled as he leaped from the ocean into the sky; his figure soon after became shrouded by an illusory blue python that was more than ten times the size of his frame.
Like a flash of light, Rick had appeared in front of the panicked Water Snake Brother’s. The trio wanted to say something, but the python had already opened its mouth, releasing a breath of icy cold energies that froze them, and the surrounding hundred meters of the ocean completely.
“Noooo!” The Water Snake King yelled in fear, regret, and anger; sadly, it too was frozen with his brothers unable to do anything.
Rick didn’t care for his feelings; he twirled his spear and fired countless light spear beams, which broke their bodies into multiple pieces that crashed into the ocean.
Looking at his handiwork with an indifferent look, Rick scanned the ocean for loot before making a big leap, soon after appearing on the ship’s deck with ease.
During the time Rick was fighting, Joe’s shield easily erased the poison smog’s effects; they looked at the scene before them with calmness having ended the battle.
“That was quick; got anything good?” Evan asked Rick with a smile.
Rick glanced at him before tossing a small ring down as he replied, “Just a useless Rank 1 Ring, you guys can have it.”
“No need.” The others replied, showing no apparent interest; Rick shrugged before putting it away as if it was nothing.
Evan scanned the surroundings before he looked at Breya to confirm his senses; Breya checked the tablet and spoke, “All clear.”
“Good, then let’s continue. We need to quickly reach that World Tree; Milon and the others should also be catching up soon. My only worry now is whether or not those of the three forces are already there.”
Evan said as he stared off into the distance, looking towards the nearing continent with the tree whose branches scattered across the entire realm.
“So what? It’s not like we can avoid them; it’s better if they’re already competing against each other, save’s us the trouble of finding them, and makes it easier to form an ambush.” Rick said on the side, the others also agreed with his words.
“You may be right, ha, come on, let’s push this ship’s speed to the max, we must arrive on that continent before the day ends!”
Evan said with a calm tone.
Layla and the others showed flickering eyes; their attention now focused before them. Breya nodded as she moved the lever for the energy turbines causing the ship to suddenly increase in speed, swooshing across the ocean as it once again made its way towards the horizon.
