Ascension of the Master Assassin - Chapter 7: Encounter with Silverfox
Now that the wolf’s attacking pattern had been thoroughly figured out by Venn, it was now akin to a practice dummy.
After dodging yet another strike from the wolf, Venn dealt a quick successive blow to the wolf.
-15, -32
[Double Stab Learned. (Level 1 Mastery) Stabbing the target twice in quick succession will deal 110% and 120% damage to the target.]

[Low Kick Learned. (Level 1 Mastery) Kicking the target’s vulnerable spot as a counterattack will inflict a dazed status to the target lasting 0.2 second.]
The battle continued on for a while in such a state until the wolf’s HP bar reached one-tenth of its original. When the wolf determined that it wasn’t going to defeat Venn, it ran away with its tail between its legs without hesitation.
Unwilling to see his first battle to end in such a way, Venn gave chase and threw the dagger in his hand, striking the wolf in its abdomen.
“Ueew…”
With a last powerless howl, the wolf dropped to the ground and disintegrated into the air, leaving nothing behind as loot.
[Knife Throwing Learned. (Level 1 Mastery) Deal 25% damage when throwing a knife/dagger in hand.]
[Exp Gained: 60 x 2, Copper Coins Gained: 6]
[You’ve leveled up!]
After allocating all his free stats points that he gained to agility after leveling up, he proceeded back to his strategy of luring lone wolf again.
Though the training speed was much slower compared to the others that were forming parties, he didn’t mind it. His sage mode had made up for it by doubling the experience points gained, essentially doubling his training speed.
After slaughtering a dozen wolves using the same method, he began to challenge fighting three wolves simultaneously at the same time to push himself further.
Although the level of difficulty increased greatly as the mud wolves lunged at him from all directions with their fangs bared, he still managed to defeat them by systematically avoiding their attacks and counter attacking at the perfect time.
By the end of an 8 hour killing spree, he had leveled up to level 6, with 33 wolves pelts, 86 wolves fangs and 132 copper coins.

“Whew.” Venn wiped away the buckets of sweat accumulated on his forehead shortly after he dealt the finishing blow to the mud wolf that he was currently battling.
At the same time in doing so, his knees buckled and he fell to the solid ground facing-up, thoroughly exhausted.
420 wolves was his record after a 10 hours non-stop marathon training session at the mud wolves dens. Although he was both mentally and physically exhausted as evident from his heavy panting, the arc of the corner of his mouth couldn’t help but curve upwards when he thought about the progress that he was making.
“Everything’s going smoothly.” Venn smiled.
He was now level 7 with all of his stats points allocated to agility. Agility is linked to attack speed, movement speed and reaction speed. The higher the agility is, the easier it is to dodge an enemy attack and more likely you are to hit the enemy, and when any basic stats reaches 20 points, players would reach a new heightened stage where they can control their body better.
As such, the training speed of his hunting session had been progressing even faster. To his knowledge, if he was to compare to his peers that started the game at the same time as him, he estimated that they would take at least 3 days of non-stop training to reach his level.
While Venn was taking a short break to recover his stamina however, a shadowy figure abruptly emerged from the woods into the clearing at a blinding speed.
Based on the direction that the figure was charging forward at, Venn was no doubt the target.
Startled by the sudden intrusion of someone, Venn remained calm and in one swift motion, got up from his feet with his arms crossed in a defensive attempt.
Their figures soon collided in a flash, and after the clanging sounds of metals colliding, damages of -40, -54, -3 appeared above Venn’s head.
It was a close call for Venn.
In the span of a short time, Venn’s life had fallen below 40%.
During the short exchange of blows, the shadowy figure that attacked him out of nowhere had struck him twice at the abdomen and his right arm while Venn was unable to find an opportunity to retaliate. Suffering damage, he winces in pain but still holds on and with a twist of his hand, he manages to stop his opponent’s third strike.
If Venn failed to parry the third strike from the figure’s dagger, he would be ejected from Heaven Descent and remove his virtual helmet angrily by now.
Nonetheless, although Venn managed to survive the initial clash, the current situation he was in didn’t get any better. Bullets of cold sweats were profusely flowing down his back as he got a good look at the person that sneaked up on him.
With their daggers interlocked, the tall and slender figure of a young lady stood in close proximity to Venn, their faces only inches apart.
The lady was covered in a tight-fitting black suit from head to toe, wearing a fox mask over her face, concealing her identity. But even so, her prominent shoulder-length bob silver hair was enough information for Venn to know who she was.
“Silverfox!” Venn exclaimed in surprise. He lamented his luck that a future top ten assassin lord of the game was targeting his life.
