Astrid The Hybrid Princess - Chapter 296 It Is About Time
CHAPTER 296
As soon as Cullen left Owen, he made his way towards Nova’s room to see her.
By the time he got to her door, he took in a deep breath, slowly released it before proceeding to knock on the door.
KPOR!
He had only knocked once and was about knocking the second time when the door swung open to reveal the beautiful maid who captured his heart.
Nova stood there with a sullen face as she stared at the man of her dreams. Something was wrong and he could tell, but what it was, he did not know.
Before Cullen could say anything or even utter a word of greeting, Nova took a leap and jumped into his arms.
Cullen was least prepared for this and almost fell due to the surprise but managed to steady himself and hug her back.
“Hey, Nova. What is wrong?” Cullen asked her when he noticed she began sniffing.
‘Wait is she crying?’ He asked himself inwardly and decided to pull her from his embrace to look at her but she held on to him tightly, not letting go for him to look at her.
In no time, Cullen could feel a wet patch on his chest through his clothes. ‘Of course, she is crying. What really happened to her? This is the first time I am seeing Nova like this.’
Since she did not want him to let go, he pulled her closer to himself and pressed his lips to her hair as her lovely smell assaulted his nostrils, further drowning him into her warmth.
“Oh, Nova. I have missed you so much, my love. I am sorry, sorry to have made you waited.” Cullen could only apologize and rub the small of her back soothingly in hope that it would help her.
After some minutes of hugging, Nova stopped crying and pulled away from his hug. Cullen reached his hands up to cup her face and gently wiped her tears away.
As much as she wanted to look at him, she couldn’t. She did not want him to see the pain in her eyes.
“Look at me Nova,” his deep voice called out softly in almost a whisper. At first, she hesitated but when he brushed his fingers on her lips, Nova raised her head and opened her eyes to look at him.
“Forever pretty. I am sorry dear. So sorry for making you shed a tear.”
The next thing Nova did, left Cullen stunned as he was not expecting her to react like that. As if driven by something, Nova stood on her toes and pressed her lips against Cullen’s.
It took Cullen some seconds to get his thoughts together and reciprocate her kiss.
As soon as his lips parted, her warm tongue slid into his mouth and she deepened the kiss. It was a kiss of so much passion. Just from the way she kissed him, Cullen knew whatever was wrong with her was deep.
It was as though that was the last time she was going to see him and she kissed him with all her being, pouring all her love into that one kiss.
After what seemed to be like forever, Cullen broke the kiss when they were getting out of breath so they could breathe well again.
“Wow, that was the best kiss of my life. Thank you, Nova.”
“That is because it conveyed all of my love for you.”
That was the first time Nova spoke to him since he returned. Her voice felt like magical singing birds to his ears and at the same time, the pain in them carried with it icicles that they used to pierce his heart as soon as he heard them.
Right then and there, all the hidden pain came rushing back within the next second and Cullen found out that his eyes began to water, further blurring his vision.
In between that blurred vision, he could see her cheeks moved upwards as a small charming smile broke out on her lips.
“Oh, Nova.”
Not wanting him to say anything to ruin the moment, Nova reached for his cheek and slightly pinched it with her smile still wide on her lips.
“Come in.”
She held his right hand and led him into her room.
By the time both of them were nicely seated on her bed facing each other, Cullen leaned in and held her hands in his. As soon as their eyes locked, he held her gaze; not blinking for fear that the moment would go within a single blink of his eyes.
Apparently, he blinked as he could not cheat nature for long. But he enjoyed watching her eyes open and close with every blink and how enchanting the feeling was just staring at her face and be drowned in her ocean light blue eyes.
“I missed you and I love you.” Cullen blurted out of the blue. Nova wasn’t expecting those words right now and it only ended up making her blush.
Right now her heartfelt calm. She felt a sense of relief wash through her soul at his confession. The dread that once enveloped her was now gone and replaced with unimaginable joy.
He was here, safe and sound with her. That was all that really mattered to her, his safety and his love.
And right now she got all of those, at least that was what her heart told her and she trusted her heart.
Nova smiled at him and was about confessing her love too, telling him how much she herself missed him when Cullen spoke first, forcing her to swallow up her words.
“I have something I need to tell you, Nova.”
