Astrid The Hybrid Princess - Chapter 324 It Cannot Happen
CHAPTER 324
“You like him.” Nerissa spat out calmly but loudly, not caring if the elf may hear her.
Astrid quickly looked at Jareth then back at her aunt and shot her the ‘hey be careful look, he is just right there.’
Aunt Nerissa could not hold in her laughter and simply let it out. Astrid looked so bloody cute right then. Hahaha, a youngster in love was so cute anyways.
“Aunt, yes I like him. I like y friends.”
“You know that is not what I am talking about,” Nerissa replied, suddenly becoming serious and sitting up straight.
“No, that is what you are talking about,” said Astrid, feigning ignorance and turning to look at the grasses.
“You really, really like him.”
“I do not.”
“Do not deny it or even think of lying to me. I know you more than you think. I have watched you grow for twenty years and counting now. I think I am very correct when I say, you have feelings for him.”
Astrid who was like a child caught red-handed in a vicious act lowered her head, scared to look her aunt in the eyes for the fear of what she might say.
Yes, without being told, she already knew it was a forbidden love. Their races where at war and she was a forbidden child, but that did not change the fact that Jareth had been nothing but kind and caring even though he puts on a certain coldness, he was still as gentle and loving on the inside.
Who wouldn’t fall for such a dashing young elf?
“That is cute, Astrid. I feared I would not get to see the day you fell in love because we were in hiding.”
“Aunt it is not like that.”
“Yea, it doesn’t matter now as you have feelings for the wrong person. I am sorry Astrid but it cannot happen.”
“What!” Her eyes flew open that instant.
“You have to let him go,” Nerissa added, more like repeated so it could dawn on her.
Astrid’s lips parted as her mouth fell open, unable to voice out the words that were about to come out.
She had tried to deny her feelings for him to her so that she would not tell her the words she wanted to hear.
It was one thing that Jareth still kept his feelings hidden and I was an even terrible thing for her to be forbidden from loving him by the lady she looked up to as her mother, father and guardian.
“Why are you still journeying with him this far, even until now?” Nerissa asked out of the blue.
“He is journeying on his own as well. Because he helped me, he was branded a traitor. There is no way he can go back now. So he decided to journey and see the realm before returning, in hopes that they may have forgotten the incident.”
“And you believe that?”
“I know it is hard to believe but, give him a chance and you would not regret doing so.”
“Aunt.”
“Let me finish. He can journey with us, but when we are getting close to Fortland, he must go. Your people would not stand for it, so you know.”
“I understand, thank you.”
“Also, if I notice one wrong move on his part, anything to endanger you or your mission, I would not hesitate to bring him down. I promise your mother I would protect you and if that includes shielding you from yourself, I would very much do so.”
“It won’t get to that.”
“For your sake, I hope you are right.”
“Thank you.”
“Do not thank me yet. I did not do anything and I know your mother would kill me for the fair share of even letting an elf come close to you.”
“Relax.”
“You are still young. Now scurry off, I know you have been dying to talk to him. Enjoy your friendship while it lasts. In due time you won’t be seeing more of him.”
“Okay.” With that said, she stood up from the small earth like chair Astrid made for them and was about walking over to them when Nerissa’s voice made her halt.
“Oh, and while you two are talking or doing whatever you youngsters do, send that lovely cute beast of yours over. I know he could use a good petting.”
Astrid smiled at her then nodded and left.
Oh yes! She got that right. Of course, Snow would love a good petting. Speaking of which, she had not had much of his time that day because of the change in event.
As she made her way over to where Jareth was, her mind flashed back to what her aunt said earlier. ‘Whatever you young ones do.’
There was no way in the realm they would do what youngsters did with her around.
If there was a possibility prior, I am afraid there wouldn’t anymore. While on one hand, Jareth wouldn’t dare even to play with her like he did the other day that made her angry, let alone do what youngsters did.
He knows she would kill him without being told. And there was the other hand, where Nerissa would virtually not stand for it or she would have to face Astrid’s mother when they meet her.
She let out another soft sigh for the umpteenth time that day and made her way over to the lonely duo.
Immediately Snow saw her, he got up and hurried over to where she was standing at a small distance away from them.
Jareth also turned his head knowing full well that she was the one. He had the urge to walk over to her and hug her, but he kicked against it in his mind and just watched her hug her beats and mumble something to it before little Snow scurried over to Nerissa.
