Astrid The Hybrid Princess - Chapter 338 Cyrena's Resolve
CHAPTER 338
~ERWINA’S CHAMBERS~
While Cullen was busy bathing himself in his carnal desire and pouring out all his heartfelt feelings into making love with Nova, he was unaware of the plot that was going on against him.
Sitting in the living room of Lady Erwina’s chambers was Erwina herself and opposite her was none other than her lovely brilliant, conspiring daughter.
It was already pretty late, but the thing Amelia had said to Cyrena left a big impression on herself and she had decided to inform her mother about it.
“Are you certain of what you are saying?” Erwina asked her daughter, giving her a stern look.
“Mother, I know what I am saying. It is like she is protecting him,” Cyrrean confirmed her words.
“Hmm, this is serious. We do not know their relationship.”
“True mother, but then again, her reply was ‘He is a good man and for that, I cannot kill him.’ I was stunned, mother. I do not know what to do again.”
“She went to the extent of refusing your order. That girl is daring and I can say that she is your best assassin so far, right.”
“Yes, mother.”
“Hmm,” Erwina placed her hand underneath her jaw as she tried to analyze the situation from another point of view. “It would only mean one thing, Cyrena.”
“What is that?” Cyrena asked while shifting out of her seat. Her eyes dimmed and her brows furrowed slightly. As she leaned forward, waiting to hear her mother’s thoughts.
“She has a stronger backing than yours and feels she does not need to fear you if she disobeys.”
“Mother, even I was shocked by her response. Time and time and again, she just won’t budge. I do not know how I am going to order her other than what I did.”
“You need to calm down, Cyrena. Things are running too fast with the way you are going at it.”
“But mother.”
Lady Erwina raised her hand to silence her daughter and closed her eyes. After Cyrena kept shut, she opened her eye back and looked at her.
“I understand. But you are forgetting something.”
“And that would be?”
“I had already warned Lorelei about it. So let us give it time and watch if she would indeed warn him or leave him be. If she fails to warn him and he acts against us again, then we can strike first.”
“But I had planned on using this opportunity to catch Amelia and get rid of her for good.”
At her words, Erwina’s eyes narrowed at her daughter. She was beginning to change and perhaps it was that Amelia had done her wrong but what wrong was that? She could not really place her thoughts and that had only gotten her irked.
Nevertheless, she tried her best not to show it to her daughter but rather, she looked calm while questioning Cyrena.
“Why are you so against her? What did she do to you? I thought she was your best and most loyal assassin.”
Neither did she tell her mother of her jealousy when she caught Void and Amelia fucking their brains out. Her mother would even kill her for having such thoughts towards him even though she knew it was wrong.
“Mother, for now, I cannot say. But I would get things done my way.”
“Whatever it is, Cyrena, be careful.”
“I will mother,” Cyrena assured her overbearing, conniving mother with a plastic smile on her face. “I will.”
Looking at her daughter now, Erwina did not know whether she was to cry at what or whom she had become.
It was plain as day she would not yield to her advice and still do what she was going to do. Her mind was already set in stone about the issue.
‘Cyrena.’
––––––––
Meanwhile, Jareth had gone and searched what he thought was thunder and had since returned. It was already pretty late and they decided to call it a night and resume their journey in the morning.
By the time they had finished setting up what little camp they could, with fire and roasting the rabbit Jarweth caught n his way back and had their fill, Nerissa took Astrid to a corner when Jareth went to get them some clean water to drink.
“Come here, Astrid. I need to talk to you.”
“Yes, Aunt.” Leaving Snow behind, both ladies made their way towards a tree not too far from where Snow was and began talking.
“Aunt, what is the matter? You seem dull this evening?” Astrid asked with a face full of concern as she stared at her aunt whose face was marred with worry.
“Aunt talk to me, you are scaring me with the way you are looking.”
Nerissa knew she was scared and that Astrid had every right to be as the news she was about telling her would not be a good one and she knew that it would hurt her very much.
“I am sorry that I have to break this to you, Astrid.”
“Just tell me, I can handle the news.”
“Good, brace yourself because there is no going back. This is you and this is your destiny. You need to face it head-on and remove distractions.”
“What are you saying, Aunt?”
“I know you are in love with Jareth.”
“Aunt…” She was about protesting but Nerissa would have none of it. Nerissa raised her hand in front of her chest, cutting Astrid short. She was not a baby that she would not notice the chemistry between these two.
No, she could see through them very well. She knew how her baby’s eyes held a certain sense of longing whenever she saw Jareth. It was as though he was so close, yet so far and away from her reach.
