Avoid Yandere Constellation - Chapter 37-2
If we were to use an analogy to describe the current situation, it’s no different than a boyfriend getting caught with his pants down by his girlfriend.
No, it could be even worse than that.
Thankfully, if his girlfriend is the only one involved, that’s a relief.
However, it turns out that not only did he get tangled up with another woman, but also with a cute daughter.
I feel like I want to die and return to the past, but is that even possible?
Everyone gathered here is stronger than me.
Before I even attempt suicide, it’s likely that I’ll be stopped, and even if I were to harm myself, having Anje by my side will undoubtedly help me recover from any injuries.
I glanced around nervously, beads of sweat forming on my forehead.
First, let’s hear from Eileen, who is staring at me suspiciously as if to say, ‘Explain yourself.’
And Anje and Riche keep staring at our hands, as if they didn’t hear what Kersey said.
Unlike the others, Skaya is making a thoughtful expression as she tries to understand the situation.
On the other hand, Kersey…
It seems that she’s feeling pretty good about herself for getting the best of me, with a disgustingly happy smile on her face as she looks at me.
Judging from her expression.
It seems like she’s saying “I’ll leave it up to you now.”
That brat won’t get any snacks for a while.
As I had those thoughts, Skaya spoke with a painfully awkward smile next to me.
“Ahahaha. Hey, there seems to be a lot that Kane wants to say to all of us. Let’s go inside the cafe and talk. Everyone’s looking at us.”
As if sensing our icy atmosphere, people passing by gave us a quick glance, and we nodded our heads in agreement and headed inside the cafe.
…
The cafe owner trembled as he spoke to us, sweat beading on his forehead.
“W-what w-would y-you l-like to o-order?”
“We’ll let you know once we decide.”
Anje replied with a gentle smile to the cafe owner’s question. The cafe owner nodded as if understanding, and quickly fled.
Then the cold atmosphere returned to our table.
Although no one was saying anything and everyone was silent, the situation felt like we were getting scolded.
‘I’d rather just vent my anger!’ I thought , but he held back because of the female companions with him, namely Riche, Eileen, and Anje, who were all silently competing for dominance and didn’t speak up. As we sat there in silence, Kersey, without a care, started babbling again.
“Dad, what snack are we getting?”
“I don’t have a daughter like you! You’re a worthless w**ch!!”
With those words, punched her in the head.
“Aargh!!”
“Hmph.”
After receiving my sense of justice, Kersey holds her swollen lip. Seeing this, Skaya lets out a deep sigh and speaks.
“So, can you explain what happened Kain? Didn’t you break up with Eileen? And how do the Saintess Anje know you?”
All eyes, except for Kersey’s, turned to me.
Feeling like I could be seriously misunderstood if I stayed silent, I explained about my promise with Eileen and the things that had happened with Anje, leaving out only the crucial details about Kersey.
If I didn’t explain the Kersey part, there could be some serious misunderstandings.
After hearing my explanation, they all nod their heads with understanding.
“So, you’re on date for selling out Eileen’s name in the duel with Ogtein and as an apology, and the reason you know Anje is because you became friends while doing volunteer work?”
“Yeah, that’s right.”
In response to Skaya’s inquiry, I nodded my head without hesitation. Skaya looked at me with a suspicious gaze, squinting her eyes.
“Hmm, I understand about the date with Eileen, but it’s very suspicious that you did volunteer work.”
At her words, everyone except Anje and her entourage nodded their heads with a troubled expression.
What’s with those faces? Seriously, is it so weird for me to do volunteer work? Of course, given Kane’s personality so far, it’s a relief if I just pass by someone without hitting them, but even so, can’t I do volunteer work once in a while?
Also, even before my possession, Kane and I had different personalities.
.
…
..
When I started to feel unjustly treated for some reason, Anje opened her mouth to speak up for me.
“Mr. Kane, it’s true that as he said, we met by chance while doing volunteer work in the David territory. Contrary to rumors, he worked very hard.”
“Ah… Yes, that’s right.”
At Anje’s firm words, Skaya nodded with a wry smile, scratching her side hair.
Well, when the person involved, the saint, speaks like that, there’s no way to refute it.
If there is no evidence, the word of a witness becomes the truth, and it was the saint who said it.
So even if someone thinks it’s suspicious that I did volunteer work, they wouldn’t think the saint is lying.
Honestly, even if she has some mental problems, she is undoubtedly a person with a good image.
Even if I told them the truth about what happened at the time, they wouldn’t believe me.
Who would believe that the saint tried to kill me out of jealousy for being chosen by the Constellation, and then became friends with me after she regained senses?
If I say something like that, they’ll definitely frown and think it’s nonsense.
No, if I’m not careful, I could get beaten up by the guards behind me for lying.
So I just kept my mouth shut, and once again an awkward silence filled the table.
“……”
“……”
No. It’s resolved now, but why is it still awkward?
Even though all misunderstandings were cleared up, the women except for Skaya were having a tense staring contest.
As I looked around, Kersey was fidgeting with her stomach and examining the menu board in the cafe.
“When are you going to order, Master?”
How can she care about food at a time like this?
To the outside observer, it may seem like we’re just staring each other down. but as someone in the middle of this situation without any preparation, it feels like we’re charging into battle with no backup.
Well, I can’t just sit here and do nothing either.
Honestly, even though three women are currently having a staring contest with each other, from the perspective of others, they must be thinking ‘Who are these people coming in here and not ordering anything?’
This is not the kind of nuisance we should be causing.
Normally, the cafe owner would step in and tell them to leave discreetly, but considering our status, it’s best to just stay put, and rightfully so.
One of them is a high-ranking noble lady who holds a higher position than me.
If she were to be chased out thoughtlessly, not only would the cafe be ruined, but it’s obvious what would happen to his life afterward.
Of course, the parties involved may not think about this at all.
There’s no guarantee that her subordinates won’t lash out.
Anyway, thinking that there’s no point in just sitting here doing nothing, I followed Kersey and looked through the menu one by one.
Hm, I don’t really know what these damn things are.
Ordinary people are usually knowledgeable about cafe drinks, but from my perspective of living my life as a recluse, they all just seem superficially impressive and indecisive.
Of course, I know the basic drinks, but as I pondered over what to order, Kersey looked at me, and asked, “Master, what’s good here?”
“Umm…” I honestly didn’t have a recommendation.
As I thought about this, suddenly one idea struck me like thunder to the head.
I remembered a way to mess with Kersey.
Her taste buds are just like a child’s, enjoying sweet treats such as chocolate and cake so much that she wouldn’t even bother with anything else.
If I recommended a drink I thought would be good for her…
Just thinking about how she would fall into my trap soon made me grin.
I desperately tried to suppress the smile that was creeping up on me as I pointed to a drink on the menu.
“You know they have iced Americano here? Kids can’t drink it, but adults really enjoy it. How about this? It’s really famous for being delicious.”
Emphasizing the word “kid,” I spoke to her, and she listened to my words, her face beaming with curiosity as she folded her arms and stood up straight.
“Hm! I’m not a kid, so I’ll have an iced americano!”
“Okay then. You can have this, and the rest…”
She tried to persuade the other women to join her, but they were still locked in a staring contest.
While in the midst of it, Skaya and I made eye contact.
She mouthed something to me without making a sound.
-Save me…
Ignoring Skaya, I asked the knight escorting Anje if he wanted anything to eat or drink.
“Do you want anything? I’m going to order an iced americano.”
“I’ll have one too.”
Skaya seemed to have caught on to the atmosphere and quietly joined in with us.
So I called the cafe owner and placed our order…
An hour passed inside the cafe.
When Anje’s escort approached her and whispered something, she nodded and got up with a bright smile.
“I have something to do, so I’ll leave first. Kane, I’ll visit you later.”
“Oh, okay. See you later.”
“Yes, it was nice talking with all of you. Goodbye for now.”
What? We didn’t talk at all. We just stared at each other. What’s she talking about?
As I was inwardly confused, the two had already left the cafe.
Skaya let out a deep sigh as they disappeared completely.
“Ah… now I feel a bit more at ease.”
“Huh? Why? Were you feeling uncomfortable or something?”
Speaking brazenly, I cocked my head and she glared at me, slowly opening her mouth with a tired look.
“It’s cheeky to say, but I guess you really didn’t know you were making yourself comfortable.”
“Huh? What didn’t I know?”
“Wow… it’s amazing how you don’t put pressure on anyone else but me.”
“What? Did the Saintess say something to you guys?”
“Well, not quite to that extent, but she kept saying similar things. It didn’t affect me as much though.”
Ah… so that’s why they’ve been quiet this whole time.
It was strange that Riche and Eileen hadn’t said a word for almost an hour in this chaotic situation.
But it wasn’t that they didn’t want to. They couldn’t because they were overwhelmed by the Saint.
Both of them now breathed a sigh of relief, at the same time, realizing that Anje had left.
… It seems it was quite difficult for them to endure, judging by their reactions.
Meanwhile, Kersey paid no attention to their reactions and drank his iced Americano with a rough frown.
Slurp! Slurp!
“Thi-thi-this is del-delicious…”
She’s being ridiculous!
Her face betrays her words, as if she’s thinking ‘Why am I drinking this crap? It tastes awful! I just want something sweet.’ Even her voice sounds lifeless.
Looking at her expression, it feels like she just downed a cup of soda after eating only sweet potatoes.
But I can’t leave it like this.
“If it tastes good, I’ll order another one for you.”
“Huh? Uh..Wait–”
Just as she stutters to refuse, I cut in, ‘Kersey is having an iced Americano, what would you like to order?’
Exhausted from their (Silent) argument, the womens in the group select snacks from the menu.
And so, the date with Eileen ended up being a disappointment after leaving the cafe.
As a side note, Eileen considered this date void and I couldn’t deny it as a result, so I just nodded my head.
