Awakened: Evolving to Godhood - Chapter 342
“We are done clearing out the mess here. I have taken care of all the loyal followers of the spider queen, ridding a major menace from the Ash Grey World.” The Sublime Emperor said before turning to Freya and saying, “Young girl, take us to the next place.”
“So fast?” Freya was finding it hard to believe that Zerrick had won the battle against her kind in less than half a minute. She wanted to confirm it with her pretty eyes. She turned her head around to see the results of the battle, but Elliot clenched her jaws and moved her head away from the terrifying sight.
“Believe me, if you don’t want to puke your guts out, then keep your eyes closed,” Elliot warned in a bone-chilling voice.
The sight before him was too terrifying to behold. The members of Freya’s race were dangling lifelessly from the arrow.
Some had one arrow coming out of their eye sockets, while others had one coming out of their forehead, chest, reproductive organ, belly, and throat.
Blood was leaking out of the wound on their body that had ended their lives. It was something he didn’t find too disturbing.
The primary reason was that he felt nothing for them as they were all his enemies, targets he needed to get rid of, but he couldn’t say the same for Freya.
She had lived with them for eight years, although under disguise, she still had developed feelings for them. If she witnessed how cruelly they had died, Elliot believed she would break down and cry.
The smell of rust was thick in the air. The ones alive could hear the sound of thick and warm liquid hitting the ground. Freya didn’t need to imagine to understand what the source of the blood was and what could be making that sound.
As she didn’t want to confirm their end with her own eyes and didn’t want to look at the corpses of the people she had lived with for many years, she listened to Elliot and closed her eyes.
“Good girl,” Elliot said as he patted her head.
Freya gave them the directions to the next area, which was not too far from here. It took them three minutes to reach it.
They saw many black monsters at the entrance of the 2nd area. Most of them were small, half their size. But some among them were tall, almost reaching the dark, blue sealing of the second area. They had twisted, slimy bodies. One could even take them as slimes. Though, it was hard to do so. The small ones had eyes all over their twisted wriggling dark bodies. The big ones only had one triangular eye above their C-shaped mouths.
“What the heck are they? And why do they look so disgusting?!” Elliot
“Spider queen’s damned creation,” Freya said in an angry voice that also contained regret in it. “She conducted many unlawful and inhumane experiments using elves and high-elves to modify slimes. While normal ones are the easiest for any elf to kill, these slimes have broken through their natural existence. Regular slimes have a life core in their body that keeps their bodies together and allow them to digest what they eat to sustain themselves. And if what they ate was abundant in energy and they managed to digest it, they would become a bit stronger. If they failed, their core would shatter. The destruction of their core would result in their death. But the damned creation doesn’t have a life core. They grow and grow endlessly, with the limit being the Magic Lord stage. But they are, in a sense, immortal. The way to kill them is by evaporating them using fire. However, they are so resistant to heat that my fifth-level fire doesn’t work against them.”
The spider queen wanted to test whether Freya was a spy or not. Thus, she fed elves to the black slimes right in front of Freya’s eyes. She managed to keep a straight devotion to the spider queen’s face until she let him go. That day, she had puked the most. If it weren’t for the fact that trying to save them would reveal herself as a spy and cause everything she had worked hard for over the years to go to waste, she would have sacrificed herself to save them and landed a vicious blow on the bitch of a queen.
When Freya finished explaining the strength and weakness of the black slime to Elliot and Zerrick, one of the black slimes noticed them. Its big triangular eyes were glaring straight at them with intense, eerie desires.
A roar came out of its body, and all the slimes, big and small, turned their eyes towards the three intruders.
“Looks like they are planning to play with us, ah.” Elliot, who was tired of slapping left and kicking right, cracked his knuckles and got ready to fight.
The next moment, out of the bodies of the many slimes, dozens to hundreds of black tentacles sprouted, and each of them surged towards the three intruders.
When Freya saw that, she remembered a thing she wanted to forget so dearly. She witnessed a disgusting scene a few years after she started spying on the spider queen. That day, the spider queen had gained success in modifying the slimes. She was feeling pleased and fed young lizard-women and high elves to the black slimes. They used their tentacles to suck the life out of them and transmitted all that vitality to the whore of a woman, the spider queen. She saw how the spider queen, who looked like both an evil witch and an old hag, was regaining her youth moments after consuming the vitality of others.
“Be careful. Don’t let the tentacles latch on to you. They can drain you of your energy in mere moments, leaving you dry and thin like a corpse.” Freya warned her teammates.
By then, Elliot had already made his move. He didn’t run away but did the opposite of that. He jumped towards the tentacles. They reached indefinitely close to him when sharp golden blades blossomed out of his body and brandished towards the tentacle. They were too many in numbers, a hundred times more than the tentacles.
Kissed by them, all of the black tentacles split into many pieces.
It looked like it was Elliot’s victory, but what happened next said otherwise.
