Awakened: The Spirit King! - Chapter 32
Xie Yang looked at his step-brother, who was a few years older than him. One could see traces of awe and admiration in his eyes. His stepbrother was talented, better than most prodigies he had encountered ten thousand years ago, yet he was too humble. Even though the latter was a first realm spiritual cultivator and the former at the fourth realm of spiritual cultivation, the latter still treated the former as a young master without putting on any air of arrogance. Anyone could see Leader Ye’s humbleness from how he treated Xie Yang so far.
Leader Ye saw his young master staring at him without any intention of looking away and wondered whether something was wrong or that he needed to say something to him.
Leader Ye asked, “Young master, is something wrong?”
Xie Yang replied, “Brother, you hid your true cultivation level too deeply.”
“I dare not hide anything from you, young master.” Leader Ye said, “It’s just that you never asked, and I never had the chance to showcase my full strength while we were traveling together.”
“And why would that be?” Xie Yang questioned.
“Because you’re my master’s youngest son.”
Yes, the reason why he, a spirit grandmaster, was treating him, an elixir field nourishing realm spiritual cultivator, with such respect was not that he was his unrelated by blood stepbrother or young master, but because he was the son of his master.
As for what debt he owed City Lord Xie Yong, Xie Yang had no idea about it.
“Brother, he is also your father, and I am your brother, so why don’t you refer to us as one?” Xie Yang said that to probe about something he found suspicious.
“I dare not.”
He emphasized all three words. Xie Yang’s eyebrows raised. Why doesn’t he dare? He felt that something was going on that he didn’t know of, and because of that, something, someone, or some reason, Leader Ye didn’t dare call him a brother or Xie Yong his father.
“Is there a reason why you can’t?” Xie Yang probed once again.
Leader Ye replied, “Young master, it’s complicated.”
Xie Yang asked, “You can’t tell me?”
“En.” Leader Ye nodded his head, signifying that although Xie Yang was his young master, he still had to hide something from him.
“Then, I won’t ask.”
Since he didn’t want to tell him, Xie Yang didn’t want to force the truth out of his mouth, not like he had any authority or reason to do so.
“Brother, I think the leader of the bandits had escaped when you were dealing with the rat. He is the hand behind this horrendous atrocity. He can set up a den here; he can also set up one somewhere less eye-catching. And I believe he will only lay low for a while before setting up a new crime center. If he escapes today, there is a slim chance we will catch him. What I want to say is, we should not let him see the next sunset. So, can you please catch up to him and kill him for the sake of every innocent he had harmed and will harm in the future?” Xie Yang said after a moment.
He had seen how the bandit had treated Merchant Jin, and he could also tell that he was the strongest, craftiest, and the most arrogant among them all, so he was somewhat confident that Merchant Jin was the leader, the mastermind behind this all. And he wanted him dead as not to let him harm the innocent in the future.
“You heard what he said. Go and kill the escapee.” Leader Ye said to the Princess of Rose who just came towards them after picking up three or so inter-spatial accessories that she took a liking to from the ashes of the bandits.
“Are you going to overwork me to death?” With squinted eyes that made her look adorable, Princess of Roses complained in a sweet voice that would make the heart of men flutter and make ten thousand heads turn.
Leader Ye leaned closer to her, picked up a thick strand of her hair, and brought it closer to his face. He sniffed the scent of roses coming out of her hair before leaning closer to her and bringing his lips next to her ears. She blushed slightly. Then, he said in a husky, barely, audible voice “If you want me to kill you in bed tonight, then you better catch him and bring his corpse back to me.”
She blushed hard, and this time, redness blossomed on her cheeks and spread up to the tips of her ears.
Princess of Rose took a few steps away from him as she said, “Do you think I will fall for your lies? You said that last time too!”
“This time, I mean it!” Leader Ye exclaimed with an honest look in his eyes.
“Hmph! You better keep your words. Otherwise, I won’t listen to your calls in the future!”
Leader Ye showed a rare smile on his face. She said that last time too but still responded to his call even though he hadn’t kept his words.
After saying that, the Princess of Roses charged out of the cave and began searching for Merchant Jin.
With a powerful spirit like her that had a true humanoid form hunting down Merchant Jon, Xie Yang felt relieved, and he exhaled a deep breath out of his mouth.
Xie Yang failed to hear what they said as not only were they at first talking in a low voice but later, Leader Ye had used an auxiliary spiritual technique to stop their words from reaching him.
Xie Yang asked while looking at him, “Brother, what were you guys talking about?”
For the first time, Leader Ye evaded his eyes.
“Young master, we were talking about carriages and how good it would make us feel to ride one together.”
He didn’t want to lie to his young master, but he didn’t want to tell him the shameful truth either.
Thus, like a true expert, Leader mixed black and white and told him a lie that held the truth.
He didn’t want to taint the purity and innocence of his young master!
“Oh, I understand.” Xie Yang said with a grin.
Who was Xie Yang?
He was a ten thousand years old fox!
If he couldn’t understand the true meaning behind his words, then he really had lived his life in vain.
The woman was a carriage, and the man, the rider of the carriage. When the rider rides the carriage in the bed, both parties are bound to feel good, hu, hu, hu.
Leader Ye saw the grin on his face and thought that his young master was not as innocent as he believed him to be.
Xie Yang looked away from his and stared at the ashes scattered on the ground.
Suddenly, something twinkled, and he saw it!
