Awakened: The Spirit King! - Chapter 43
“A matter related to you stalled me for half an hour, I believe. I hope I haven’t kept young master waiting for too long, have I?” Leader Ye asked after entering the room and looking at his young master, who wore a lazy expression on his gave.
Xie Yang waved his hand, signaling him not to worry.
“You came at the right time. I was just thinking about you. Come take a seat.” Xie Yang said to Leader Ye, who, after hearing him, stepped up to the table and sat down opposite him.
Xie Yang saw that Leader Ye was not only sweating, but his lips were also dry.
He snapped his fingers, and after a couple of seconds, his black-haired personal maid came in and poured tea in a cup before passing it to Leader Ye.
“Thanks.” Leader Ye took it and chugged it all down in a second, refreshing his throat.
Spirit Grandmaster could go on weeks without eating, but they could still get tired and thirsty. Whether to drink or not was a choice that they could make. Not eating or drinking was possible if they took fasting pills that came with a cost equal to meat and fish.
Thus, many people still eat occasionally, although many seniors advise against consumption.
“Are you still thirsty?” Xie Yang asked.
“Cough.” Leader Ye cleared his throat and used his spiritual energy to get rid of the sweat on his body, and then replied, “A little.”
Seeing how exhausted Leader Ye was because of the work he had put on him ever since his father handed him over to him, Xie Yang felt a little guilty and thought that he was an evil stepmother abusing her stepdaughter, but he didn’t let it show on his face.
“Pour it again.” Xie Yang gave his personal maid a glance.
Hei, the black-haired maid, poured another glass for Leader Ye, who was working as Xie Yang’s secretary. Though, the latter didn’t pay him. He was on his master’s payroll. And he still had the title of the Leader of the Shadow Guard. But he gained another title, and that was Secretary Ye.
Leader Ye drank it, and this time, he was no longer thirsty.
Xie Yang signaled the maid to go out, and she went away.
“What kind of matters?” Xie Yang asked after the maid left the room and closed the doors.
Leader Ye took out a slim document from his inter-spatial ring and placed it on the table.
“These contain all the information the shadow guards had gathered on Lady Zhang Xiu in the past three days. After returning home, I found out about it and went to get it from the private house of the shadows, which is a bit too far away and located outside of the city. That’s why I failed to get here on time and was half an hour late.” Leader Ye explained what caused him to arrive at the study room late.
Xie Yang responded, “As I said before, you don’t need to feel troubled over this matter.”
“En.” Leader Ye nodded before turning silent.
The sound of pages flipping occasionally permeated the silence in the study room, adding a disturbance to it, but only for a second, for calm would return again. The document, which contained information on Zhang Xiu, had twenty pages, and it explained a lot about her past, her likes, and dislikes and a lot of other things. Xie Yang praised the shadow guards as really capable in his heart. It has only been three days, but they had obtained 20 pages worth of information on Zhang Xiu.
Xie Yang found out that everything she said was true after going through the entire document. He snapped his finger, and the maid came in, and he told her to go and tell Zhang Xiu that he was ready to hire as Lin Hua’s study companion and that she could begin teaching his wife from today if she was willing.
The maid nodded and went out to fulfill his task.
Xie Yang returned the document to Leader Ye, and while the latter was going to store it into his inter-spatial ring, Xie Yang tapped his finger on the table and asked, “Brother, did you get the things I asked for?”
“The thing you asked, most of them I got from the manor’s treasury and only for one I had to go to an auction to obtain it.”
While saying that, Leader Ye took out a few things from his inter-spatial ring and placed it on the table.
All of them were the things he needed to create the talisman.
“So father knows?” Xie Yang asked.
The accountants make a record of everything taken out of the manor’s treasury, and City Lord had full access to these records, so he was bound to find out about Leader Ye taking things related to talisman master from the treasury.
“Should I have not told him?”
“It Doesn’t matter now.”
Xie Yang had already decided to reveal to his father that he had gained memories of his past life in the upcoming days.
“He told me to ask you what you need these things for.”
Xie Yang revealed a slight smile and said, “What else if not to create a talisman.”
Leader Ye: “…”
He doesn’t remember seeing his young master reading books on talismans, much less seeing a talisman master teaching him a thing or two, so how could he know how to create a talisman? Was his young master enlightened by an immoral? Or was he joking?!
But if he was serious, doesn’t that make him a person favored by an immortal of the spirit realm, a type of genius which appears in the mortal world only once in millennia and at turbulent times?!
“Shocked?” Xie Yang questioned.
“En.”
Leader Ye didn’t know how but if his young master knew how to create a talisman and managed to create one, it would not be a matter of him being simply talented.
“If you want to ask something, then say it. It will be far better than looking at me with eyes full of disbelief.”
“No, I have nothing to ask.”
“Nevermind then.”
Xie Yang flicked his sleeve, shifted his focus away from Leader Ye and on to creating a talisman.
