Awakened: The Spirit King! - Chapter 59
“Duck!”
Tang Yongnian shouted out that word before he conjured several spiritual knives in front of him and, with a push of his hands, threw them straight ahead.
A skeleton with a long, bony tail rushed out from behind its companions and leaped towards Xie Yang, who not only heard what Tang Yongnian had just said but also saw from the corners of his eyes the knives coming towards his back.
Thus, he threw himself to the ground in the blink of an eye.
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
Whoosh!
The next moment, several sharp blue knives darted from above Xie Yang. They simultaneously slammed on the skeleton monster that was coming down towards him, forcing it to fly straight back, and its body crashed on a group of skeletons with such force that all of them plunged into the water, producing plop sounds as they did so.
“Nice shot.”
Xie Yang praised him for having excellent knife shooting skills.
“I didn’t do much of anything.” Tang Yongnian said with a sheepish smile on his face.
None of the skeletons died.
They stood up and came charging towards them once again.
Three of them reached Xie Yang and brandished their weapons at him. Tang Yongnian, as well as Mo Mingzhu, Chen Yuan, and Mao Yue, saw how Xie Yang maneuvered his body like an expert to dodge all their attacks before whipping out his swords and landing a strike on each of them while moving past them.
The skeletons that he struck with his sword shattered into pieces, each of their bone fell into the ankle-high water.
Xie Yang urged the onlookers to stop gawking. They joined in on the battle. They saw how easily Xie Yang had defeated the skeletons and thought these fleshless monsters must be weak. They landed a few too many attacks of their own on the skeleton monsters but found out that none of them were dying.
“What the hell is going on?”
“Focus and land your attacks on the bones with symbols. Try to smash them.”
After Xie Yang advised them, they focused their attacks only on the odd bones of the skeletons. Each time they smashed a bone with a symbol on it, they would increase their skeleton kill count.
It was only after ten minutes that they managed to kill all the skeletons in the tunnel.
Xie Yang inspected the bones and, after scrutinizing them for a while, determined that the ones with the symbol on them were rare crafting material. They were able to conduct spiritual energy and were also highly sturdy and strong. It meant that they were spiritual bones, which one can use to craft spiritual weapons such as weapons, armor, and accessories.
Spiritual weapons have special effects, and each was worth hundred to thousands of gold taels!
“Handsome brother, why are you doing that?” Mo Mingzhu asked after she saw Xie Yang putting his face into the water to search for bones with a black symbol on them.
“The bones are rare crafting materials worth a lot of gold, so search for them before they get carried away by the running water.”
Xie Yang wasn’t unwilling to share things with them as they combined had contributed more than him in this battle.
“You should have said so sooner.”
“Guys, we can not let out bundles of money go to waste. Give it yours all in searching for them!”
“Let’s do this.”
The four of them rolled up their sleeves and put their hands into the dirty water to search for the bones. They were slower but far cleaner than Xie Yang, who was going all out in picking up the bones.
Once they finished picking up the bones, they went deeper into the tunnel.
Chen Yuan was walking ahead of them all.
He turned around the corner, and right then, he felt his eyes blinded by blinding lights. A huge fireball blasted through the air and came crashing down towards him.
[Spirit Wall]
Xie Yang reacted to the adverse situation at hand immediately.
In the split of a second, waves of spiritual energy surged out of Xie Yang’s body and charged in between Chen Yuan and the fireball before the blue waves swirled upwards and condensed into one body, which was a thick blue wall.
KABOOM!
An ear-splitting explosion occurred as the fireball crashed on the wall and exploded.
The impact of the explosion rocked the entire place, and they could even feel the ground below their feet vibrating.
Xie Yang took this chance to move through the fog of war and creep up to the skeleton who had cast this magic. It didn’t notice him until he stepped out of the smoke and fire and jumped towards it.
It tried to cast its magic; however, it could only conjure half a fireball before Xie Yang’s sword, whose tip was glinting in thick spiritual energy, landed on its bone that had a reddish symbol.
Under the sharpness and weight of his sword, its bone didn’t last strong for even a moment.
It, too, burst apart into pieces.
Plop!
Before its reddish bone could fall into the water, Xie Yang grabbed it.
‘This bone is different from all the others and I can sense the element of fire in it. It must be more special than the ones with black symbols on them and more valuable too.’ Xie Yang thought before storing it in his inter-spatial ring.
When the dust and smoke died down, Chen Yuan saw that the monster who attacked him was no longer in sight.
He could only see Xie Yang in the same spot he saw the monster.
Chen Yuan really thought that he was going to die today, but thanks to Xie Yang, he managed to remain alive.
He expressed his gratitude to him before asking, “Where did it go?”
Xie Yang replied, “I got it.”
Who wanted to fight a monster that van conjure fire? Since he got rid of it, Chen Yuan felt glad and at ease.
They advanced further, and only a couple of minutes later, they reached a place with no stinky black water on the ground.
There was no water, but the place still smelled bad.
After all, there were a few rotting corpses on the ground!
