Be My Strength - Chapter 400
Once DX hung up the call with Callum, he called Phantom, “I need your help.”
He could hear typing sound coming from the background.
“I heard from Han Ye. What do you need?” asked Phantom. He was worried when Han Ye called him earlier and since then, he had been looking at the surveillance cameras as well.
Earlier, Han Ye had been tracking the movement of the getaway car. When he saw that there were four cars that came out from the alley, he knew that it was the same trick that Mrs. Luo used before.
It might be Mrs. Luo, it might be not. Whoever it was, he would not be able to escape.
This time, to speed up, Han Ye and Phantom divided the task. Each of them would keep an eye on two cars. At the same time, Han Ye had sent out different teams of guards to search within the city.
Phantom’s eyes burned from looking at the multiple screens but he wanted to help.
With a deep and suspiciously calm voice, DX said, “I need you to track my son down.”
“Jack?”
DX nodded, “I’ll send you the passwords. Once you’ve located him, give me a call. We don’t have time to be going through the surveillance cameras. I’ll be driving around for now.”
Phantom was quiet for a moment before saying, “I got it. I’ll call you back soon…”
Having the tracker would help. However, there was no guarantee that Kai Xin and Jack would be in the same car.
While he searched for Jack, Phantom planned to continue observing the two cars. The people Han Ye sent out were already moving towards the directions of the two cars.
It would only be a matter of time now…
Once he hung up the call, DX sent the link and the passwords that Phantom would need to him.
When he climbed onto the motorcycle and before he put on the helmet, Lyle asked with a choked voice, “Where are they?”
He turned around slightly to look at his son. Lyle’s face had dried blood and dirt on them.
DX had not seen his eldest in such a state ever since the day they rescued him.
When he saw the worried expression on Lyle’s face, he reached over to kiss the boy on the head before saying, “They would be fine. We’ll find them.”
When he first found the twins, he was afraid that he might lose them again.
So, using his connections, he managed to get a few of the military top of the grade nano-trackers which he then kept hidden in the twins’ filing.
Since they still had most of their baby teeth, DX did not hesitant to put it. After all, the baby teeth would fall out one day.
This was something that only him, Dr. Phillip, and the dentist knew. The dentist passed away two years ago, and since then, only the two of them knew about it.
Dr. Phillip took dentistry before and even though he did not complete it, he knew enough to do the basic filings.
Every year, during their routine checkups, Dr. Philip would check on the condition of the filing and if the baby tooth with the nano-tracker had fallen off, he would place a new one in another tooth.
It was easy since they were young and both the kids love to eat candies.
Even though it sounded bad, DX was glad that the one they took was Jack. Lyle was more disciplined with his daily routine.
They were unable to plant a new one in him secretly and during the last checkup, even though the tooth with the nano-tracker was still there, the signal was bad. Dr. Phillip wanted to replace it but there were no cavities for him to fill up with.
DX had placed the trackers on Lyle in all of his shoes instead.
Jack, on the other hand, needed a filling every now and then. He also had the habit of digging at his filling until they fell out.
Due to their youth, he had not talked to them before as he was unsure if they would be able to understand.
Furthermore, they might accidentally disclose it and should it happened, it would put them in danger. The best thing about this kind of tracker was when no one else knew about it.
This was something that DX had wanted to talk to his kids when they were older.
….
On Kai Xin’s side, after a long time of driving, they entered into a forest area. Kai Xin came to this forest to hike before so she could recognize it. There were some houses here that could be rented by campers.
For privacy, the houses were spread out far from each other.
During the school holidays, there would be a lot of people staying at the houses here while they escaped from the hustle and bustle of the city life.
There would also be a lot of hikers during the early morning and evening. However, due to the recent renovation work, people had stopped coming over for the past few months.
Due to the materials that were left lying around at the entrance path, it was considered dangerous and thus, there was a warning placed at the beginning of the path.
Since no one wanted to take the risk, most of the hikers went to the forest that was on the other side of the city.
“Obviously, it must be a forest…” thought Kai Xin wryly. Forest would be the best place to hide. If there were any trackers on them, the signal would probably be at its weakest here.
She knew that DX had probably sealed off all entrance and exit out of the city. She could see choppers flying around at a distance away. Given the size of the city, without any trackers, it would take DX forever to track them down.
Kai Xin glanced at Jack and from his depressed expression, she knew that he knew as well. However, she still patted him on the back as she whispered, “I won’t let anything happen to you…”
Jack nodded weakly.
The car continued to drive into the forest until they arrived at the end of a path. Yang parked the car at the back of the house. They then alighted from the car.
Yang said, “We have to walk from here.”
Jack looked at the path that was on a slope and said, “She’s pregnant! How can she walk up there?”
When Henry looked as if he was about to hit him, Kai Xin pulled the boy so that he was safely behind her. She then said, “We’ll walk!”
After they covered the car with a tarp to camouflage it from any choppers that might fly past, Henry led from the front while Yang followed last to make sure that no one fell down.
About 25 minutes of a hike later, they arrived at a house that was hidden amongst the trees.
It was a small house that was meant for those who wanted some time off from the public. The paintwork outside resembled the patterns on army clothes.
In the darkness, Kai Xin had almost missed it.
If it was not because of the heavily armed men standing outside the house, she would definitely miss it.
From the dirty windows, Kai Xin noticed a dimmed light that was coming from inside.
When they were at the door, Henry gave them a shove and said impatiently, “Go inside. Someone is waiting for you.”
