Be My Strength - Chapter 403
Ah Jie glared at the man on the floor and hissed, “Get the f*ck out of here if you want to live!”
“What? Why?” asked Yang.
“Do you have any idea what have you f*cking done?! You f*cking kidnapped Shenlong Xun’s woman! The heir to the Shenlong Family!”
Henry and Yang froze. They had heard the Shenlong Family before and their brutality. In fact, they had tried to apply to be a member years ago but they were rejected immediately because the Shenlong Family did not think that they would be a good fit.
If the pregnant woman was carrying an heir of the Shenlong Family, not only them, but their entire family would have to pay for their crimes!
Ah Jie kept the jade pendant inside his pocket. He took out the prepaid debit cards that he prepared beforehand and threw it at the two men. He then said, “Leave this place immediately! Try to find a way to escape from this city. There is enough money in each of the cards to last you for a long time.”
Henry picked up the cards and as if he was too dumb to shut his mouth, he said, “How am I supposed to believe you? You just want to keep the jade pendant to yourself!”
“Suit yourself!”
Henry and Yang exchanged glances before the latter pointed out, “What about our money? Young Master Xing promised us $40 million USD!”
When Ah Jie heard a loud scream, he ignored him and immediately dashed into the house. The first thing he saw was Kai Xin lying on the floor and a little boy was hugging Shangguan Xing’s leg to prevent him from kicking Kai Xin.
“Isn’t she President Du’s woman?” thought Ah Jie. He had seen her on TV before. He wondered if he was wrong.
“You b*tch!” yelled Shangguan Xing. He tried to kick Jack away but despite the pain, Jack refused to let go.
The back of Jack’s head was bleeding but he refused to release the evil man. He knew that if he released the man’s leg now, his baby sister would definitely be gone!
“What is happening?” asked Ah Jie coldly.
“Nothing! Get lost!” yelled Shangguan Xing. He then turned his eyes back to Kai Xin and yelled, “You b*tch! You ruined my life!”
Ah Jie went to Shangguan Xing and knocked him out. He then carried Shangguan Xing into one of the rooms.
Jack glared at him as he walked away. Once they were gone, he crawled over to Kai Xin and asked nervously, “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine…” said Kai Xin. She hugged him tightly and asked, “Is it painful?”
When she saw how Shangguan Xing kicked Jack earlier, she felt pain for the boy.
“I’m sorry…” murmured Kai Xin.
“I’m fine! It doesn’t hurt…” said Jack. He quickly grabbed the gun that Shangguan Xing dropped earlier and put it into his pocket. He then helped Kai Xin to stand up.
When they were standing up, he felt a little dizzy and his legs felt weak but he still maintained that he was fine.
Kai Xin was worried and she made him leaned against her. When Ah Jie came back out, he looked at them and said, “You guys must leave now. He won’t be awake for a while.”
“Who are you? Why are you helping me?”
“I’m nobody. Just remember that when you go back to the Shenlong Family,” said Ah Jie. He glanced at Ye Tian and sighed. With the condition he was in, he knew that Ye Tian would not live for long.
Not knowing what to do, Kai Xin and Jack followed him. Since Jack seemed to be unable to walk straight, Ah Jie carried him up in his arms as he took them down to where the cars were parked.
It took them longer than when they went up earlier because it was too dark and they only had Ah Jie’s phone to light the way. Furthermore, the ground was slippery and Kai Xin had to be much more careful.
Yang and Henry were gone, and by the time they arrived at where they parked the cars, there was only a truck left.
Ah Jie placed Jack at the passenger seat before he pulled over the belt to buckle him in. He then turned to Kai Xin to ask, “Can you drive a truck?”
Kai Xin gulped, “I can try…”
After he helped Kai Xin up the car, Ah Jie said, “I didn’t know that they are going after you… If I knew that they are going after a member of the Shenlong Family, I would have stopped them.”
Kai Xin was confused by his words but she did not correct him. If her being mistaken as Callum’s woman could save them, then so be it. She took a quick glance at Jack and knew that he had the same thought.
Ah Jie then gave her the car key and said, “I’m not taking the risk of being caught by anyone! You have to leave by yourself!”
“Who are you?” asked Kai Xin weakly.
“Like I said, a nobody,” answered Ah Jie. He gave her the jade pendant back and said, “Take care of the young master.”
Before he closed the door, he gave her a bow.
Kai Xin had no time to ask any more questions. She started the car and drove away.
However, when she was not far behind, she heard a loud bang and accidentally pressed on the brake. Through the rearview mirror, she saw Ah Jie suddenly collapsed.
“Mum! He’s awake!” yelled Jack fearfully as he saw Shangguan Xing walking towards them. Somehow, he must have found another gun in the house.
“We’d be fine!” said Kai Xin as she pulled the shift. She had only driven a manual car for fun before and had never driven outside of the driving range.
When she heard a couple of loud bangs coming towards their direction, she immediately pushed Jack down. She drove away while she kept their heads low for a few seconds.
About a few hundred meters in, she felt something was off. The truck felt heavier than before.
Looking out at the side mirror, she cursed. One of the back tires was deflated. That was why Shangguan Xing was shooting at them earlier. He was actually shooting at the tires.
Suddenly, Jack yelled, “MUM!”
When she glanced back, it was too late. She crashed into a tree.
“Urgh!” Kai Xin gasped when she braced herself against the tree. One of her hand was in front of Jack’s chest in her attempt to protect him.
It took her a few seconds to gather her breath before she released her safety belt. She then quickly turned to Jack and asked weakly, “Jack, are you alright?”
Jack rubbed his chest. There was a sore from being pulled back by the safety belt, but overall he was safe.
They did not have that much time. She turned off the car and climbed out of the truck. She then helped Jack down from the truck.
“Can you walk?” asked Kai Xin.
Jack nodded. He felt better now than before.
Kai Xin looked around. It was completely dark and other than the light from the moon, there was nothing to guide them.
She then pointed towards a direction and said, “We need to go off the path or it would be too easy for him to track us down.”
Jack agreed.
After another 200 meters, Kai Xin felt something wet on her legs. She looked down briefly and cursed under her breath. She had felt a little spasm earlier but she did not have time to think about it.
When Jack who was walking in front of her realized she had stopped walking, he turned back to look. It was then that he saw the water that was running down her legs and onto the ground.
