Beast Enchanter - Chapter 1 My New Roommate

The Soul Frontier, the biggest and first Virtual Reality game of its kind to ever hit the market boasting 100% realism. The creators of the game recently released news of a new state of the art game helm that should increase awareness to 100% witch is a big claim. Current models only reach 70% within game even with great graphics for a game there always a feeling of disconnect from real and fake but to boast of eliminating that even releasing a new state of the art game to come with it people are claiming we entering a new era were gaming going to start breaking the border of reality, although that claim to me seem to be people just riding the hype.

The game itself was left for people to ponder. Curious as we are the developers said they wish for the world to be explored by the players to give everything away would ruin the learning experience, but they at least released that at the start of the game there will be a solo island made for every player which is supposed to be a tutorial of sorts so players won’t be completely left in the dark, they lastly mentioned that classes are picked at lvl 10 and based on your performance on the island you’ll get to pick a basic class or a hidden class but left out what they all were which got everyone curious. Besides that they stated there will be a in game currency for money exchange system witch is what really got people interested after all only games that are confident in their balance incorporate such a system after all there been fail attempts in the past of companies that though they had the balance right but ended up losing loads of money thus having to close down the servers to the game.

Well with that all said the game was released 3 days ago I would of loved to have play on launch but unfortunately I’ve been busy the past 3 days packing, then driving here to move into my new apartment after all my college classes will being starting in the next 2 weeks.The landlord here told me I was going to have roommate although… I would of preferred being alone but with the low price on this place compare to everywhere else around here I really didn’t have a choice.

“58..59…60..61 ah here we are.”

I quietly mumble to myself, and upon entering honestly I was a bit surprised was expecting it to be a bit of a wreck because of the pricing but nope. Everything looks to be pretty clean although he might have cleaned it expecting me but if not it looks like I lucked out, at least that means he’s not a slob. I started look for an open spot in the corner of the room to start dumping my stuff off when I suddenly I hear the door open behind me and a someone walked in. I turn around to get a look at what I would assume to be my new roommate he’s a bit above average height guy, long blond hair, dark blue eye, and he had a very handsome man one the lady’s would love . ‘Oh no, he’s not some kinda playboy is he’ I quickly think to myself. He appeared to have just gone food shopping as he was carrying groceries in both hands the guy quickly took noticed me had a bit of a surprised look on his face.

“Oh hey! You must be the new guy the landlord told me about. I thought it was going to take you at least a week to get here but hey that’s nothing but good news to be if you arrived so quickly.”

The way he had said that had me a bit confused as to why he was so glad I was here but I decided to introduce myself first and reached out my hand.

“I’m Arthur Telasane nice to meet you.”

“I’m Felix Loan likewise.”

I figured I should tell why I was here I did pack and leave as soon as the landlord called me up and confirmation I could move in. “Ya, I wanted to get moved in get everything unpack as quickly as I after all that new game came out have you hear of it, The Soul Frontier?.”

He gave a light eye roll to my question “Of course I’ve heard of it, at this point I don’t think theirs a person on the planet that hasn’t heard of it after all the amount of hype build for it is beyond what’s happened in recent years.”

I embaringly cucked to myslef “Ha ha ya I guess it was a dumb question so what level have you gotten to. I haven’t started yet myself.”

“He he watch and behold.”

Felix says in a confident manner and lift his right hand revealing a black bracelet and Say’s.

“Summon S.P. Ron.”

Said Felix in a clear voice his bracelet lights up then a holographic black wolf cub appears floating next to him. I stare with my mouth agape.

“You already got to lvl 10? Iv heard only top players have gotten to lvl 10 so far.”

I mean the games only been out for 3 days even if the helm has a time dilation of 1-5. the game only says online for 14 hr a day as to try and prevent people forgetting about reality and give them time to rest and eat even if you can sleep in the helm you still need mental rest after all constant combat can wear you down.

He raised an eyebrow at my question.”Hmm… that’s not quite right when was the last time you checked on the current progress of the game? Most players have reached lvl 10 already it’s actually that top players had not reached lvl 10 yet and only got to it yesterday its said the longer you spent on the island the more potential you have as it’s basically a test for you to determine your value if you can get a hidden class or not although even though I finished my test it felt kinda like a gamble on what you get but I won’t spoil it for you you’ll figure it out once you start.”

*Cough*

I gave a light cough to try and hid my embarrassment after all I was mostly busy packing my stuff and hitting the road the past 3 days only checking the info on my phone once in a while so I can’t say to be extremely informed of what’s happened in game the past 3 days but I’ve read a few posts off the forums but it looks like they were post from some dumb players with no talent that got lvl 10 first.

“I was checking… here and there but I definitely hadn’t been watching the forums closely. So… that’s your soul pet I’ve heard a lot about them but first time I’ve seen one they supposedly hatch at lvl 10 at the end of the island tutorial right?”

“Ha ha ya, this is my partner I named him Ron. He hasn’t developed enough intelligence to talk but I really lucked out this time he’s a black/legend rank Lightning/Water Wolf” Said Felix In a very proud manner.

“Wait isn’t that really high rank did you get a hidden class?”

I was surprised I didn’t know the full listing of ranks but with my past experience of gaming, ‘Legend’ was usually used for high ranks and based on what I did read on the forum the questing will determine your rank of your soul pet. It’s the only one you will get as stated by the players who played ‘Tutorial island’ so it’s a big deal to have good results in the begging. It’s still unknown if you can increase its rank but it’s only the begging of the game so players still have hope.

“Ya, I was a bit disappointed at first since it was a wolf I was hoping for something that seemed a little bit stronger like a dragon or a Phoenix but once I saw I had a Black,Legend rank pet I couldn’t really complain, most people are getting normal or elite rank pets below purple. you’ll probably be surprised but I picked the hidden class Holy Priest after all the healer class is going to be in high demand with how hard it is to unlock the hidden classes I can make a lot of money working as a priest and with a high rank my heal’s are gonna be top notch” Felix says confidently.

He was right I didn’t expect him to be a priest. In fact I hadn’t look up what all the classes were yet in most games priest were one of the basic classes I had heard that there were a set of hidden classes that were hard to unlock that were separated from the basic one’s but I hadn’t look them up. Figured I’d figure them out once I got here but if what he said is true a lot of top players are going to be demanding healers in there party even if they are bad.

“Wait why is the priest a hidden class what are the basic classes then?”

“Hmmm. You’ll figure it out later the servers are going to be coming back online in an hour I need to make some food and get ready with my guild since we’re going to be picking up the pace to try and get back ahead of the low tier players that got to leave the island faster than us. Oh, and my in game name ‘Hanson devil’ send me an invite one you log on, if you need help send me a voice chat”

“Oh.. well… ya you’re probably right the npc’s will explain it all, I’ll be sure to send an invite.”

I ate before I arrived so I didn’t need to eat so I just started unpacking all my stuff into my new room. The apartment wasn’t huge but it was at least big enough to house 3 people if one slept in the living room. I took deep breath to recollect myself it’s been awhile since I talked so much I’ve never been one much for taking but I needed to be friendly with my new roommate as it would be rude to ignore him. In high school I only ever had one good friend while he was good at socializing with many people I only had him my only friend. It’s not like people didn’t try to socialize with me but its just that I really enjoy keeping to myself, sometime I even think a little too much so when I finally feel like hanging out, people had already distance themselves from me, as they were basically looking for constant parties and outing.

“Well let’s stop think such depressing thing.”

Looking at my game helm in hand It was black relatively slimmer than most, one of the newest models even, the ones that are set to be released in a week. I give a slight smile most people don’t have this helmet yet but lucky I have parents that work for the company that makes them so I was able to get one ahead of others although I don’t know how much of a difference such a helmets going to have but it should at least helpful somewhat right?

I turn to look at the clock It reads 6:15p.m. witch mean the server have already been online for 15 mins. I lay down in bed and put on my helmet…
