Beast Enchanter - Chapter 5 Revenge 50 Hp
“Are you ready newbie? Just start running, and we will begin you get a 30 seconds head start.”
“Wa…wait! Aren’t you much stronger than me I can’t even see your stats there’s no way this is fair.”
“Do I have to explain everything to you newbie? When you’re on a mission to get information, and the enemy discovers you when you get chased to death. you don’t get to pick your opponents sometime they’ll be much stronger than you this is training for those times, so get going newbie.”
“Sigh, all right…I’ll get going now, “I reluctantly said.
Knowing I had no choice as this is probably her revenge for my comment back in the tent. With that said I turn and ran as fast as I could into the forest looking for anything that can help me shake her as she’s going to be faster than me.
——–
“27..28..29..30 hehe, here I come you damn newbie” and then she bolted off in my direction like lightning.
“Now which way did the newbie go?” she looks down at the footprints I carelessly left in my mad sprint.
She shook her head “Sigh, he is hopeless this is going to be a waste of my time isn’t it.”
——–
*Hahh… hahh..*
I was panting as I ran as hard as I could I found a rocky clearing so I could catch my breath as I saw no signs of her, but I knew she probably wasn’t far behind. It’s still got to me how real this all was in this visualizer It didn’t even feel like a game at times, It genuinely felt like another world. After I caught my breath I didn’t dare waste another second and started heading south as there are only open plains are to my north, and it would be a death wish go there.
As I ran, I was constantly scanning for any signs of wildlife, so I didn’t run into them. I was also looking for any rocky areas because I realized as I was resting by the rocks that my footprints were, but it’s not like I had another choice she’s going to be much faster than me so I need to make all the space I could in those 30sec. Thankfully up ahead I spotted a rocky clearing came into view which I could use to throw her off. I’m sure I don’t have much time before she catches me. As I reached the clearing and entered the forest once more, I heard a voice behind playfully yelling.
“Is that all you got newbie at this rate you’ll only to have lived for 10 min.”
I completely ignored her as I ran I knew the clearing should slow her down If not then I fail. A few mins later I approached a small river and spotted a cave on the other side. I figured I could probably use false tracks leading inside since the opening was a rock slab so It wouldn’t leave traces. I walked onto the stone making it look like I stepped inside I jumped up and grabbed the rocks sticking from on top of the opening and started to climb up. I got to the top and heard a shout at the bottom by the river.
“Hah hah nice try newbie, but you have to be faster to pull that off.”
Shit.. she had the worst timing that could have bought me a lot of time, now my now it’s useless, but at least it will take her a second to climb up, so I didn’t stay a moment longer. I knew she would be catching up soon so I was desperately looking for anything that could help throw her off, but then suddenly I got pushed from behind -125 and looked at my health I had 140hp left I quickly get up and turn around I see her in the distance holding a bow, fuck I thought she used daggers I started using the trees for cover as I ran to an area where there were densely packed.
There were only 15 mins left, and things weren’t looking too good as I reached a dead end at a cliff I looked down there was a river probably too strong for me to swim in. I figured If I run I would probably fail, but If I jump I could finish the quest or there might also be a monster in the water that will kill me however, I just had a feeling I would regret it if I failed this quest, so I jumped.
—–
2 mins. After I jumped Silica got to the top of the cliff were my tracks ended.
“He didn’t…this is supposed to be training he didn’t need to go that far…” Silica said with a worried look on her face
“That idiot! Now I’m going to get yelled at by Elise. I’ll have to find the newbie before he gets too deep into enemy territory. If I knew this was going to happen, I would have started with teaching him how to hide his presence…”
——
As soon as I hit the water, I instantly passed out from the cold. I woke up later washed up on a river bank. I looked at my health I had 50 health remaining, I had probably been taking drowning damage, but luckily I didn’t die. I wasn’t sure how long I was out, so I checked the remaining server time, and there were closing in 15 mins. I had washed up on this shore, but now I had no idea where I was. It was probably best to find a safe spot to log out.
I looked around me I was surrounded by massive trees bigger than the one I was using to run from Silica. There was a cliff that was extremely high on the other side so there no way I could climb it, so I carefully walked into the forest luckily I quickly found a small clearing there was a small hill with a little outcrop hanging on the side that looked like the perfect place to hide. I felt fortunate didn’t run into anything or get discovered. I logged out after I felt comfortable.
I sat up and took off my visualizer thinking of what I should do until the servers come back on. I walked into the kitchen and decided start by making some breakfast seeing as Felix went shopping yesterday there should be some food, but I’m still new here, so I was trying to figuring out where everything was before I started. Felix walked out of his room while I was looking around and said.
“Man I’m starving what are you making us?”
“I’ve been meaning to ask you are we going to be taking turns making food and cleaning?”
“What do you mean, don’t you already know? I told the landlord to inform you when you rented this place?”
I suddenly thought back onto what the landlord had said.
“I knew there had to be a catch, but all she told was you told her some useless crap and that you’ll pay half the rent.”
Felix clicks his tongue and said.”Tch, that bitch. I even reminded her three times as why I was paying half the rent. Well, guess I can just let you know now. I’m paying half because I wanted the guy who took the room to take care of all the cleaning and cooking of course it’s not like I won’t cook if your sick or something but I wanted to focus on Soul Frontier you’ve heard about the tournament at the at the end of the year, right? In my guild, I’ve been assigned to the main competing team, so I want to focus on that completely.”
“Oh ya, that tournament I’ve heard about it they said they’re going to be a 100,000$ grand prize for first place right?”
“Yep and my guild are in desperate need of that money once we get that money we are planning on using it to build a gaming house where we can gather all our core members together.”
A thoughtful look appeared on my face as I said.”Oh ya, I’ve heard of gaming house’s they have been becoming increasingly popular as of late. It’s gathering of people where everyone works to make money off of the game. They focus solely on making money and make sure their top players are in good condition for events.”
Felix flashed a smile “Yep it’s every guilds dream to own one, and at this point, it’s becoming a bit of an embarrassment for us as one of the top guilds not to own one yet. Many smaller guilds own one, but we haven’t been able to get one because our guild grew too fast. So we’re taking this tournament very seriously. Enough about that though are you fine with doing the cleaning and cooking?”
“Well I’ve had to clean bigger places, so it will be fast and easy to clean a small place like this so I’ll do it, but I get to choose what I’m cooking.”
“That’s fair, so how you questing going did you get to the Wererabbit general yet?”
“Nope, I’ve gotten to the scouting tent, and I was told to get trained by Silica. I managed to clear the quest, but now I’m lost in the forest.”
Felix’s face flashed with shock at what I said.
“Wait, What! You managed to clear the impossible quest. How?” He said as he slammed his hands on the counter and leaned forward.
A confused look went across my face. “What do you mean impossible it wasn’t that hard although I was cutting it close at the end…”
Felix gave a sigh of resignation “Sigh, man you must have some good luck or your NPC must have gone easy on you. That quest is one that everyone has failed we’ve realized that the NPC’s that are on everyone island are always different even if the quest chain is the same. The NPC’s for that quest plays with you until the last 15 mins. When they get serious no one can escape them, so we figured their quest wasn’t meant to be beaten. The closest anyone’s gotten to beating it was the 10 min mark. So how’d you do It?”
“I just kept running south making sure to stay in the forest throwing her off my trail the best I could, but as I approached the 15 min mark, I knew I was probably going to fail. However, that’s when I came across a cliff there was a river at the bottom I figured I would fail if I don’t jump so, I did. I woke up much later in the middle of nowhere I’m currently lost, but I found a safe place to log out.”
“A river…nobody’s ever mentioned a big river like that how did you find it?”
“I just ran south although I lost my directions a bit during the chase as I was so focused on losing her, I was somewhere that direction.”
“Hmm, I’ll mention it to my guild leader later, man you might have found what we were all missing. You lucky bastard you,” he said as he put his arm around my neck.
“Don’t mention it to any outsiders yet. There’s a bonus for being the first to clear a difficulty right? Since I found It, I want that bonus if I can get it… I don’t know if I’ll run into more trouble along the way through.”
“Of course keep me updated on what happens and feel free to ask me for help if you run into any problems and hey I’ll tell you what. Breakfast will be on me today you can go shopping and make dinner tonight.”
“Thanks but let me help with breakfast I still need to learn where everything is.”
“That’s fine too.”
SO we made eggs and bacon with a side of toast It was good enough, but I’m not a fan of making such bland food. Shortly after that I went into town and took a stroll. I found a few interesting places I might check out later. I then pick up food for us for the next few days and made my way back home. I made dinner for both of us and then we looked at the forums until the servers came back on.
There’s just a bunch of drama between guilds fighting over farming spots typical stuff. I tried to look up as much information on the Wererabbit generals quests as I could as I’m going to be going to unknown territory, it’s best to know as much as I can about him. I wanted to look up the armor and weapon ranks as well, but Felix told me that the angel is constantly observing me and If I find out information before the completion of the quest line it will lower my score. Although I found it odd didn’t look it up as he asked I wanted the best score I could get.
When the servers were about to come back on we both went back to our rooms with Felix reminding me to ask for help if I need it one last time. I laid in bed waiting for the server to come back on with the visualizer on. It was dark like usual, but suddenly I was blinded by white light, and I was back in the game, where I had logged out.
