Beast Taming: Starting From Zero - Chapter 137: Beauty and Peace
Yabao froze for a moment and turned to look at the still unconscious Water Luriana lying on the sofa.
Was the culprit really this pitiful?
Seeing Yabao’s expression, Qiao Sang knew that he had softened.
She continued, “Maybe it sprayed water on you because it was lonely and wanted to play.”
Little Treasure stopped pulling things out of his ring and gave his Beastmaster a sidelong glance.
No ghost would believe that, and he certainly didn’t.
Yabao seemed to be deep in thought. So, that’s how it was?
Seeing that the persuasion was almost working, Qiao Sang said sincerely, “When it wakes up, we need to greet it kindly, make it feel love and warmth.”
She sighed.
“This child is really pitiful.”
“Yap…”
Yabao’s expression grew conflicted as he looked at the still closed eyes of Water Luriana.
At first, he hadn’t noticed, but now he realized just how small this creature was, he could squish it with a single sit.
So, it probably wasn’t provoking him by spraying water, but was just trying to play, as his Beastmaster said…
Thinking this, Yabao nodded.
“Yap.”
“Yap Yaap.”
Just a greeting, right? He could handle that.
Qiao Sang wanted to laugh but held back.
It wasn’t hard to guess why Water Luriana had sprayed water at Yabao.
Last night, during skill practice, he had blown fire at the pool, and so, soaking Yabao but sparing her and Little Treasure.
Online, it said Water Luriana was gentle by nature, a symbol of beauty and peace.
If that was true, as long as she showed friendliness, it shouldn’t be hard to win its approval over time.
Tomorrow, she’d ask the teacher for the meditation technique to enhance her mind domain.
Once she unlocked the third page of her Beastmaster Codex… Hehehe… Qiao Sang couldn’t help but laugh.
Seeing her goofy grin, Little Treasure recalled the earlier conversation and snickered too. Both his Beastmaster and Yabao were so silly.
Just then, Water Luriana on the sofa opened its eyes.
Every movement of this rare pet, comparable to a divine beast, tugged at Qiao Sang’s heart, so she noticed immediately when it awoke.
With its eyes closed, Water Luriana looked unbearably cute, but when it opened them, the feeling was completely different.
Its eyes were dark like the depths of the ocean, transforming its aura from adorable to mysterious.
Qiao Sang froze for a second, then put on her warmest smile and said, “You’re awake-”
Before she could finish, a water jet hit her straight in the face.
Qiao Sang: …
“Yap!”
Seeing his Beastmaster get sprayed, Yabao instantly flared up, forgetting all about the earlier plan and charging forward, ready for a three hundred-round battle.
“Wait!” Qiao Sang raised her left hand to calm it down.
“I’m fine!”
She wiped the water off her face.
It wasn’t hard to understand Water Luriana’s reaction. She’d just knocked it out, so how could she expect a warm greeting in return?
But it was okay, everything could be fixed.
Water Luriana was gentle by nature, a symbol of beauty and peace!
Qiao Sang forced a smile.
“Well, let’s…”
“Pfft…”
Another water jet interrupted her.
Qiao Sang: !!!
Beauty and peace, my foot! At least let me finish a sentence!
“Yap!”
Yabao’s fur bristled, glaring angrily at Water Luriana.
“Lu Lu!” Water Luriana, though much smaller, wasn’t the least bit intimidated by the massive Flame Hound. It raised its head high, openly challenging Yabao.
Its expression was proud, its attitude defiant, but the sudden appearance of two water bubbles under its nostrils instantly shattered its cool image.
Qiao Sang’s hands itched to capture this scene on camera…
“Yap!”
“Lu Lu!”
The two pets locked eyes, sparks flying, on the verge of battle.
Just then, Little Treasure floated between them holding two bottles of milk.
“Xun.”
“Xun Xun.”
He hadn’t forgotten the task his Beastmaster had entrusted him with.
Qiao Sang breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness for Little Treasure. If Water Luriana wouldn’t listen to her, she could only rely on Little Treasure.
Seeing his little companion step in, Yabao calmed his aggression.
Water Luriana stared at the milk in front of it, the bubbles under its nose popping.
It seemed to remember something, and with a flick of its tail, it swatted the milk out of Little Treasure’s paws.
“Yap!”
Yabao’s eyes darkened as he opened his mouth, revealing fangs wrapped in flames for the first time in a long while.
Water Luriana lifted its head indifferently, blue light gathering at the tip of its tail, and the visible ripples of water started to accelerate rapidly.
“Xun Xun!”
Once again, Little Treasure, with two bottles of milk in his claws, took up the role of mediator.
Water Luriana blinked at the milk that had somehow returned to Little Treasure’s paws.
Little Treasure’s head tilted, quickly understanding Water Luriana’s thoughts.
He released the milk, letting it drop. But just before it hit the ground, the milk stopped mid-air and floated back up.
So that’s what it was, Little Treasure had used telekinesis to retrieve the milk.
“Xun Xun~”
After his little show, Little Treasure once again offered the milk to Water Luriana.
Water Luriana stared blankly at the milk. It hadn’t expected that, after what it had done, the pet would still be offering it the milk.
“Yap!”
“Yap Yap!”
Yabao, still baring his fiery fangs, gestured for his little brother to move aside so he could fight first. He had enough of this creature!
“Xun Xun.”
Little Treasure shook his head, having never forgotten his Beastmaster’s orders.
Qiao Sang, watching from the side, felt deeply moved. She never expected Little Treasure to handle this so well!
Water Luriana, too, seemed touched by Little Treasure’s actions for a couple of seconds.
In the next moment, the blue light on its tail disappeared, and the water ripples returned to normal. It then jumped off the sofa and ran toward the courtyard.
“Xun Xun!”
Little Treasure, panicked, wanted to chase after it.
Yabao watched the culprit flee, the flames on his fangs fading, and sneered in the direction Water Luriana had run.
Coward. Too scared to fight.
“Xun!”
Little Treasure anxiously tried to follow.
But Qiao Sang called it back just in time.
“Forget it, don’t chase it. It knows you mean well.”
She had been observing the whole time. This Water Luriana didn’t match its peaceful reputation online; it wasn’t gentle or fond of humans.
It had sprayed her twice without a second thought, but it had hesitated when facing off against Yabao.
It was clear Water Luriana had been prepared to fight, but backed down under Little Treasure’s persuasion, showing it had a softer side.
Qiao Sang suspected Water Luriana hadn’t left the house entirely.
For a wild extraordinary pet, the city was dangerous, especially for one as rare as Water Luriana. It would probably get captured the moment it showed itself.
Coming all the way from the ancient fog Guwu region to Yuhua, it had likely experienced such things.
If it determined that staying here posed no danger, it wouldn’t leave so easily.
Although things hadn’t gone as smoothly as she’d hoped, with no friendly handshake to seal the deal, there was still time…
Qiao Sang began to imagine the future.
Little Treasure floated over to her, pouting and looking pitiful.
“Xun Xun…”
The milk hadn’t been delivered.
Qiao Sang’s heart softened, and she gently said, “You did really well.”
“Xun.”
“Xun Xun…”
Little Treasure called out in a teary voice.
He hadn’t delivered anything. Did that mean no tenfold reward of resources?
Qiao Sang: …
