Beastly Fēi That Goes Against the Heaven: Coerced by the Huáng Shū - Chapter 192
The forest was so big. Hundreds of miles around had been circled up and served as the Royal Hunting Ground, which was only open for the royal family at big festivals, such as the Emperor’s birthday and the Spring Festival. And when it came to August, they would hold a small-scale hunting conventionally.
“I’m so sleepy…”Jing Yue was yawning while lying on the couch in the carriage.
She was awoken by Xiao Chen early in the morning and then managed to gather her spirit to meet the Emperor and his concubines. Now, she returned to the carriage and there was no need to assume a feigned manner. Lying on the couch, she looked so sleepy. With his chin on his hand, Xiao Chen smiled silently at her on the other side of the carriage.
“We still have a long way to the hunting ground; take some rest,” said Xiao Chen gently.
“Okay……” answered Jing Yue vaguely and then quickly fell asleep.
When they arrived at Jianshan Mountain, she had had a good rest. She got off the carriage to enjoy the beauty of the mountain, then her eyes focused on the palace on the mountaintop. She frowned questioningly when she saw it.
“Why should we camp at the foot since there is a palace on the mountaintop?” Jing Yue turned to Xiao Chen.
“That palace is for sacrificial rites, and the hunting is not held there,” explained Xiao Chen, following her eyes.
“I see…” Jing Yue nodded but she didn’t really understand, without giving it second thought. After Xing Yi came to report that the camp was ready for them to rest, Jing Yue refused however. She already had enough rest on the way here.
“Xing Er, has General Shangguan come?” She turned to Xing Er and asked.
“Of course he is here. It’s General Shangguan’s duty to guarantee everyone’s security during the hunting.” Xiao Chen answered her at this moment, “And your bestie is here, too. If you are bored, go and find her before the hunting begins.”
“Oh! Really?” Jing Yue’s eyes were shining.
“Yeah! Xing Er, lead the way for Her Highness. Be careful.” Xiao Chen enjoined Xing Er. Seeing her go away with Xing Er happily, Xiao Chen went into the tent.
Jing Yue was surprised at these nearly finished tents. She nodded while thinking to herself, ‘Many hands make light work.’ She knew the hunting would start tomorrow, so now she just wanted to find Shangguan Linglan and to stay with her for a while.
“Third brother! Look at Fifth Brother! He always bullies me!” Jing Yue saw Shangguan Linglan in the distance. Linglan was sitting on the ground in a mess and glaring at a smiling handsome man, who seemed fifteen years old or so.
“You can’t blame him for your own incapability,” said Shanggguan Minhao, Shangguan Linglan’s third brother. Jing Yue had met him before.
In a circle of soldiers, it seemed that they were having a competition. Apparently, Shangguan Linglan was lost, so she deliberately refused to get up and was complaining to Shangguan Minhao about what her fifth brother had done to her.
“Humph, both of you are bullying me! I’ll tell daddy!” Shangguan Linglan got up, patted the dust on her clothes and raised her chin arrogantly.
Her words scared this handsome man. His face changed all of a sudden. He hastened to stop her and said in a strained voice, “Oh, don’t do that! I’ll let you beat me in turn!”
