Beautiful Monsters - Chapter 2
As soon as they got in there, they all had decided it’s best to split up to fit in making it easier to secretly look for the sealed document that was said to be in the house. Inside, there was a great amount of people scattered around the house wearing various types of luxurious outfits that included fancy dresses to high-class tuxedos. The interior of the house was crowded overwhelmingly with party guests with some being in sync when dancing and others just standing around talking about gossip. Different colored bright lights were flashing in front of everyone’s eyes as they roamed about the party. The group’s entrance was subtle, yet only Lon had been the one affected immediately by the loud music and lights which caused him to become disorientated. He had felt off-settled enough to the point where he begun seeing the world go in slow motion constantly hearing murmurs of conversations nearby as he looked left and right being off balanced walking around the house. Lon somewhat came back to his senses realizing that the group of three had split up already in different sections of the house. The first words that came clearly being said to him was by a female party guest in a black silk-woven dress. She was heard saying, “Hey. Are you okay because you don’t look too good?” as she grabbed a hold of Lon bringing him down to sit on the couch carefully. He felt that this was an experience in his life that woke up him about certain ideals. Finally, Lon fully came back from the odd slow motion effect that only happened to himself and started talking back to the unknown party guest who was sitting beside him. Lon says “Excuse me, what’s your name?” as he looked at her, putting his hand on top of his forehead because of the trauma caused by the lights and music. The girl had said back to him unsure of what’s wrong with him, “Abigail Serith. Why?” Lon then takes off his hand from his forehead, starting to realize that she’s the wife of the host of the party and owner of the house, Chris Serith. Feelings of dislike quickly seeped into his mind as he suddenly stands up starting to look down at her telling Abigail, “You’re married to Chris?” Abigail does the same, standing up to almost reach eye level with him beginning to go off on a conversation with Lon inside the living room while everyone else either walked around talking to each other or dancing to the music. As the two talked, Adrien was seen approaching Lon and when he came close enough, stops in his tracks next to Lon whispering to him in his ear, “I found the sealed document it’s in the guest bedroom upstairs which is now an office.” Knowingly he would do something like that, Lon looked straight at him and then back at Abigail saying “Hold that thought for just a minute. I’ve got to take care of something.” as he starting to walk over to the stairs right beside Adrien ignoring his odd ways of behavior. Abigail nods in agreement beginning to wonder elsewhere in the house to talk to someone else as the two men went upstairs. Adrien quietly opened the door to the office as Lon followed right behind him entering the room where the sealed document was in one of the drawer’s of the desk. Adrien then opens the drawer with the sealed document in there that had Lon’s name written onto it and had been titled criminal records. However, as soon as Adrien picked it up, Chris Serith was already at the door entrance to the room staring down both of the men. Both Lon and Adrien first looked at each other then at Chris knowing that they just got busted doing something suspicious in his house. Chris says demandingly as he looked at Adrien, “Now here’s how this is going to go. You’re going to hand that document over to me and if you don’t then, well you’re going to regret it.” as he walks closer to them. Once Chris got close enough to Adrien, Lon quickly grabbed Chris’ arm starting to turn it as he looked into his eyes making Chris immobile due to the pain. All you could hear was his horrific yell once that had happened. Adrien ran out of the room and went downstairs as Lon held onto his arm looking at Chris, saying “No, here’s how it’s really going to go ‘down’ I’m going to throw you out of this window and you’re going to die as soon as you hit the ground. Oh wait? You don’t like that idea, too bad because it’s going to happen anyways.” Lon then picked up a lamp that was on the desk with his other arm that was free of use and smashed into his chest which resulted in the lamp breaking into shards of pieces causing damage to Chris. This caused Chris to take a kneel down as Lon was still holding onto his hand roughly. After that, Chris says “You’re not going to get away with this. I will kill you.” while looking up at him. Lon doesn’t say a word but instead begins to grab Chris from the shirt and throws him out of the window from the second story in the house. The glass from the window shattered into pieces as Chris’ body fell onto the front lawn of the house. Right after that, many people were curious as to what the commotion was about upstairs which caused tons of party guests including the wife, Abigail who was deeply in love with Chris for some years now to enter the office room seeing an empty office room with a broken window and Chris’ body outside. It was strange how Lon wasn’t in the room by the time everyone had went up there. He was already walking calmly downstairs as the guests passed him by minding his own business tending to a cigar, attempting to spark a flame to light the cigar so that it burns. Lon soon met up with Abiah, Adrien and Blaine downstairs inside the house after that incident in the office. You could hear loud screams and people panicking upstairs as the wife rushed downstairs, running outside to tend to her husband, Chris who was dead by then laying down face first on the grass which was covered in blood. Lon and the group of three walked calmly outside trying to get away from the scene as much as possible. They had all got inside of their cars, quickly taking off returning to their own homes as the night passed by. Soon David Pletcher and the FBI agent’s were called to the crime scene where Chris’ body was laying in the lawn. Police department caution tape was taped around the area as soon as possible while police sirens blared around the neighborhood. David was seen getting out from the FBI’s black van approaching the body as cops and the other agents searched the area. He quickly analyzed the scene noticing there was glass shards next to his body which brings him to the conclusion that Chris was thrown forcefully out the window from the second story with enough brute force to cause a broken neck in the fall. A local police officer who was at the scene first had walked over to David saying “This is a tragedy.. The man was thrown out of the window during a party for unknown reasons so far. We have yet to know who the murderer is or do you maybe think this was a form of suicide?” David kneels down getting on one knee picking up a burnt cigar that was on the ground with his hands that was in crime scene with gloves to prevent any interference with the fingerprints. As he did so, David said “This isn’t a suicide, it seems there was someone who wanted to light a cigar at the party which is a common thing most killer’s like to do because it relieves some type of negativity in their life. They’ll often murder then light one up and smoke it because It makes them totally forget about what they did.” He stands up right after saying that, putting the cigar carefully in a plastic bag he was carrying in his pocket then giving it to the forensics agent so she can deal with the murder clues. The male police officer that was talking to David is Alexis Solvez who was the same one from earlier that talked to David in the FBI’s meeting room. David says reassuringly, “Look, I’m going to call him unsub for now but I have a strong idea who the murderer may be. If it is who I think it is then I wouldn’t worry, he’s in too over his head to dodge us anymore. The killer will be behind bars in no time.” as he took off his reading glasses off from his nose closing it together and begins walking over to the van.. Alexis nods saying “You’re right.” as he looks at the crime scene analyzing it more deeply with one of his hands on his hip and the other one on his equipment belt. Meanwhile at Lon’s house, Adrien had brung the sealed document with him so they both can destroy the evidence so that Lon doesn’t have to go to jail for his past criminal record. Adrien put the sealed document onto Lon’s dinner table that was near the kitchen as they both looked down hoping that it was in there. The suspense built up as Lon slowly removed the clip that on the front of the sealed document then opened it showing nothing inside of there. Lon and Adrien looked at each other then back at the empty sealed document which was found out to be a decoy for Lon’s criminal records. The real sealed document’s location with that information was unknown but Lon had an idea that it was in the possession of David Pletcher. Lon had threw the empty sealed document onto the ground and walked slowly to a huge painting of his that was of the last supper next to the table. He crossed his arms beginning to think of how he can get it away from David without him or the police department noticing. Adrien says “I don’t understand. It should’ve been there.” as he puts both of his hands on the table looking in the direction of where Lon was standing. Lon then says back, “That’s the thing right there, David’s intelligent enough to make sure there’s always a backup plan or some type of decoy that relates to whatever he’s doing. It’s quite a thing he does, I’ve noticed.” as he looks at the painting still paying attention to the conversation. Adrien and Lon both talk for quite some time in his house but once it was late enough, Adrien had made his exit going home for the night. The morning came but the sun didn’t set this time; instead clouds and harsh rain formed. While it was still early in the morning, David, Alexis and a fair amount of police car’s had parked in front of Lon’s house getting out of their vehicles waiting for further instructions. The crime last night was a huge key factor in making this happen. Without Lon sparking that cigar earlier at the party, this would’ve been happening at a later time but it was already too late. David’s voice came through the microphone which was pointed towards Lon’s house. Lon wakes up due to the microphone hearing David from inside of his room. Knowing it was David right away, he got up from the bed and made a quick call to Abiah with the cell phone that was on his cabinet right next to the master bed. You could hear David’s voice from the microphone right outside the house saying “Listen, I know you’re in the there Lon I want you to know that we all know you’re the murderer of the victim. Just come outside and give yourself up, that’ll be the best option you can count on. Don’t make this any harder than it has to be.” Though the microphone was loud enough to hear through the house Lon was barely paying any attention to what David had to say because he knew that those officers would shoot at him any chance they get. He instead payed more attention to Blaine through the phone, talking back and forth on what they should do about this current situation. He informs Blaine to come to his house behind the cars and cause some sort of distraction so that way he can make another brilliant escape. Something however seemed off today as if this scheme of escaping didn’t seem too possible because of how he was surrounded. Once Lon had hung up the phone, he walked downstairs in a timely manner and approached the entrance of his house waiting for a bit near the front door so that Blaine can have enough time to come. Soon enough, right before David was going to give the final warning to Lon, Blaine was seen walking behind the police cars slowly approaching them. David and Alexis both turned around to see Blaine walking up to the police squad cars. David was about to say something but all he could do was wait for something to happen. All the cops attention were now on Blaine as they looked and pointed their guns in his direction. However as he kept walking towards them getting too close for their own comfort, getting warned twice not to keep walking towards them, Blaine was then shot in the right of his chest. After he was shot once, Blaine had fell onto both knees on the ground and put both of his hands up at that moment. You could now hear Alexis who grabbed the microphone out of David’s hand and begun to talk to Blaine. Alexis says “It doesn’t have to be this way Blaine but you forced us.” as he looked in his direction. As Blaine was getting all the attention in the middle of the street in front of Lon’s house, Lon begun to flee the scene but right before that he took a glance at Blaine noticing how much dedication it took to do something like that for someone and then took off in his convertible. Lon’s car was heard as he drove off while everyone was focused on someone else which caused David to get inside of his car trying to track down and capture Lon Bryce once and for all while everyone else there deals with Blaine. A wild car chase was starting to happen with the two men while Blaine was caught in action because of his bullet wound and put into the back of a police officer’s car with straps of bandage over his wound to keep it from bleeding. Lon drove quickly and effectively as he was doing fast turns at every corner trying to lose David. That didn’t seem to work though because he was right behind him on his tail. Lon tried his best to out maneuver him by quickly stopping the car and begins to run out to an alley turning the corner which turned out to be a dead end. David caught up with Lon, parking his car right next to his convertible and runs after him in the alley way. Lon gets cornered at the very end of the alley way as David walks closer to him pointing a handgun in his direction. Lon had eventually gave in, letting David put handcuffs on him and arrest him, bringing him to back to his vehicle. They were both sent to the FBI agency for a interrogation about the crime scene on the night of the party. Lon was seen sitting down in the empty room near the table by himself until David calmly walks into the room sitting down with him on the other side of the table. He had took off his reading glasses folding it, putting it onto the table as he sighed and crosses his legs starting to talk to Lon. David says “Now, I know I sound a tad up front but I think we both know that you’re the murderer of the victim, Chris Serith. Evidence leads us straight to believe that you’re the one who was at that party last night with Blaine and that you threw him out the second story window.” as he looks across the table at Lon awaiting his reply. Lon replies “It wasn’t a planned murder but more of an act of self-defense as he was threatening Adrien to give up the criminal records. Tell me David, how is protecting yourself and someone else from harm a hateful crime?” David then uncrosses his legs and stands up saying, “It’s only a hateful crime because it wasn’t proved the victim was truly threatening to cause harm, really the only statement he said that sounded off setting was ‘if not then you’ll regret it’ but other than that he checks off as completely innocent.” as he looks down at him. Lon keeps a straight face as he says brings his hands together on table in a comfortable position, saying “Don’t you read government’s book which is called The Book of Law? On page one-sixty three, it states that people who are in harm’s way shall act in self defense when feel need be to protect oneself and others in a justifiable way.” as he looks back at David keeping calm about the topic.
David then walks over to his side of the table and once over there, he says “The context from that book is more than hundreds of years old which contains laws that are irrelevant and changed. If you do have to know, that law does exist; however it’s structured differently to a way that it’s useless against my current standpoint. If I were you, I’d be more logical about how you’re approaching this subject for it’s more than just a criminal form of a jenga game.” as he leaned against the table looking down at him. Lon quickly remarks “I want to get my lawyer.” as he looks up at David with pure hatred against him in his eyes. A phone call was arranged for Lon so he can call his lawyer saying that he needed him to come to a court session. Soon after that, the interrogation with Lon was over and David left the room going behind the wall to the other room, looking at Lon from the one-sided see through glass. Lon was then grabbed and put into a different room while as for Blaine, he was just given a strict case of house arrest for some time because they suspected him being involved in the murder but there was no further actual proof that’s true. Lon was left in the other room for a bit as someone finally let him out to go home because he’s going to court tomorrow to testify against the case and try to prove he’s innocent which almost seemed impossible at this point because of the solid evidence that existed. As he went home, the television was seen left on in the living room with one of the news channels talking about the same crime scene, however Lon thought it was interesting because the murder Blaine had done was as if it never happened, the news never covered it and the police department or anyone in that case had never found out about it. The media at this point had tons of controversy about criminals such as Lon Bryce. Once he had saw it was playing on the television, he walked over to it and turned the tv set off with a click of a button trying to ignore the daily issues in his life. The whole day had passed by as Lon sat on his couch in the living room as he was looking at the pitch-black television before passing out. The next day soon came as Lon was seen putting on a tie as he’s nicely dressed in a suit without his black glasses on which was sitting folded up on the bathrooms countertop. He’d confidently look at his reflection in the mirror beginning to put on his glasses that shined a bit of sunlight onto the mirror from the light that was coming from the bathrooms slightly opened window. He then made his way outside to his just-washed convertible beginning to drive to the courtroom with no intentions of doing a crime in the process. Once Lon entered the courtroom, he saw David, Abigail, the rest of victims family and other people there such as agents and lawyers. Lon walked to where he would be and sat down right next to his lawyer, John Crowder who was a world-wide known professional in law and crime. If anybody was going to prove that Lon is innocent in a crime such as this, it would have to be him. Everybody had sat down after the judge said with a clear voice, “Court is now in session. You may sit down now. As for the wife of the victim, you can stand and speak up about the situation.” as he slammed his gavel onto the judge’s podium making a banging noise. Abigail had stood staying up starting to talk, saying “Judge, this man clearly is guilty if he had to convince such a lawyer to travel from far distances just for one court session. That definitely approves something, that he has something to hide from this case. I mean, it’s one thing to ruin a party but to murder someone’s husband over a sealed document is another thing. That completely goes across the line.” as she looks at the judge hoping she’d aspired him to be on her side with the topic. The judge then says “I see. Well, I’m quite sorry for you’re lost as this was a horrific crime scene. I understand fully where you’re coming from, thank you for your input. Now the suspect may talk.” as he looked down at them all from the podium. Abigail had sat down letting Lon explain himself about the crime done that night as he stood up from his seat. Lon says “Sir, from my perspective I’ve come to a party where all is welcomed and then suddenly me and Adrien were threatened by the man known as Chris Serith. Notice how I didn’t say the word victim? This is because I strongly believe that he’s no victim when it comes to this specific case. He was in fault of his own death which happened only for his rash decisions in that moment in time that night.” as he walked up getting to a fair distance away the podium. The judge was about to say something as he was interrupted by David who stood up in a blink of an eye saying “This is absurd nonsense. This man violently attacked the victim because of simple misplaced words in a sentence. There’s a study from several universities that proves these types of people are often put into either jails or places of solitary confinement where they can’t be let out because of their harsh behaviors in society. I happen to not just believe but simply know that this man is guilty of his sins he’s made.” The judge then slams the gavel onto the top of the podium as he yelled out “Order please! That interruption wasn’t need yet I understand your point, now let the suspects lawyer talk in peace.” David and Lon both stayed standing up as John stood up as well beginning to talk. John says “You’re judge, it’s not what I believe or what the media believes as a matter of fact. It’s the concept of reality vs probability that rests on this case which frustrates Lon because he doesn’t deserve any of this treatment for he was only following the law, protecting himself and an acquaintance at the time of the incident. Sure you found his cigar there, but as from reports on local news channels covering the crime scene, many people were there at the time said they would’ve done the exact same thing as his life was on the line. Now, it could’ve been handled differently but he eliminated the probability of his life being taken away.” as he looked up at the judge. The judge then said in a deep clear voice “Enough, we find him to be innocent of this crime because of him following an existing law at the time of the murder. This case is closed and the court session is now over.” as he pounded the gavel onto the podium. After he said that, everybody had looked at each other beginning to stand up almost all at once starting to leave the room with murmurs to other people about the case. David looks at Lon making eye contact and begins to exit the room with the others in front of him. Lon gains a small grin as he was walking out of the courtroom behind everyone else including the Judge. However, once Lon made his way outside of the building, David was waiting outside for him by the exit. Lon continues to walk toward the exit anyways eventually passing by David ignoring he was there right in front of him. David watched him pass by and continue to make his way to his convertible. Feelings of disappoint we’re starting to build up inside David’s mind as he thought he had a great chance of finally putting Lon behind bars. An hour passes by as everyone else made their way home besides David who decided to visit the FBI agency. As he was entering his office in the building, his work phone started to ring over and over again until he picked it up wondering who it was at a time like this. Come to find out, Abiah was the one on the other side of the phone beginning to talk to David. You could hear her voice as she began to speak, “Hey, I wanted to know if you’d like to come get coffee with me in the morning and hang out. I want to give you some time to just relax because all of this FBI crime stuff is probably exhausting for you.” she said in a kind toned manner.
for visiting.
