Because She Had A Time Limit, She Became The Villain’s Daughter-in-law - Chapter 105
15. Prepare To Run Away
The first thing I did after arriving in Borotna was to meet another doctor secretly through Serena.
“Ah, the ankle…”
The doctor checked my ankle and tilted his head.
“If it had been treated as soon as I saw it, it would have been fine already though it has been a long time. Injuries with bones like this get worse the more they are left unattended.”
“No way…”
I asked, drenched in anxiety.
“If you have to cut off your ankle or something…”
As Medor’s prosthetic leg came to mind, I thought about getting what life gives me.
“Oh, my gosh… Hahahaha. Why would I cut your ankle with this amount?”
At my words, the doctor laughed as if it was ridiculous and continued, “You weren’t seriously hurt. You won’t feel any discomfort in your daily life.”
“Yes? Actually, it doesn’t hurt that much…”
“Still, the treatment is going to take a long time. I mean, you probably shouldn’t overdo it for half a year.”
“Overdo it, how much are you talking about?”
“If possible, don’t run, and don’t do strenuous exercise.”
“Ah.”
I nodded happily.
“If that’s the case, I’m confident. I hate doing that.”
The doctor prescribed some medicine and went back. I then called Marcel. He had been steadily coming and going in and out of Baron Ravonis’ residence until now. Although not often, people in this arearoughly recognizedg him as ‘visiting regularly.’
“Come on, let’s set the table.”
After taking the ring off of me as usual, Marcel was on fire as usual. Naturally, as people came and went outside the window, they glanced past ‘that shy Baron Ravonis.’
“Oh, you’ll do that.”
I spoke, playing chess.
“You don’t have to come anymore.”
“…What?”
When Marcel asked in surprise, I repeated my words again.
“You don’t have to come anymore.”
“Why, why?”
“Ah.”
I gave a clear reason.
“I’m feeling better now, so I’m going to go into the Duke’s residence.”
“….”
After all, I was going to be completely missing, so it was a good excuse for Marcel.
“Did you do what I told you to do in the temple so far?”
“Yes.”
Strangely, Marcel blinked in shock.
“It would be my loss if I told you that I was alone with you in someone else’s mansion.”
“Yes, don’t forget about it. You just don’t stop at places like this, you come to the villa to bless regularly, and then you go right away. Got it?”
“All right. Well… It’s like I’ve been nagged all this time.”
Again, the power of games and gambling was terrifying. How was it possible to get a priest who wanted to stay inside the temple so hard? It seemed that he was shocked for a moment as he just stared at his chessboard.
“Marcel.”
I put my palm in front of him and waved it.
“What’s the matter? Why are you still using the Imperial language? This is not a matter of money.”
“Yes, I know.”
Marcel let out a sigh and rolled his eyes.
“Just… It’s the first time I’ve had such a long relationship with an ordinary person.”
“Oh, so you’re saying you don’t want to say goodbye right now?”
“No, don’t get me wrong.”
“Hmm.”
Seeing me reply immediately, Marcel added with a chuckle.
“I wanted to win once…”
“Oh, so you’re saying you want to keep coming here?”
“Can I go to the Duke’s residence? Oh, I can’t.”
He added sullenly.
“Seven years ago, when I stopped by the Duke’s residence and gave a blessing… The Young Duke was looking at me like he was going to catch me and kill me.”
“Evan?”
“He must have a more terrifying look now.”
“That’s right. It’s no joke.”
After I answered frankly, I added, “Not only the Duke’s residence, but for the time being, it would be better to stay locked up in the temple and not meet any visitors.”
“What? Why…?”
Because soon, Seymour would learn the secret of Marcel’s ring and come to take the money.
It didn’t matter if Marcel robbed Seymour, though seeing that face was a bit difficult. It was evidents that Seymour would have seen his face at least once. So, as soon as he saw Marcel, he would know the full story of the case.
“There is someone who is looking for you. Seymour Gold Litshua.”
“…Unbelievable!”
“If that person comes to see you, never meet him… No, how about just going to a place like Carovantes for a short-term study abroad?”
“I’ll think about it. I’ll remember the name for now. Seymour Gold Litshua… That man, but why…”
“Oh, he’s going to blackmail you for money.”
“…Oh, my God.”
Marcel sighed in horror after he heard my words before muttering back, “I will never meet him. By the way…”
Glancing around, he uttered thoughtfully.
“Today is the last day, then this mansion.”
“Right.”
“It was so barren at first, but now… It’s like a luxury mansion.”
Indeed, this mansion was the place where my efforts were most piled up. It was quite enjoyable to earn money and buy one household item each time. Now, it had become a complete mansion where I could come in and live at any time.
“Marcel.”
I spoke with a grin.
“Are you sorry? Would you like me to lose the chess today?”
“…What. Not just chess.”
Marcel didn’t really deny it.
“Because we’ve been going back and forth for six years.”
That evening, a new rumor circulated in Southwestern social circle.
Baron Kyle Dart Ravonis was there, but there were rumors that he wouldn’t be able to come for a while. It was said that he had decided to go to the East continent for a long time because there was something to do, where exchanges had just resumed recently.
After he said the last goodbye to Laria, whom he had been best friends with, he also left letters to Kate and several other nobles he had often met.
* * *
So, I returned to Borotna and began to organize things step by step. As usual, I met and interacted with Southwestern circles once though I was conscious that this would be the last time.
The next thing I did was to meet Seymour.
Since, obviously, there was something to be gained. As promised, he returned to Hanua as soon as the masquerade was over.
“Here.”
I called him in as usual under the guise of a tea party. And, for the two ladies who were invited together, of course, ‘something urgent happened that day.’ It was only after there were only the two of us that I spoke quickly.
“Please, settle it up. Business was very good.”
“You’re right.”
Seymour sat in front of me and grinned.
“It was a really cool idea to put fortune telling inside the cookies.”
In fact, it was a more surprising idea to do a light fortune-telling business at the masquerade.
It was a very appropriate atmosphere because everyone wanted to get light fortune-telling in the festival that everyone was excited about in ten years and the expectation of a subtle romance that came with wearing a mask.
‘Somehow… It seems that Seymour’s idea was given the advantage of the possessor’s original world.’
Still, I was going to keep only the truth that only I knew, forever.
“Yes, I was pretty cool.”
“You definitely have a talent for business.”
Seymour said with a smirk.
“I have always admired Miss Laria as a partner. I think we get along really well. Even iron ore mines…”
“That’s what Baron Ravonis taught me.”
“No. However, Miss Laria, who delivered it to me, is my goddess of luck.”
“Yes. Well… let’s say so. In any case, please settle the bill as soon as possible. How much is my share?”
To prevent Seymour from falling into sentimentality, I quickly started talking about money.
‘Of course, it would be fine.’
Since I used to say the same thing in advance as Seymour had thought. Seeing the settled amount, I smiled happily. It was as if I had earned all the money I would spend my whole life, including the money I had earned from the iron ore.
‘…Just hold on a little longer.’
I had to wait until Evan was eventually divorced by Elanie. After that, there was no reason for Duke Icard to kill me anyway.
