Because She Had A Time Limit, She Became The Villain’s Daughter-in-law - Chapter 65
Chapter 65
* * *
Someone was startled by the sudden presence of Kyle Dart Lavonis.
It was Seymour.
Until now, he had thought that Baron Lavonis was just a borrowed name. Of course, he was guessing that the real owner of the half Hanua Estate was Laria.
“He is very handsome.”
In fact, rumors grew fatter and fatter through the mouths of those who saw him outside the window.
“When I saw Princess Icard, she was laughing out loud.”
“Those two have known each other before her marriage.”
“Oh my. But, they reunited after coming here?”
Everyone couldn’t say anything in particular because they were afraid of Kate and Laria, but they were already writing a romance novel in their mind.
No one thought that there would be love in an arranged marriage at a young age. Usually, people with that kind of background enjoyed secret love meetings.
Now that Laria was young, it wouldn’t be a big deal, though it was unknown what would happen in the future.
“What?”
Seymour annoyedly asked himself.
“The rumors must have been exaggerated.”
He hated Kyle.
Because of the flour work, Seymour already had a bad image of the landowner people.
It was true that he suddenly became rich enough to be widely rumored, but something didn’t taste good.
However, Kyle hadn’t even shown his nose so far, but he appeared for half a day and left after managing the land perfectly.
Since they shared the Hanua Estate in half, they were inevitably compared to each other.
Kyle didn’t do anything particularly well, he just appeared out of nowhere and took care of it. On the other hand, Seymour’s reputation was not very good, so the image was improved just as a counter benefit.
“Unlike Sir Seymour, who only cares about money, they said that he was born noble and was a very handsome man.”
“It was said that his attire was luxurious. I don’t think he bought the title and became a nobleman.”
Anyway, Hanua was not a land that meant much to Seymour. It was just one of many ways to make money.
Still, he didn’t feel good.
“Let’s see. I think we can make a little more aggressive investment.”
…Maybe that was why.
“As I said at the time, the best time is right before the foundation day. When no one expected that Princess Elani would wear a ruby.”
Looking at Laria working hard on their business plan was the reason why he didn’t like Kyle even more.
“Anyway, the ruby supply is overflowing right now. It would be better if we could buy it from the inland.”
Seymour was now meeting Laria and talking about investing in jewelry.
“Since no one knows the war situation in the border area, I don’t think there is anyone who thinks like us.”
Seymour sighed in admiration.
Laria really must be his soul mate. Obviously, she was thinking and picking out things he wasn’t quite sure about putting into practice.
“So, by the way, I’m heading to Abonitar tomorrow. There is a ruby auction on the thirteenth of this month, and I think it will arrive at that time.”
As listening to Seymour’s destination, she nodded slowly.
“I See. That place has the largest amount of ruby mining, right?”
After discussing the date and price of the ruby purchase, ratio, and storage, Laria stood up and said that she would leave.
She seemed to be really wary of Duke Icard.
For example, this meeting was made by holding a fake tea time. Originally, four people were going to attend, but the two suddenly had an emergency. Of course, the situation had been planned by Seymour in advance.
“If I stay too long it will be bothersome.”
To that, he responded slowly, unknowingly.
“I heard that you, who is so afraid of talking, and Baron Lavonis had tea for quite some time.”
“I have an old relationship with Kyle. It was when I was very young before I got married.”
‘Kyle… Is it that they are so close that she doesn’t even use honorifics? While she insisted that I have to call her ‘Miss Laria’.’
“It’s definitely different from Lord Seymour. Besides, Evan doesn’t like you that much.”
Laria’s expression was docile as if asking what the problem was.
Nevertheless, Seymour did not believe that innocent face.
Who the hell knows?
That she, who looked like such a meek and pretty doll, had a deeper insight into the flow of money than anyone else. So, even if she looked like she didn’t know anything, she might actually know everything.
“But, Kyle…”
“Cough, cough. Cough cough cough.”
When he was about to ask if Evan knew Kyle was there, Laria suddenly started coughing as she was out of breath.
“I can’t. I need to hurry up and see Serena, cough, cough…”
“You mean that playboy-like doctor?”
Rumors about Serena, Laria’s doctor who was staying at Icard’s villa, had already spread in the Southwest.
Even when others ask her about her medical knowledge for help, she just cuts it off by saying, “I’m hired by Miss Laria, so I don’t do any additional work.”
Then, to some nice men, she said, “I want to rest in a field other than medicine in my spare time… For example, your field?”
Of course, Seymour didn’t make it into those ‘nice men.’
Strangely, Serena couldn’t hide her disgusted expression whenever she saw Seymour. Throughout his life, he was confident in his appearance, but in many ways, his pride was a bit hurt.
His looks didn’t work for Laria or her doctor, of course.
‘Rumor has it that Kyle is very classy and handsome.’
So, Laria drinks tea with Kyle without any business, but with him, she talks about money and then disappears.
“Cough, cough… Then see you later.”
Laria got up quickly and left without giving him a moment to hold on to her any longer.
Evan was just a thirteen-year-old kid who was big and had a dead face.
‘Thinking back, I heard that he was a typical nobleman who could only wield a sword…’
At the banquet hall, I saw that he had not interacted much with nobles his age, so he was not good at human relations. At best, it was obvious that he would have grown up in the academy, listening only to the soulless and unconditional praises of upper-middle-class children.
There was no way Laria, who had a fairly high mental age, really liked him. She must be just trying to please him.
That must be why she was struggling to make a slush fund without Evan’s knowledge. Moreover, it was extremely rare for feelings to develop in a marriage of that age in the first place.
‘If she develops some feelings, wouldn’t it be for Kyle?’
Maybe it was because he originally expected to be Laria, but Seymour didn’t like Kyle from the beginning…
“He is definitely different from Sir Seymour.”
Now, he felt like he hated him even more.
10. The first meeting with Elanie.
Evan’s birthday was approaching. I didn’t tell Evan that I was going to his birthday, just in case something unexpected happened. However, when we parted, I said, ‘I’ll be going soon’ of course, with his birthday in mind.
I had already sent my departure date to the Duke’s residence. So, everyone was guessing my departure was to coincide with Evan’s birthday.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to come for a while.”
I spoke politely to the Marchioness of Eldspi.
“Because I’m going to the Duke’s residence in the Capital. It’s my husband’s birthday.”
“I see.”
She answered, holding up her teacup gracefully.
“Then, when can we start the next class? Kate must be sad.”
“I think a month later would be good.”
Marchioness Eldspi’s age was slightly younger than Olivia’s. Nevertheless, she looked much older than Olivia because she was a person who pursued a very elegant look and natural aging.
Like her appearance, her classes had always been soft and warm.
‘You’re completely different from Olivia…’
I only took a class from Olivia once, but it was quite different. Although Olivia’s class would be much more beneficial for sure…
“Have you prepared your husband’s birthday present?”
“Umm… I’m still thinking. Do you have any items you want to recommend?”
“How about a handkerchief embroidered by yourself? It’s probably the most classic gift for a husband.”
‘Embroidery… How can I draw with a thread and a needle when I can’t even draw with a pen?’
It was beyond my abilities and aptitude.
“If you don’t put your own effort into it, it will be like a waste of time, money, and care.”
Wasn’t money made to buy other people’s abilities…?
“Why not buy a really expensive handkerchief instead?”
Of course, I didn’t have a lot of spare money since I was building the Baron’s mansion, though I could afford to buy the prettiest handkerchief.
“I am not confident in what I do with my hands…”
“If embroidering is a burden, how about giving a gift using what the Lady does best?”
The Marchioness Eldspi, with a kind smile, persuaded me. “It doesn’t have to cost money. Young Master Icard has a lot of money, so he can buy anything he wants.”
That was true.
After thinking for a moment, I nodded.
“Thank you, teacher.”
‘What I’m best at…’
“I think I found the answer thanks to you.”
