Being The Carefree Empress - 18 Invitation
I withdrawn my hands and rested it to my waist. Inhaled the fresh air from the surrounding then calmly exhaled. I wipe off the sweat in my neck and face then looked around the place. I woke up 5 am and strolled around the place and I am really loving everything about this courtyard. I don’t know why this used to be “forbidden” or whatnot but I really love this place already. It’s peaceful, refreshing, and calm..
“Rory! Where do I put this?”
Yeah. It’s really nice. I could live like this-
“Uhmm. Over the extra room in South I guess?”
It has been five days since I transmigrated to this world. Time fly fast–
“Rory what about the lunch for later?”
fast by. I wonder how those girls are? Have they been—
“We’ll prepare it after we cleaned the east side!”
I’m sure they been well. They are of course offspring off well kn—-
“Rory! I saw something in the library!”
Well known clan…
“AHHHHH! RORY! IT’S A BIRD!”
“RUN!! RUN!”
I looked at the kids running around the hall. Just what the heck are this kid doing?
“Why are you all guys running around?” I asked as I opened the door leading to the corridor of east side.
“My lady, there’s a bird in the library flying around so we…” Rory was out of breath as he speak. I looked at the five children in his back also out of breath. They really need some exercise. I should have started making routines for them.
“The bird won’t hurt you all unless you attacked it. Just open up the doors and window so it can go out. ” I said to them as I walked towards the library. I looked up and saw three bird on the ceiling flying around. They must have been trapped yesterday when I opened the door.
“Poor birds.”
I approached the door and opened it wide. The bird seeing the lights started flying out the door. I looked up and stare at the birds flying out. It’s a bird I’m not familiar with, but it looks closer to a peacock, although it is white in body and has a blue and red as its wing then doesn’t have the fancy tail like the peacock.
“Greetings, my lady.” I was a bit startled when I saw a blonde young man at the side riding a red-brown horse. He went down and bowed slightly before smiling. He has a light skin and light blue eyes matching his blonde hair. He’s wearing a dark green robe that seems to be wore by servants who’s already serving someone.
“How may I help you?” I asked and went down to meet him. Rory followed me and looked at the blonde guy.
“Pardon me for appearing unannounced. I found the front to be empty and so I followed the noise leading here.” He explained which I just nod and smile. I don’t really mind though. If I were him, I’ll be the same, but probably it isn’t the best conduct here. But this place is different still.
“It’s alright. I wasn’t able to assign someone to the front, so you did as you should.” I smiled. There’s a glint of suprised looked in his eyes, but I wasn’t sure since he smiled back immediately
“For my business here, I am tasked to deliver this month’s supplies and this,” he reached in his robes and took out a red parchment and handed it out to me.
“This is the invitation for a banquet being held at the Zenith Palace as to welcome the ladies and be presented to the public and to His Highness, the Emperor.” I held the invitation a bit tight as I felt my heart beat a little faster. Maybe because I’m excited. A little nervous. Anxious. Just the thought of meeting a royalty and much more is the Emperor is too unreal still.
“Will we meet the Emperor at the banquet?” I asked. Well, maybe he won’t attend now that’s just getting my hopes up.
“Yes. The Emperor is of course will attend the banquet.” He answered. I nodded. Now I’m really nervous.
“If your servant would please join me in receiving the supplies on the front, that would finish my job, my lady.” He said. I looked at Rory and the kids.
“Yes, of course. I’ll also join you guys.” I said and started walking. I didn’t see his reaction but I think it’s alright for me to go to my own frontyard. Plus there’s something I’m still curious about.
“By the way, what’s your name?” I asked when I felt his presence at the sides.
“This servants name is Hue, my lady.” I nodded to him.
“Nice to meet you, Hue. My name is Reenste. Can I say you’ll be the one handling the supply delivery for the past three months in the Shen Courtyard?” I asked.
“Yes. I think that’s about right, My Lady.” He answered as he nodded. I smiled.
“I see. I was told that there are only few people who are allowed to enter here. So tell me..” Before reaching the carriage full of supplies, I stopped and turned to him.
“Which are you?” I asked. He froze then he smiled not getting what I asked. I know it’s probably me being just overly analytical or just straight up concern, but I remembered what Erden said. That this place is forbidden.
“Asides me and the people I brought with me, who are you to be able to be here in Shen Courtyard. So do you have affinity here or you’re under Erden?” I asked. He looked aken as if he’s caught in a trap. I knew it. I then looked at the carriage.
“Geez. Erden doing this out of nowhere. I mean, sure we can be called friends but he should have told me yesterday. We did see each other. He sure is literally full of surprises this time.”
I sighed. I mean what’s up with that? Even telling it as a supply sent from the Palace? I mean. Come on. He’s really—
“My lady?” I looked at Rory then the kids and Hue. They’re looking at me as if I lost it. Did I monologue just now? Shake it out, Reen. Shake it out your system.
“I’m sorry about that, kids.” I smiled then turned my attention to Hue. This is really embarassing. I should really mind my manners.
“Anyways, please tell Erden he doesn’t really have to. I have my own money here that I can buy my own things, okay?” I said to him then ushered him to get on the horse. Then I looked at the invitation.
“But the invitation is really from the Palace, right?” I asked to confirm.
“Yes, that is indeed really from the Palace. Although my lady you should just accept this–” I shook my head thenwave goodbye which he just sighed as if defeated then went on his way with the carriage pulled away by another horse.
“My lady… the person you’re referring to… is it Lord Erden?”I looked Rory a bit stunned. I frowned. So he is working in palace, plus he’s a lord?
“I guess. I didn’t know he was a lord though. So yeah. Do you know him?” I asked. I just wanted to, like know some commonly known knowledge about him that’s all.
“If it is Lord Erden then he’s known as mysterious and indifferent.. People are aware that Lord Erden exist but he didn’t usually attend court meeting. He just meet the Emperor directly. Only few people have seen him that’s all.” He answered.
“Huh.. now that is something.. I wonder why he didn’t appear often in public.” I said to myself, but in my suprise, Rory answered.
“It was rumored that Lord Erden hatedinteraction with women that he just completely shut off other interaction.”
Oh. so that’s why….
Wait! What?
