Beware of the Villainess! - Chapter 15
Why did I just think about how parricide results in additional punishment.
I let slip a faint smile and politely answered him.
“That’s clearly etiquette, and before all else, if you do something like that I get really angry.”
“So. Why? Should I. Mind. You.”
“…… How old is our dearest Jake?”
“Seventeen.”
Jake answered as if it’s strange, and I showed a gracious smile as I raised a hand to hip.
“But you still don’t understand?”
“Yes.”
“Then let’s come to the conclusion that if you do whatever you want with my things again, I’m going to pluck out all of your hair, so you won’t do it ever again, okay?”
I’ll think that even if you don’t understand the importance of considering the privacy of others previously, you still consider your hair precious. Though Jake seemed a little forced, he nodded his head in any case.
“If you understand, go to my room right now and-.’
“Oh my, milady!”
The moment I started to speak, a loud voice that seemed to swallow the estate let alone myself stabbed at my ears. It was to the point that both Jake and I fell off the roof.
“And the young master as well! What are you doing dangerously up there!”
I became flustered and turned to look in the direction of the voice.
On the ground, there was a middle-aged woman who had a stumpy stature. Her half-white, greying hair was neatly tied back, and wore outdoor clothes as if she had just come back home from the market with her two hands filled with baggage.
“……Martha.”
Only after I had heard Jake’s muttering did I finally scan over Melissa’s memories.
Martha was the breast mother that had raised Melissa and Jake when they were young, and once the two of them had grown into adults, she had left the estate to return to her homeland. Though she nagged a little too much, she was the only figure in this wide estate that truly and sincerely loved Melissa. Though I was glad, really glad, to see her, it didn’t seem like there was much of a reason for her to suddenly return to the estate.
“Hurry D-O-W-N!”
Eek.
At Martha’s reprimanding voice that seemed to shake the heavens, Jake and I came down feeling like a frightened 5-year-old child.
“For goodness sake, put aside the young master, but I didn’t think even the milady would also go up to such a place without any fear. Your skirt is all wrinkled!”
As soon as we had met with her, Martha pounded our backs and said vigorously. Though Martha was most definitely smaller than us, she still felt bigger than us.
“Sorry…….”
Feeling like a prisoner for some reason, I said an apology, Martha nodded and immediately looked at Jake with sharp eyes and said.
“What about a young master?!”
“Eh, me too……?”
Jake flinched as it had been a long time since he’d been scolded by someone else and after having been pressed flat by Martha’s pressure, he moved his lips.
“S, sorry…….”
After hearing our apologies, Martha smiled refreshingly and said.
“I’m sorry for scolding you as soon as I’ve arrived, our little lady and master. However, I was really scared! Especially because Milady will soon marry as well…….”
Hm?
“Wait, Martha. What?”
“Marry, milady. You don’t need to be shy! I heard the Royal Palace was going to announce the marriage at the party this spring? When I heard the news, I had rushed over as the nanny who had raised milady throughout your entire childhood.”
I suddenly felt intensely dizzy.
“Congratulations! To marry the handsome Crown Prince you liked so much……. I feel like the child who sang about becoming a princess was like yesterday, but you’re already marrying……. This Martha was so moved…….”
I didn’t hear what she said after that. Because I had lost my consciousness at the overwhelming shock and stress.
I felt like my mental backside had already worn down and disappeared.
Should I break the engagement before the party?
But, for aristocrats to break an engagement, it required the agreement of both sides. Until Ian agreed to break the engagement, there was very little I could do other than beat him up.
