- Chapter 8: Chapter 08: Michael and his Games
After that night we went on dates at least once every week and I always had a good time with him no matter if we went out to a fancy dinner or if we just stayed in and played games.
We had been dating for almost a year and today he invited me out to dinner at this multicultural restaurant that was a 10 minute drive from his house to celebrate my birthday that had just passed but I didn’t believe it.
He had been acting strange all week so I had the feeling that he was going to say something important so I decided that I was going to show him that no matter what I would always be with him. The day of, I spent the day going to the spa, getting my hair and nails done, and just preparing myself for whatever he had to say.
At about 10pm I arrived at the restaurant but there was no one there just a sign saying to go out back. After walking around to the back, the first thing I noticed was the balloons that said “Marriage?” under which Michael was standing.
When I tell you that I about died at that sight I mean that I literally went into shock for a minute and was unable to move.
A few months prior Michael had asked me questions about how I felt about marriage and the proposal but I had assumed that he was just curious but apparently he was planning this.
He came towards me and I punched him in his arms and told him, “If I didn’t love you so much I would disown you for all that you put me through this week.”
“I wanted a dramatic proposal and you had to have no idea what was going to happen today and by the looks of you it seems like it worked. So Victoria Yu would you do me the favor of being Mrs. Wang in the future.” He asked looking nervously.
“Let’s have dinner and then go to your house, I want to show you something before I answer you first okay?” I say with a smile to try to put him at ease a little bit. After dinner we got into our separated cars and started driving to his house.
Upon reaching his house I took the lead and went in and told him to wait a full minute before entering after me and turning on the lights. After waiting a minute he walked in and opened the light and upon seeing what was inside he just burst out laughing and I joined him.
“I guess we know what your answer is huh” He asked while still chuckling.
“You know what they say, great minds think alike” I reply smiling brightly.
I had also had the idea of proposing and I had planned on doing it that same night at his house. A banner was hung above the fireplace that read “I’ll love you to the moon and back, Will you marry me?” along with the banner I had decorated the house with streamers and balloons.
After that night we were officially engaged and after waiting a few months, the day after graduation we drove down to City Hall and got married.
Okay I admit that the engagement/dating period was rushed but I really want to get to the current time.
