- Chapter 9: Chapter 09: The Good News and The Bad News
*Time jump: 2 years later*
It’s been about 2 years since we’ve been married and in that time period we’ve been working hard to be the best in our respected fields.
I’ve always had a thing for real estate and so I opened up my own real estate company, WIM, in Toruntoew and if the many zeroes in my bank account along with the 10 branch offices are to be trusted then I’m doing well for myself.
Michael took over his families Investment Company, WIK, as the CO. I knew that my Husband came from a really wealthy and prominent family but it wasn’t until I saw him on the front of Sebrof top 30 under 30 that I realize how much so.
At first it was hard for us; Him having to keep going to Baeyjin as a part of his job and me having to stay in Toruntoew since my company was/is fairly new and therefore unstable still. Eventually though we figured the perfect way to overcome this difficulty, no matter what we had to meet up at least once every week just like when we were dating.
So far this has worked amazingly and it was on one of these days that I was going to tell him news that I had no idea how he would react to.
That night we had met up at the multicultural restaurant that we had gotten engaged in and I could tell that not only was I nervous but he was also.
“I don’t know how to tell you this or how you’ll react to the news so instead I wrote it down” I say with a nervous chuckle.
“Well I guess that we are still telepathically connected because I also have some news and I also wrote it down, lets switch letters and then we’ll talk how about that love?” He asks with a chuckle that sounded more nervous than mine if that made since.
After switching letters we started reading the letters and while his face gradually brightened, my face darkened after reading the first sentence.
“Are you sure about this, are you positive that this is true, did you talk to Lisa about this.” He asked with a smile on his face.
Let me catch you up about who Lisa is. Lisa is the social worker that we had been in contact with for about 6 months now. Shortly after we had gotten married we were ready to get to the next stage of our lives; having children but no matter how much we tried I couldn’t get pregnant.
After a year we went to the doctors to see if there was a problem and apparently I was barren. The doctor said that it could be due to my rather unhealthy habit prior to Michael (the bulimia), the physical abuse that I suffered, or a number of other reasons but that didn’t change a thing.
In that moment I felt like the world was burning all around me and my fears started to change me. I cried every time I saw a child, I would be just horrid to poor Michael and I even tried to leave him a few times. After dealing with my bull shoot for about 5-6 months one day Michael came home holding a stack of papers. In that moment I thought; this is it, he’s finally going to leave.
What happened couldn’t be further from that thought. Michael called me over and with an authoritarian voice began his monologue.
“I’m done with you pouting like a child. What happened to the flirty, beautiful, smart woman that I married, where is she at? You get the news that you can’t get pregnant and you just give up on us? Well I worked hard to get you and I won’t give up on us like this, no matter what, you are and will always be my wife. Now I’ve been in contact with a social worker named Lisa, and she said that if you want to, we would probably pass all of the requirements to adopt a child. It might not be the ideal situation to you but there are a bunch of children that need parents out there How do you feel about adopting one of them? I’ll leave you here to consider and just know that no matter what you decide I’ll stay with you.” After saying that he left the stack of what turned out to be children on the table in front of me and left in the direction of the study.
After waiting 10 minutes I slowly started skimming through the stack and then I saw him; the child that I knew was the one. His name was Oliver Zhu and he was a year old, he had been left at the door of an orphanage as a newborn in the rain.
After debating on it for 2 hours I told Michael about my decision and from then on we had been trying to adopt him.
“Victoria, Love, are you okay” Michael asked with worry in his tone.
” I’m fine Sweetheart, I mean, I just learned that we were going to be able to get Ollie soon but while this was supposed to be a happy occasion I also learn that my husband was going to be moving to Baeyjin.” Feeling livid and sad at the thought of what this meant I just broke down.
Yes, Michael is leaving for real, this has been my plan since start so that I can get started on the main storyline.
The main storyline will probably start in 1 or 2 more chapters since I want to close this part/arc off nicely.
I bet nobody can guess what WIM or WIK stands for. Hint: it’s funny and has to do with Michael’s last name.
Again thank you to the people who read and comment on this story.
