“What a beautiful room my child.” Mrs. Miller was surprised to what she saw. It was her first time to enter Wei Yang’s room. She loved the elegant and playful style, but she couldn’t help but notice the countless dolls, especially the bears.
“A room full of bears.” Harris sneered, then led Wei Yang to her bed, looking at her feet, and the sneered again. “I think next week will be very inconvenient for you to attend my cla.s.s. Of course, I’ll be glad if you would be absent because I won’t see you for at least a week, troublemaker!” Harris frowned thinking about Wei Yang’s embarra.s.sing situation. But since she always asked some questions during cla.s.s which weren’t so idiotic, he held his thoughts back.
Wei Yang put on a fake smile and responded, “It’s unlikely, Professor. There’s such thing as crutch.” Of course, she can’t miss the cla.s.s. She had to top the cla.s.s and be recognized by Harris and Federline before the school year exam – that’s the ultimate goal.
“Crutches?!” A scream was heard from the door. A lady with a messy hair rushed to Wei Yang’s bed. She kissed Wei Yang’s head again and again, then she looked at her wrapped right foot and was shocked. “Wei Yang, what’s wrong with your foot? What happened?” Andrea heard from Wei Yang’s cla.s.smates, but she was only told that her foot was sprained.
“It’s alright. It’s just a sprain.” Wei Yang answered, pointing to her right – her heeled shoes were beside the bed.
“Oh baby, you’re already perfect enough! You don’t need to wear a pair of high heels just to make you look better. So why did you still wear those?” Andrea knew that all high-heeled shoes have always been troublesome. She suddenly wanted to throw all of Wei Yang’s high heels into the Pacific Ocean!
Harris had no time to go to the theatre. He walked out with Mrs. Miller, closed the door, and left the two noisy women inside. Outside of the castle, the suns.h.i.+ne sprinkled all over his body, making him wrinkle his brows and bow his head. The lasting fragrance of laurel in front of his chest flew up, lingering on the tip of his nose, making people intoxicated and in trance.
“Mom, be sensible. It’s just a sprain. You’re exaggerating.” Wei Yang said helplessly. Of course, she knew that her height of less than a meter and six was nowhere near perfection at all!
“Okay, okay. But my child, you need to understand the heart of an anxious mother!” When Andrea saw that Wei Yang’s look seemed far from being disorderly, she calmed her heart down, clapped her hand, and said, “Don’t go to cla.s.s this week. You need to take more rest. Here… I made a bone soup stew for my baby.”
“Oh, no! Mom! I don’t like that!” Wei Yang shook her head. She didn’t like the strong meet flavor bone soup, including the stew which her mom made.
“Oh, baby. Just take a sip, okay?”
“Isn’t that a lot of waste?”
“No waste. Mother will finish the rest.”
“But…”
“Oh, baby. Look at your poor mother. Just take a sip! Would you like me to buy you another big bear doll?”
“Mom, don’t act like I’m a baby…” Wei Yang’s eyebrows twitched, although Xiahou Xuan always did the same to her.
“Of course, you’re still a baby. You’re only eight years old.”
After few days, Xiahou Xuan and Mo went to the school to ask for help. They brought a lot of toys for Wei Yang which made her think that even though she’s only eight years old, she no longer needed those toys, music boxes, or even those remote-controlled cars. The gifts of Qin Guan, Luo Weiqi, and Luo Lixiu were better. They were either supplements or jewelry in ample amounts.
“Oh, in fact, being loved by many is also a painful thing.” Said Angela, holding the handle of the remote-controlled car as she played with it on the floor, hitting the rag dolls piled on the ground from time to time.
“I absolutely can tell you how happy you are!” Wei Yang aimed a pillow at the back of Angela’s head and threw it!
“Hey!” After Angela was. .h.i.t with the pillow, she responded, “But you can’t deny that these people really care about you. It’s too naive to send too much toys.”
“Ah, it’s all my fault…” She thought it was her memory’s fault. At the age of eight, normal children needed those things. Wei Yang pulled up the quilt and just took a nap.
Angela couldn’t understand what Wei Yang just said, but she didn’t care and simply shrugged her shoulders. She dropped the handle, climbed the window sill, and took a nap with Wei Yang.
Professor Federline’s ‘Introduction to Arms Economy’ was their afternoon cla.s.s. In order to avoid the tragedy last time, they prepared earlier and headed out after their nap. Qin Guan and Qin Yan were already waiting when they arrived downstairs.
“Oh, our sick beauty had a full sleep.” Qin Yan ironically teased, which triggered Angela to give a left hook while Wei Yang rolled her eyes.
Wei Yang’s sprain wasn’t actually very serious. She didn’t require crutches as long as Angela walked while holding her. Fortunately, Angela and Wei Yang had the same cla.s.s that day, so they went to the cla.s.sroom together.
Few days ago, Qin Guan asked Wei Yang and offered to carry her on his back, crouching down. At first, Wei Yang refused to be carried by him, but he was so persistent – squatting down in place, not moving. After a while, she eventually agreed.
In the cla.s.sroom, everyone looked at the minister, but they weren’t shocked. Since they all have chosen to accept the fact numbly, it seemed like each of them acknowledged Wei Yang as the minister’s wife.
“Want some water? It’s still early for cla.s.s, I can get you some water.” Qin Guan asked.
There were vending machines on every floor of each teaching building, which made it very convenient for them.
“You should wear more clothes. It’s already winter.” Qin Guan always thought that Wei Yang wore less clothes.
“Yeah. Thank you.” Wei Yang answered.
“By the way, Miss Smith’s staring skills have improved.” Wei Yang said, fiddling with her newly bought rabbit head ball pen.
“This is your chance to practice for her.” Instead of previewing textbooks, Qin Guan chose to watch Wei Yang play with the things on her hands, acting like a child.
“Well, there’s your share on the credit.” Wei Yang didn’t turn around and began to scribble on her notebook. Her favorite was drawing the big bear – silly but very cute. Well, it’s very similar to Ling Yi’s guard.
When Federline entered the cla.s.sroom, he saw Wei Yang drawing on her notebook lots of bears, like a silly girl.
“Miss Xiahou seems to like bears very much.” Federline never failed to ridicule Wei Yang during cla.s.s. Then he would wait for Wei Yang’s reb.u.t.tals before the cla.s.s actually starts.
When the cla.s.s ended, Wei Yang waited for Qin Guan to go first before she called up Federline, “Professor, I don’t understand the problem!”
Federline took a quick look at her injured foot and wanted to roll his eyes on her. He thought that her action wasn’t pleasant towards him and that this little b.a.s.t.a.r.d seemed to always be a trouble-maker just pretending to be an ordinary student every day. He also believed that he didn’t know the real evil nature of this stupid girl.
“Well, come to the office.” Federline was still a qualified professor. He never refused to ask questions from students, but only those questions raised by his students that were not idiotic.
All of the professors at Edward’s Royal College had a large and independent offices; Federline’s was next to Harris’. They were furnished exactly the same. The only difference was the nameplate on the doorway.
Federline pushed the door open, held on the door, and waited for Wei Yang to go in first.
Federline’s office had a dark green and blue wall, black sofa with a large log black desk, and there were many photo frames hanging on the wall which were all oil paintings. Wei Yang can’t recognize them. Anyway, they seemed strange in shape and terrible in style.
Every time Wei Yang entered the office of the two professors, she can’t help but stare at those frames and feel in her heart that the hobby of the twins seemed so dark.
“Ask.” Federline sat behind his desk, then opened the students’ homework and did his evaluation.
“But I want an orange juice.” Wei Yang whispered. How could this man always forget it? Every time she came, she must have a gla.s.s of orange juice. Professor Crowe’s orange juice was really good.
“You should know where you are right now.” Federline’s movements were stiff. He gave a silent rebuke without lifting his head.
Wei Yang pouted her lips, pretending to be grieving to her finger, “I recently hurt my foot…” After a pause, she whispered again, “Federline never remembers… Unlike Harris!”
Federline gave Wei Yang a sidelong look as if he’s saying, “Don’t think I can’t hear you! I can hear you even when your voice is low!”
Despite the unpleasant stare, Federline still got up and poured a gla.s.s of orange juice for Wei Yang. While he was preparing food for her, he had a habit of spitting everywhere whenever he wanted to. Oh, that habit’s really a terrible thing!
“Quickly! Drink!” He said to her and continued, “What kind of student asks a professor and drinks a gla.s.s of juice in his office?” Even though he was a terror, his heart was still good. Then, he returned on doing his homework evaluation.
“Do you have fried eggs?” Wei Yang asked after taking a sip of orange juice.
“…” Federline’s pen clicked and got smashed. He looked up and said, “There’s Harris’ door next to mine. Go by yourself!”
“Well, then. I don’t want it. I don’t want to disturb Professor Harris today.” Wei Yang didn’t even want to eat fried eggs. She just said it out of nowhere. Then she added, “But Professor, your hand is so strong! How can you crush a pen just by one click!”
“Mind your juice!” Federline calmly threw the pen into the garbage can, rubbed his right hand with a handkerchief, and then the red ink. He changed the pen and continued to evaluate the homework. “So, tell me about your question.” He just wanted to solve all her problems, hoping that she won’t disturb his rest time on afternoons again!
Of course, don’t bother Harris, because it doesn’t make any difference!
Wei Yang puckered her mouth and slowly drank her orange juice. It tasted a bit sour as she licked her teeth. She skillfully bent down and took out a box of chocolates from under the coffee table. She took a piece of ‘bar choke’ and took a bite on it.
Federline checked on her rude eating att.i.tude, sneered, and continued to bow his head.
After three questions were asked, Federline answered them precisely and quickly. When the ‘trouble’ was finally out, he closed the door vigorously and breathed a sigh of relief.
“Knock, knock, knock–”
“What’s the matter?” Federline felt like he’s going to be mad at the girl. How could she be so annoying? What’s wrong with her?
“Does Professor think I’m the best student in your cla.s.s?” Wei Yang blinked while asking.
“Yes, yes, yes!” Federline rolled his eyes then said, “Still the most scoundrel!” After that, he shut the door with a loud bang and resolutely ignored the muttering of the troublemaker outside.
“Hey! You can’t repent at the end of the school year!” Wei Yang pulled out the tape recorder from her trousers pocket and laughed very fraudulently.
Then, only Harris was left as her goal. But she can’t rush the professor at once. She’ll go to see him again tomorrow.
She then looked at Harris’s office door and left jumping happily.
