Black Hunter - chapter 14
“Did you see a lot of beads in your group before?”
Park Minji touched the floor with her soles and looked sad.
“I didn’t get any, but I saw a lot.”
“Do you know what the beads give you?”
“The blue marbles give strength, the red marbles are for stamina, the purple marbles are for agility, and the white marbles enhance the senses.”
I stared at Kim Byeong-woo.
“Kim Byeong-woo, you must know that much. But you didn’t know what power a yellow ball with black stripes could bring. When I ate it, and it was painful, you wondered what abilities you’d see. That’s why you put me by your side, and now you figured it out and tossed me out.”
I protested violently.
“You can’t just use people and throw them away!”
“You are dead.”
Dead? Am I a ghost? What are you talking about?
I couldn’t respond to his unexpected words. Park Min-Ji was angry instead.
“You can’t speak so harshly just because you are a strong person.”
“He would have died without me.”
He was not wrong. I would have been dead if he hadn’t dealt with the hyenas and wolves rushing towards me. But I didn’t appreciate it. He wasn’t fighting to save my life, but he was fighting because of greed for beads.
“Good. Let’s go. I don’t want to live in the same house as you. But I need to know what my abilities are. What did you find out?”
“Why should I give you the information?”
Kim Byeong-woo said with contempt.
“Go away.”
He went inside and came out again.
“If you knock on the door once more, I will kill you as soon as the tutorial period ends.”
I dare not knock on the door.
“What a bad guy.”
Park Min-Ji spat at the door. I walked away.
“Let’s go.”
—
We went into an empty house that was small and shabby and was not chosen by the people. There was nothing to do, so we played in bed. No, I wouldn’t have done it if I had a lot to do.
“That bead.”
“Black-striped yellow beads?”
“Yes, that. I just thought that it would be good if it could be an energizing ball.”
Park Minji poked my nose with her fingers.
“Hey, what we need is power, not energy.”
“Energy is also power.”
I was joking about it, and I heard the screams of Seo Su-myeong.
“It’s an attack!”
We quickly dressed and packed our weapons. Then he cried out the door.
“Show me more beads!”
The momentum went well, but it softened immediately.
“Ogres!”
There weren’t many attackers. There were only five. Compared to the number of hyenas, wolves, and goblins, we handle, this was only a few. But by the moment we left the house, it had already torn five people.
There would have been more dead if they had not lost their mind in eating the torn bodies.
Wicked.
Kim Byung-woo flew gracefully like a bird and put a knife in the neck of the ogre.
“Ki-aah!”
The ogre tried to catch Kim Byung-woo with a knife still bounded in its neck.
I clicked my tongue.
“There is knife stuck in its neck, but it is not even faltering.”
“Yeah.”
We didn’t dare to aggro the ogre. However, some people were motivated.
Kang Dong-taek shouted.
“Take them one by one!”
Dong-taek, the beehive, the young men, and the senior citizens all aimed for one.
Park Min-Ji smiled sadly as he watched the people move in unison and surround the ogre.
“If we take that, we will get a very good marble, but we can’t catch it because there’s only two of us.”
“The same is true over there. You will have to risk your life and lead fast.”
Kim Byung-woo deeply cut the ogre’s ankle to reveal its bare bones. The ogre screamed and chased Kim Byung-woo, but could not keep up with his speed. Kim Byung-woo came forward and pulled his wrist.
The ogre’s hand fell off its forearm.
The ogre was tenacious. His hand fell off, but he continued to jump without stepping back.
When the ogre tried to smash his head, Kim Byung-woo dropped on the ground, jumped on its fist, then kicked the ogre’s head. In the meantime, I grabbed the knife I had with both hands and pushed it into the ogre.
Arhh-
The ogre fell after shrieking loudly.
Kim Byung-Woo pulled out the knife stuck in the ogre’s neck and cut it open with it. Five marbles came out. When I saw the blue, red, purple, and colorful beads, I wanted to taste it.
“It’s amazing.”
Kim Byeongwoo kept the beads without eating them.
The other side took a long time to kill the ogre. As they rotated, they continued to attack the ogre and gradually gained the advantage. As the number of wounds accumulated, the ogre could no longer stand.
Dong-taek was the fastest, followed by the beehives, the young men, then the senior citizens. The order in which they killed the ogre was indicative of the order of power of those four groups.
How many beads were obtained by those groups? I was curious and moved forward to study. They were three, Dong-taek, beehives, and companies, but only one of them had no luck.
Kim Byung-woo was watching them like me.
As he approached, Kang Yoo-sik was nervous and hid the marbles. The white beard trembled.
“What, what, what?”
Kim Byung-woo reached out an empty hand and announced that there was no hostility.
“Would you like to exchange the beads with me?”
Kim Byeong-woo gave out five beads. I saw it and opened my eyes. What Kang Yu-sik had was black marble. Park Min-Ji ate it, but it had no effect.
Park Min-Ji held my hand tightly. I also clasped her hand back.
“Kim Byeong-woo gave out five.”
“The black beads are precious.”
Kang Yoo-sik also thought so.
I watched as he swallowed the black beads. This is a mistake made by Kim Byung-woo. If I give out five of them, I have no choice but to look at what I have. So I should have just asked to exchange one by one. Also, I had to conceal my desire for black marbles by making a proposal together with the young men and the beehive.
He’s not a negotiator type. Kim Byeong-woo was straight to the point.
I felt better for some reason.
Kim Byung-woo frowned for a moment, then shrugged and retreated. The backlash came from elsewhere.
“What do we do if you eat what we caught together?”
The older man, who seemed to be ten years older than Kang Yoo-sik, wielded his staff and shouted. It looked like he was yelling at a women on the subway.
Kang Yoo-sik stood with his legs crossed and said quietly.
“If they have a confrontation, leave quickly.”
The wand that stabbed in the air went down gently.
I was shocked by Kang Yu-sik’s duality.
Kang Dong-taek gave Kim Byung-woo a white marble.
“Trade with me. Take this and give me the blue beads and the red beads.”
Kim Byeong-woo went home without saying anything. I laughed inside.
Because of Kim Byeong-Woo, Kang Dong-taek puffed up several times.
The anger may have been redirected to me, so I quietly left the room. My house was close to Kim Byung-woo’s. As I walked home along with Han Soo-jin, Choi Hye-Ri, who was considered the second most beautiful girl in the summoning area, approached Kim Byung-woo. She whispered in his ear.
“Excuse me, Byeong-woo.”
Instead of answering, Kim Byung-woo raised his eyes.
“Would you like to hang with us?”
“… … .”
“I’m scared, so I can’t sleep at night, but I think I’ll sleep well if I’m by your side.”
She spoke with the blood splattered on the hem of her shirt.
“It’s the blood of a person next to me. He was hit by an ogre, and his heart was crushed.”
Then, Kim Byung-woo’s back was tied up with his index finger.
“I want to be strong. Can I borrow some beads?”
Kim Byung-woo replied.
“Get off.”
My heart ached because I saw a beautiful face turned sour. But it looks different from other people’s eyes. I didn’t even know he was nearby, but Han Kyun jumped out and raised his thumb.
“Wow, I’m sick.”
Then Kim Byung-woo stared at him; then, he cried like a turtle. When Kim Byung-woo entered the house without dealing with them, Han Do-gyun stabbed my side.
“That boy is really cool. Right?”
“What is cool?”
“A pretty woman like a celebrity offered herself.”
Han Do-Gyun put his hands on his waist and performed a vocalization of Kim Byung-Woo.
“Get off.”
I shot it cold.
“Shut up.”
Han Do-Gyun did not shut up.
“It’s really cool. Right?”
“It’s not cool. It’s rude. He doesn’t have common sense, that was cheap. You can’t insult people that way.”
Choi Hye-ri had red ears. She trembled and shook her head, and then left.
“You could have refused with good words.”
Han Do-Gyun looked at me and flickered.
“Hey, Kim Byeong-woo can get a woman a thousand times more beautiful than her, so she’s questioning herself after getting embarrassed and hurt.”
I took out the dagger and put it under Han Jyun’s chin. Han Do-Gyun’s eyes were wide.
“Uh, uh, uh.”
He opened his mouth like an idiot and smirked only one word.
“If you open your mouth once again, I will stab you. Do you understand?”
Han Do-Gyun nodded and after receiving a small cut from the tip of the dagger.
“Okay.”
I took away the dagger. Immediately, Han Do-Gyun grabbed the hilt from his side. I put my foot on his heel and pushed my chest before he pulled the knife. When Han Do-Gyun fell down, I stepped on his chest.
“I am watching you a lot because you are a minor.”
“Don’t be bored. It’s not fun to come out like this to me.”
I kicked him sideways and then retreated. I grabbed his side and left the grunting Han-Gyun, and went home with Park Min-Ji.
Kyun Han came along and knocked on the door. I picked up the ax and opened the door.
“Let’s stick together?”
Do Kyun Han was surprised and struck his hand.
“No.”
“Then, why are you here?”
“I was wondering if I could move to this house.”
He pulled his head and looked over my shoulder and spoke.
“Are you kicked out?”
“Do you know what my nickname is?”
“Come on, how would I know your nickname? Oh, wait. I will guess.”
Han Do-Kyun raised his hand and spoke.
“Loser. No? Then bully. Isn’t it? Bread shuttle? Jerk?”
Wouldn’t it be nice to chop this baby’s head off with an ax? I was seriously troubled. Han Do Kyun stepped back two steps when he felt the unpleasant atmosphere.
“What’s your nickname?”
“I decided not to talk to you, personally.”
Do-Gyun Han scratched his head.
“But tell me why you were kicked out. Please.”
“I wasn’t kicked out. I came on my own.”
“Why?”
“The building here. It must have been built like a Korean apartment. The walls are so thin that I can hear the sound of the next room.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You have a girlfriend. I’ve never had one!”
