Blake Stone - Volume 1 Chapter 15 Takeout
Ivory sucked at the game. In the PvP arena, he beat her ten times out of ten with his health bar showing ‘100.00%’
In the Quest mode, he found that with the total gaming time exceeding hundreds of hours, she still had not beaten the boss of the tenth level. She thought beating the previous nine was an achievement but a part of her crumbled when he told her that the first nine levels were the part of the tutorial…
Dagger woke up late in the afternoon. He was really fresh and in a good mood and seemingly had a very good dream.
In the dream….
Never mind, he forgot already.
…
He woke up to find his breakfast and lunch, both on the table in front of him. His stomach growled, he had not eaten for a while. The food was already cold but he ate it nevertheless. Even when the microwave was ten steps away.
With his stomach satisfied, he stood up to use the toilet. He turned towards the nearest toilet’s direction but did not take a step. He first scanned the surroundings cautiously. Looking down at his feet, he saw the laces tangled up together. He reached down to untie and retie them. After that, he slowly crept towards the toilet, looking for any possible traps set up for him.
Blake had found the always online Sproule and had partied up with him. The both of them played by themselves, Ivory played the role of being the baggage but to these two grandmasters of the game, they could carry tens of Ivories and conquer the hundred player dungeons with the two of them alone. But that was too much time consuming as it would take weeks so they were only visiting the five player ones. Just when they were about to beat the final boss of a dungeon, the screen suddenly exited the game and switched to show a live video recording. He shot Ivory a questioning gaze.
“Ooh! Father woke up! I set the cameras to start sending the signals the moment he makes any major movements”, she explained, she felt nothing after getting forcefully disconnected just when the final boss was breathing its last.
The cameras were very stable showed clear images even when Dagger was walking. When he was in the toilet, Ivory switched to the camera which was pointed at Dagger’s face from the left shoulder. He really did not notice the mirrors missing or overturned.
Blake was getting bored so he split the screen so that a quarter would show Dagger while the rest would play SBz.
Just after getting out of the toilet, a call came in, asking Dagger to come for an urgent meeting held by the higher ups. All those big shots involved in last night’s incident were to attend the meeting.
Soon, Dagger could be seen walking out of the house with his moonless night sky…
Ivory focused on the faces of everyone who saw Dagger. Some showed awkward expressions while many tried to hold in their laughter but none dared to be the one to tell him.
The following night. Dagger came back with his face red and eyes aflame. Ivory was waiting by the door laughing madly.
“Ivory!!!” Dagger roared but this made her laugh even more. Blake flashed a smile from far away. Taking out a bottle of wine from the fridge, he threw it towards Dagger.
Catching the bottle, he took a giant gulp and sighed. “Let’s not talk about it anymore… You got me good but still not comparable to what I did last time! Hahaha”
These words hit one of Ivory’s sore spots, her laughter ceased immediately. The atmosphere suddenly turned deathly cold.
“Ahahaha! What’s for food?” Dagger did not dare speak any further on the topic.
“Nothing!” Eir turned around and strode towards the kitchen.
“W-what do you mean?” Dagger ran after her, stunned.
“I’m used to making food for two. We can NOT let the guest go without food and since I was the one who made it, the other portion rightfully goes to me!”
“But I see three portions on the table…” Dagger pointed out.
“Three? Where?” Ivory asked in a confused manner as her hands swiftly reached out to grab one of the plates to get rid of it but Dagger was quick-witted and grabbed one of the two remaining plates.
…
The ‘quarrel’ continued for a while. Blake saw Sproule calling for a match so he accepted the challenge.
Dinner time.
The father and daughter finally stopped with their ‘little games’.
Blake arrived at the table to see the food from earlier was missing.
“It’s takeout…”, Ivory was embarrassed as she came from the kitchen carrying bowls of hot soup.
Blake did not dare ask what happened to the food which she had prepared earlier in fear of igniting those unnecessary sparks again.
“So… What do you plan to do?”, Dagger initiated the conversation as he asked Blake what did he want to do next.
“Hm?”, Blake raised his head from the bowl to look at Dagger.
“I mean, your parents left you behind and escaped to who knows where. And I’m sure you have no other close relatives, none that I know of. I was with that old fart when his family was being slaughtered… Cough, cough! And your Mother was a very mysterious woman, nobody knows her past except Brom, that rotten birdpoop”, Dagger did not feel odd at all when he bad mouthed the man in front of his son.
“Academy”, Blake replied with a single word.
“You are so unlike your father! Why come you talk so less?” Dagger asked.
Blake shrugged.
“The academy, huh? Not a bad choice. The entrance examinations are just around the corner, too”, Dagger nodded in approval. “Have you started cultivating yet?”
Blake nodded and lit a little black flame on his index finger.
“Dark flame? That’s something new. Well, Brom also had those super rare blue flames he was so proud of so I think it’s something in the blood”, Dagger was intrigued but since he was not a cultivator specializing in fire type spells or skills, he was not too concerned about it.
“Dad was hiding from you?” Blake’s first sentence of the day.
“Haha! You saw how afraid he was of me, right? All he was thinking of was about running!” Dagger laughed out loud.
“Eh, father, why is your upper body covered in bandages?” Ivory asked when she noticed the white bandages under his shirt when he arched his back while laughing.
“These are the proof that Dad was afraid of him”, Blake did not hold back his words this time.
Dagger almost choked on his own saliva.
