Bleeding Heart - 111 Pay Attention To Me!
Vixen was rather glad that Tira had not said anything about the fact that she had caught Vixen kissing Lowks. It was awkward enough that Tira had caught them without her mentioning it again.
Vixen was not so happy though that Lowks had not mentioned it to her. He seemed utterly unperturbed by what they had shared last night. She was not sure what to think.
He had kissed her back. So, he must have liked it as well, right? But it felt like nothing had changed. Except maybe that he had not said anything sharp to her this morning. But that might just be that she was behaving, so that hardly meant anything.
Maybe he needed a bit of time to sort it out. He was probably trying to figure it out himself, it was probably complicated to him. He had been thinking of her as a child… she hoped he was not weirded out by the fact that they had kissed.
She let out a sigh and kicked at the dirt. Then she heard Lowks’s voice behind her, “Are you going to mount your horse? We are setting out…”
She nearly jumped, but managed to catch herself. Instead she turned her head to him and gave him a huge smile, “Of course! Just a minute.”
She quickly mounted, and followed out. It was nice being able to ride. Before when they had been scouting out the area they had to go by foot. As much as she was okay with that it was also nice to get to rest her calves.
She quickly caught up to Lowks, noticing as she did so that he seemed to be purposefully going slowly in order to let her.
He gave her the barest hint of a smile before turning away from her. She tried to look away as well, but found herself sneaking peeks at him, wanting to know what he was thinking.
He caught her looking at him, and then raised a brow at her, “Yes, Vix?”
“Nothing.” She shrugged and then glanced at him again, “Well, um, about last night…”
A flush came to his cheeks and he glanced away. But he spoke quietly, “What about it?”
“You weren’t weirded out that I kissed you, were you?” She hoped he did not say yes.
“Nah.” He laughed, “I am courting you, right? So, I can handle you kissing me. So long as you are doing it seriously and not just messing around.” He frowned and then continued, “I mean it’s okay to be playful, but I was meaning more that if you are going to kiss me you had better be serious about being in a relationship.”
She laughed, feeling a flush come to her cheeks. “I…Lowks, I don’t think I could play you if I tried.” She laughed, feeling slightly flustered.
He stared at her, then sighed, “I am going to just assume that was an agreement that you are serious. That’s good.” A boyish grin came to his face as he said in a tone filled with satisfaction. “I was hoping you were.”
“You were?” Her heart seemed to leap up a little. She hoped that the implication in that sentence was actually there. And that she was not just searching too hard.
His slightly flushed ears were an interesting sight. Vixen felt pleased. And decided that it was okay if he was not really being too direct since he seemed affected at least a little. She smiled to herself happily.
Then he spoke softly, “I was. I don’t like the idea of being played around with.”
She nodded, “I won’t play with your feelings if you give your heart to me.” She winked at him, hoping to make him laugh. Instead his lips curved upwards and then he shook his head at her. But she caught a hint of affection in his eyes.
He fell quiet and was not looking at her anymore. She frowned. She wanted him to pay attention to her. But she waited for a few minutes before trying to talk to him again, “What are you thinking about?”
He startled, looking at her in surprise, “Something important.”
“Oh? What?”
“Not telling you. But it’s very important.” He grinned at her.
He was teasing her! She frowned at him. But she could not actually feel all that upset about it. If he was teasing her than he was paying attention to her. And that was good.
