Bleeding Heart - 127 A Little Soon?
Lowks was not too surprised that Vixen had agreed to marry him, but he still felt relieved. He might have been fairly confident but there was always that undercurrent of worry that he might be trying too fast.
But she had agreed. His Vixen was going to marry him. Finally. After all those years of struggling with these feelings for her he had finally asked her to marry him.
“Hey…Lowks?” The sound of his beloved’s voice got him to turn to look at her. She was leaning into him, while clasping his hand in hers. There was a playful look on her face, “So… since we were children? How old of children?”
He leaned towards her and kissed her. Vixen was caught by surprise and for a moment did not respond. But then she put her free hand on the back of his head and pressed even closer to him.
Lowks was a bit flushed when he pulled away, but he did not care. His heart was beating fast, but his heart was so light and easy at the moment. He was incredibly happy, as he lightly stroked Vixen’s hair.
He pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead and then sighed, “You were thirteen when I decided that I wanted to marry you once you were grown up.”
Vixen blinked and looked taken aback, then she pouted at him, “Why did you never say a word?”
“You were still a child. Of course I waited till you were grown up and then you were so uninterested in me, as you know – a man, that I just couldn’t…” It didn’t matter anymore – she was his now. And she had even told him she loved him!
For some reason, she wasn’t looking at him anymore. Her smile had frozen a little and she had averted her eyes, “Vix, is something wrong?”
“I’m sorry…” She suddenly mumbled an apology. As he looked at her in confusion, she explained, “I hurt you, didn’t I? I’m sorry. You’ve always meant a lot to me, and I never wanted to hurt you…”
“Don’t worry about it, sweetheart.” Her eyes widened, and he pecked her lips. “You’re mine now, and I have no intention to ever let you go. Now that you’ve accepted me, you’ll just have to live with it.”
She giggled at his lightly spoken, almost joking, words. Even though he was saying it as a joke, he really did have no intention to ever let go of her hand. But it was more of a promise – he did not mean to ever give her a reason to want to leave him.
“Lowks… I really do love you.” There was an almost hopeless look on her face, but she still looked incredibly happy. “I’m glad you feel the same…”
They stayed together for a while more, enjoying each other’s company. Eventually, Lowks stood up and offered her his hand. “We should go back.”
She took his hand and let him pull her up. She stepped lightly beside of him, and he could not help but sneak looks at her. Suddenly, she glanced at him, and asked sweetly, “So… how soon till our wedding?”
“I… when do you want?”
“As soon as possible! I really am looking forward to being called your wife.”
Her sweet words sent his heart racing, and he glanced down, thinking about her question, “I can be ready in two weeks. So anytime after that is good.”
“Two weeks it is then.” She sounded happy as she decided that they would marry as soon as possible. He laughed and shook his head at her, though it did make him happy.
When they told his parents though, they said that was a bit too quick, and told them to at least wait a month. Vixen accepted it, albeit reluctantly.
