Bleeding Heart - 133 Through Whatever Comes
Despite not sleeping a wink the night before, Lowks felt wide awake. His nerves made him feel a bit restless, but still he was glad that today had finally arrived. Just thinking about how he would soon be able to call Vixen his wife made all this excitement worth it.
He didn’t even really mind that there was a whole lot of people. Or the fact that he had to stand in front of them while waiting on his bride. Admittedly he was just a little bit impatient for her to arrive, but that was more just that he wanted to see her than because of any discomfort he had around lots of people.
When his bride did arrive, he felt like he couldn’t take his eyes off of her. She looked utterly beautiful right then, dressed up in the finery of a bride. A stinging sensation in his eyes caused him to blink. He did not want to cry and ruin this moment.
Vixen walked up to him, eyes sparkling girlishly. The way she looked at him made his heart beat even faster than it already had been. There was no mischief in her eyes at the moment, just pure love and excitement.
He took her hands in his and smiled at her. He wanted to tell her that she looked absolutely stunning but couldn’t at the moment. He decided to tell her later.
When he was given the nod that he could start he felt relieved and turned himself fully towards her. He raised her hand up and pressed it to his heart, clasping her fingers tightly, “Of all the woman in the world I have chosen you to be by my side, in the good times and in the bad.” He released her hand to pull out the red ribbon and tie it around his own wrist, “With this binding ribbon I promise that I will prove ever faithful to you, that I will stick by you through whatever comes, and will always be there when you need me.”
Vixen smiled sweetly at him as she took the other end and tied herself to him, “And in return I promise you my own faithfulness, my love, and courage to face the future with you. Though the road may be rough and times be dark I will stick through till the sun shines again on us.”
They briefly exchanged rings, and Lowks caught her to him in a kiss to seal their union. His bride threw her arms around his neck, nearly toppling him over in her exuberance.
Then came the well-wishes and congratulations. Usually Lowks would have felt uncomfortable having so many people come up to him and start congratulating him, but it was his wedding and somehow that made it far more okay with him. Maybe he was just so ecstatic about Vixen that he couldn’t feel uncomfortable. So, he accepted it and even smiled widely throughout.
He was more than a bit surprised to see Kur there. But when he expressed his surprise, Kur just said he loved weddings and would never miss one if he could help it. Lowks dropped it at that. He had never realized Kur was a bit of a romantic before.
After about an hour of this, Lowks’s sleepless night caught up to him and he started feeling exhausted. Vixen noticed and had him sit down. He felt thankful for her consideration. Though it did startle him when his bride sat on his lap. That actually worked to wake him up more.
With a helpless smile, he wrapped his arms around her waist and plopped his chin on her shoulder. He had always rather wanted to hold her like this and now he could. How simply wonderful.
