Blessed Transmigration - Chapter 9 Mai
The now opened door revealed a young woman, whose beauty could only be described as on the same level as Anne’s. She had long white hair, healthy white skin and a beautiful figure wearing a red-black kimono neither too revealing nor too prudish. Her figure was slender with curves in all the right places. Though she loses a bit in front of Anne’s well-endowed body, but not too much. The red blindfold she was wearing didn’t hide the beauty of her face. Aside from that it was her sword that fell into everyone’s sight. No doubt it was an exceptional piece of art, sure to be crafted of a master blacksmith.
The other customers cursed inside their mind, knowing a beauty like her could cause trouble wherever she goes.
The person in question scanned the room in a calm manner as if searching for something. After a moment she turned into the direction of a man with a handsome appearance at the end of the room.
Ryan feeling as if observed turned his head and his gaze met with a beauty he only ever has seen when looking at Anne. When looking at her he began to feel calm and a little excited as well, not knowing the reason himself. He got a feeling of familiarity like he feels with Anne, even though on a weaker scale. They locked onto each other as if in a daze.
Anne on the other hand had a slight familiar feeling herself and felt Ryan’s emotions to a certain extent through their connection. But somehow she felt a little uneasy as well.
Time passed. Seconds went by, until they didn’t move about a minute and someone dropped his fork waking the three of them and startling the other silent customers.
The mysterious swords-woman had a slight smile on her face and muttered “Finally” before moving towards their table.
It seems nobody aside from Anne heard her, causing no change in their expressions. Anne on the other hand raised her wariness onto another level and looked at her suspiciously.
Ryan felt her nervousness and placed his hand onto her lap successfully calming her, before moving his gaze back onto the incoming person.
She arrived at the table and a melodious voice rang out. “Excuse me, do you mind if I join you?”
Ryan didn’t mind as his interest was picked as well as he stood up, pulled the chair for her and gestured for her to sit down. “Please.”
She was a little surprised at his actions as she sat down. To be honest Ryan was surprised himself how smooth he became. ‘No wonder they are falling for me.’
Anne noticed the dumb expression on his face and rolled her eyes, as he sat back down and planted his hand back onto Anne’s lap.
Ryan swept the room in search of the waiter-boy while unconsciously dispersing the gazes of the remaining people. Being looked at, the boy immediately understood and came to the table.
“Please bring another glass and set of cutlery.” Ryan said to him in a friendly manner.
“Certainly sir.” They boy just gave a short reply before leaving again.
Now having the two peoples focus falling onto her the mysterious young woman took a short breath before she began speaking. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, my name is Mai.”
Ryan nodded his head slightly, appreciating the fitting name. “Nice to meet you Mai. My name is Ryan and this is”
Before he could answer Anne cut in while gripping Ryan’s hand. “I am Anne.”
Mai smiled slightly while bowing her head into her direction before directing her attention onto Ryan again who continued.
“Ahem right, as for us, we just formed a new pirate crew by the name ‘Blood Gang’. You probably already know about our bounties.”
The marines inside perked up and tried to spy on their conversation. This didn’t go unnoticed, but Ryan didn’t mind as they would get to know about it sooner or later anyway.
Mai hesitated for a moment, but didn’t want to conceal the truth and answered truthfully. “That’s right, I heard about it at one of the last islands I was at. After hearing about you my interest was piqued as I had a suspicion. So I tried to find you to confirm my guess and searched the islands after Loguetown, finally being successful here in Silver City.”
“You were searching me? What for exactly?” Ryan raised his guard a little. He knew she recognized him, but he didn’t expect her to search different islands for him.
‘It can’t be, a stalker?’
Oblivious to his thoughts she continued earnestly. “You felt it as well earlier didn’t you?”
He nodded with a confused expression waiting for her to continue. She took the hint, but leaned in closer to both Ryan and Anne.
They both concentrated on Mai as she was going on with a hushed voice.
“What you felt earlier was a resonance in our bloodline. Though mine isn’t as pure as yours, it caused us a familiar feeling towards each other,”
Her words left Ryan and Anne dumbfounded for a short moment until she continued with still lowered voice. “That’s right all three of us are vampires, though I am quite sure I should be one of the last ones left. In truth, I could be considered half human half vampire or a slightly weaker vampire. For generations our bloodline got diluted, and we aren’t that far from normal humans. Especially compared with you.”
“But is there a reason you needed to search for me then?” Ryan asked a bit confused.
“That’s right. To be honest I am in need for strong allies and I guess you are still searching for strong and loyal crew members. That’s why I decided to try my luck and ask for your permission to join you. As for why I need strong allies, I am sorry, but I can’t tell you without knowing your answer first.”
“Hmm” Ryan began contemplating for a moment. Sure he would want to help a young woman like her, especially one who was beautiful like her. But the request came out of the blue, and he was caught off guard.
‘What am I even hesitating for. I came here in search for new crew members and now a beautiful vampire maiden delivered herself in front of me. There’s nothing to be afraid of. After all I will become one of the strongest in some years.’
Ending his inner monologue he was about to answer, as Mai beat him to it. “Aside from that my mother told me about the old customs of our race and I would be fine with it.”
Her statement got quieter the closer it came to its end, but both Ryan and Anne managed to hear everything. Mai just lowered her head as a slight blush crept up her face leaving nothing of her cool atmosphere from her entrance.
Anne just sighed inwardly. ‘I already knew I wouldn’t be the only one in the future, but isn’t that a bit too fast? I shouldn’t get careless and pick up my game.’
Ryan was dumbfounded and didn’t notice Anne’s expression as if steeling herself for a competition. Mai’s mouth curved into a anxious expression which Ryan noticed as he made his decision.
“Fine Mai, let a more detailed talk about our past and other details wait until we set sail again. Here are too much prying ears. I will accept you into the crew” pausing for a moment he continued “and I will be in your care.” He placed his hand on top of hers, causing her to give a brighter smile than before.
“I will be in your care as well.”
The waiter-boy, who just came nearly tripped with all the dishes and wine he was carrying.
‘What the heck. Please teach me.’ His eyes began to shine as if he found his idol.
