Blind Dragon - Chapter 1
A young man with closed eyes turned his head toward the fading footsteps as he spoke softly.
There was a cut on his cheek with blood oozing out.
“Yongliang will no longer bother you, mother, father. Mei’er, big brother is sorry…”
The young man swiped the blood off his cheek with his sleeve. He touched the blood on his sleeve with a finger before smearing the same sleeve to clean the blood.
Although it was easily seen and would stain his robe, he didn’t mind and took off the cloth sack secured on his shoulder. He opened it and rummaged through the items. Feeling a bottle cold to the touch, he took it out and opened it.
He poured the contents, a white cream, and applied it to his cheek. The wound healed at at fast rate but a faint line was still visible.
Of course the young man didn’t know, even if he wanted to know, it was impossible.
He tapped his feet, listening for any vibrations from the experience he gained from living in darkness.
He smiled gently and opened his grey eyes which had no focus.
“This unfilial son is sorry for troubling you.” He whispered to wind as he started walking.
He touched his face and wondered how he looked like, how his parents looked like and how his little sister looked like.
He dreamed of colours.
He wanted to know what blue, black, green, red, pink looked like. He wanted to know what everything looked like, what the world looked.
The only thing he didn’t want to look at was black, plain darkness.
He thought of the world he was now treading on but then he paused.
He could hear hurried footsteps of others and ran to something nearby to hide behind.
His sister frequently traced pictures of things on his hands or back so he was able to recognise a shape of a tree.
“Hurry! We have to capture the demon!” A shout sounded followed by grunts of agreements.
The young man didn’t know what was happening but he knew it was a bad idea to go their direction to he quietly went around them.
Not knowing where he was, he was in an unknown place after a long period of walking. He didn’t know how many days or night had passed. All he could see was darkness.
He avoided the loudest places and went off to a direction where there was no one.
He felt the earth against his bare feet and the fresh wind glide past his face and cracked a smile.
“I wonder what it looks like, it must be magnificent.” The young man smiled with a hint of pain but then he smiled brightly.
“I shouldn’t covet what I don’t have. The Heavens must have made me blind for a reason.” He comforted himself as he sat down.
Unknown to him, he ventured into a forbidden land wracked with natural disasters and danger.
He touched the sack and removed it from his shoulder.
Opening it, he put his hand in and searched for a bottle full with a bump to fill up his stomach a little bit. Every bottle had a different amount of bumps so he would know what was inside.
“If only I… No, what am I doing, I am Bo Yongliang, son of Bo Xie and Kan Yanzhu.” Bo Yongliang said to himself when he realised his thoughts.
Bo Yongliang rubbed his eyes before standing up and patted his clothes.
He tapped the ground again a few times before pondering for a while.
‘I’ll guess I go that way.’ He thought as he moved a strand of hair away from his lips.
“I need to cut my hair…” Bo Yongliang said to himself as he grabbed his hair and lifted it up feeling how long it was. Remembering something, he rummaged his bad and took out a slim wooden box.
He opened it and knife with a sharp blade was inside. He traced the box before picking up the knife. He sat down and placed the box on his knee and cut his hair to a reasonable length before placing it back. His hand held a bundle of cut hair and the other hand put the box back into the bag.
“What do I do with this?…” He muttered feeling his hair and decided to throw it up in the air to travel in the wind.
Unknown to him, someone or something was watching his every move.
“He has excellent senses and potential. It’s a pity that he’s still blind…” A aged voice sounded with a bit of curiosity.
“Bo Yongliang…” The owner of the voice said his name a few times before revealing a smile of approval.
“Forever bright waves, huh… To reach this age with no cultivation… The Heavens are on my side! Judging from his appearance he seems to be eighteen. He hasn’t even awakened his innate eyes yet! To take eighteen years, the longest I’ve ever known is five years!” The owner mumbled to itself while revealing excitement and happiness.
Bo Yongliang stopped while lifting his up. He had a bad feeling and grit his teeth.
“To think I was so careless! Who knows where I am, it must be that dangerous lightning Mei’er was talking about.” Bo Yongliang muttered and cursed himself.
“Now what do I do? Who knows whether it’ll land on me…” He muttered as he tightened his grip on the strap of the sack on his shoulder.
He heard loud rumbles and prayed that it wouldn’t strike him.
“Boom!”
“Guh!”
Bo Yongliang swallowed the mouthful of blood as his conscious faded and landed onto the floor with a thud.
Blood poured out of his eyes, ears, nose, mouth and nails, dying his face red. Numerous cuts appeared on his body and more blood poured out like broken dam.
His body sparked with white lightning from time to time before his body glowed bright white and his wounds healed at a miraculous rate.
Just when his wounds were fully healed, another lightning strike struck him and the same process repeated for countless cycles until it reached the 100th strike.
Every strike was 1.5 times more powerful than before so Bo Yongliang was already naked, almost buried in the ground.
“To think his lightning affinity was that monstrous.” The voice from earlier sounded when the last one struck.
“But his other elemental affinity are on par.” He finished before the ground cracked and boulders came from nowhere, smashing into Bo Yongliang’s body.
Jin Bo’s body appeared on the surface as the earth beneath him willed it.
After another 100 cycles, it stopped another of a different element appeared.
“Next is metal.”
Countless swords pierced into the air from all directions and slashed at Bo Yongliang before vanishing.
Like before it stopped until the hundredth time.
“Now it’s water.”
The air became misty and then one hundred beams of water of a high pressure assaulted Bo Yongliang.
“The baptism of the Heavens… He’s so lucky.” The voice had traces of astonishment.
Soon it was fire. A big column of fire enveloped him as he was burnt. After the pillar of fire disappeared, his skin healed at a visible rate and it repeated one hundred times.
“Finally, wood.” Just when then words finished. Roots dug out of the ground, full of life. They merged into a sharp stick and stabbed into Bo Yongliang body.
Every time his body was baptised, he would gain numerous improvements and new things as well as acceptance of the Heavens.
Altogether the baptism of the six elements took six months, one month each.
Bo Yongliang woke up at the end of the sixth cycle for a mysterious reason. The remaining pain still tortured him and he grit his teeth so hard that blood poured from his gums.
Soon, two streaks of tears mixed with blood went down his face.
Blood coated his tasted buds as his jaw became sore. He felt his teeth become slightly loose from how hard he grit his teeth.
“Ah!”
He screamed in pain when couldn’t grit his teeth anymore.
He breathed heavily as he spat out the blood in his mouth while moving his hand to grab something on the ground.
He could feel rugged rocks as held them as tight as he could. Holding in his pain.
After a few hours of pain, Bo Yongliang tried to lift himself up with trembling hands and fell once he stood up.
Bo Yongliang pried open his eyes but he saw the familiar darkness.
He thought maybe the lightning changed something in his body, maybe he could see.
“Why?… Why did the Heaven’s make me blind?! Why do you not let me see my greatest joy?! Why?! Just give me sight, that’s all I ask for. I want to see Mei’er. I want to see mother and father!” Bo Yongliang cried. He just wanted to see.
“Why?…” He said softly before fatigue hit him and fell.
“The Heavens always have a reason. Guess I should bring him with me.”
A black silhouette appeared and bent down to pick up Bo Yongliang.
“I wonder if he can withstand Heaven’s tempering.” The silhouette muttered as is looked at Bo Yongliang’s face.
