Blood demon leveling - 137 The powers of the continen
“So what do you want?”
The person however ignored him and spoke a seemingly practiced line
“Welcome to the port of New Gelia, may I know whether you plan to anchor your ships here for an extended period of time?”
“No, My servant is in the process of selling them”
“I see… Well then that would be all, please enjoy your stay in New Gelia and welcome to the continent”
Mike watched the person that seemed to have been a toll collector walk off now that he didn’t have anything else to say and sighed before he looked up
‘3… 7… 14 people flying around, seems like level 7 are a lot more common here’
Mike nodded before he sent a mental message to Frey to buy some carriages and unload the rest of the food onto them so they could leave as soon as possible, something about this city was making his instincts go off
‘I’ve got a bad feeling about this place… So let’s not stay here too long…’
Mike decided to walk around the place for a bit so he left the port area alone and walked around for a bit while feeling some eyes on him all the while, soon he found an inn and when he sat down at the counter a person sat down next to him and spoke to the bartender
“Two beers please”
“Got it~”
Mike looked over at the person and asked
“So… Who are you?”
The person, which turned out to be a non-human woman with a single large horn in the middle of her head spoke
“Me? I am Nalia and I am here to get to know you”
Mike nodded before he took a swig of the beer that had been placed before him, it was straight from the cellar so it was cold enough for him to drink without having to complain about it, or miss his home planet at all
“So, what do you want to know?”
“Well, firstly your level?”
“7”
“I see… then do you have a lover?”
“Yeah I have a wife that arrived here before me”
“I see… Then what kind of weapon do you prefer?”
“A knife”
Mike took another sip of the beer before he suddenly felt dizzy and gave a sigh as he manipulated his own blood to filter out the poison that his beer had been spiked with before he turned to Nalia and showed a smile before he stated
“This poison is weak, Nalia”
Nalia’s expression changed slightly before she suddenly showed a bright smile and spoke
“I see… Well, then what do you plan to do with me?”
“Hmm~ There’s no harm in telling you I suppose, you know a level 7 slaves sells for a lot right?”
“Well, sure they do… So tell me who else is going to get a share of this?”
“Well the bartender for one, besides that there’s the organization I work for”
“I see… so I better enjoy the beer you have poisoned for me…”
Mike lifted the beer glass up high before he cheered the bartender and then he downed the rest of the poisoned beer, then he spoke
“You never asked me what kind of magic I use?”
“Hmm~ sure then what kind?”
“This kind, [Blood domination]”
The bartender froze and so did Nalia who’s face gradually turned to that of extreme fear as she managed to stammer out
“You… Aren’t… Suppose… To… Be… Able… To… Use… Magic…”
“Well that would only be in the case that the poison actually worked on me”
Mike took the empty beer glass and spat the poison back into the glass before he got up from his chair and spoke
“Thanks for the beer Nalia”
Then Nalia’s and the bartender’s head began turning as cracking sounds sounded out before their heads twisted right off their bodies, this alarmed the crowds but no one really did anything to Mike when he churned up his mana circulation, when Mike stepped out onto the street a non-human man landed in front of him and spoke
“Where’s Nalia!?”
“In there, she’s in two pieces though”
“YOU..! FIne, she was expendable anyway, but now that you have offended the slaverunners you won’t have a pleasant day left in your missable life!”
“I see… Well I look forwards to that [Blood domination]”
Mike looked at the non-human man that now struggled to move as he asked
“Are you an idiot?”
Then he twisted his head off like he had done with Nalia before he walked back towards the port, on his way there he was approached by another person, this seemed to be a human man that walked up to him and spoke
“That sure was bold, pissing off the Slaverunners like that”
“Well they pissed me off first”
“True that… Well then let me introduce myself, my name is Maxwell and I represent the Adventures faction”
“I see… I figure you would promise me that if I join your faction you would keep the Slaverunners away?”
“Something like that, though don’t worry most people are members of the Adventures faction, we believe that exploring the continent comes before fighting over resources that we have already found”
“Sounds interesting… Though I think I’ll be fine on my own”
“Really? That’s a bold claim to make”
“Well, I just have a hunch”
Mike then walked off leaving Maxwell behind, after he made his way back to the port he sent a mental command for his servants to collect intelligence around the city to learn about who exactly he had just pissed off, by evening he had a clear picture about the Slaverunners
“So basically they are an organization that runs slaves around the outer edges of the continent, the so-called ‘free’ continent…”
Besides learning about the Slaverunners which was one of about 100 different factions there which were situated in the outer continent or the so-called ‘free’ region there was also a so-called ‘family’ region which was further inland, their powerful families had set up various cities which functioned like countries with complicated alliance networks that looked like something before world war one in Mike’s homeworld, further inland, beyond that was the ‘unexplored’ regions they were mostly inhabited by non-human races which were in a constant state of war with the ‘family’ regions, after all, most of the ‘family’ regions cites were build on the blood of their kin, a few non-human races had even been driven to extinction by the ‘family’ regions lords.
After processing this information Mike knew that Julie most likely was further inland in a so-called ‘family’ city, he also figured that this would have to be the clan which her mother left years ago
‘So Julie is in a city which lord is most likely level 8 or 9… I have a bad feeling about this…’
Mike looked around at his servants that were busy unloading the cargo into carriages and quickly got the feeling that getting more servants would not be a bad idea
“Perfect… I’ll take in the Slaverunners as servants…”
Mike showed a nasty grin before he called out
“Azroth”
[Yes, master?]
“Do you remember how far inland your tribe is?”
[…probably several months of flight time, though I don’t remember exactly, I’ll get a feeling when we’re close]
“Okay… For now, don’t revert to your dragon from… we want to keep you as a secret…”
[Yes master]
Mike found a place to sit down and began to daydream, then after half an hour the cargo was loaded and the group set out of the port city, moving in the direction of the rest of Mike’s servants for a few hours until it became night and the group set up camp, Mike had just entered his tent when he received a mental message from Azroth
[Master, sorry for disturbing your rest, but it seems that a group from the Slaverunners have shown up]
“Well, that was fast…”
Mike exited his tent again and looked in the direction Azroth was and saw a group of people on horseback approaching rapidly
“Well Well Well…”
Mike walked up and stood besides Azroth and waited for them to approach, meanwhile he sent mental messages to his servants and the Clicking cats to move to ambush positions as he narrowed his eyes slightly
