Blood demon leveling - Chapter 156
“Haa… Haa…”
A lone figure walked along the dirt road, he was tattered looking and his clothes were torn and covered in dried blood, he was walking rather slowly after all this was the 2nd day he had been on his way towards his destination without rest, food or water, his eyes, as expected were clouded over, but not from exhaustion or dehydration, no it was from hatred and anger, as he stumbled he only just managed to pull himself up as he muttered the name of his sworn enemies
“Wind… Spirits!”
What he had seen when he escaped his home city, the city of Kel, was a hellscape beyond reason or logic, people being hunted down in the streets, captured and being eaten alive
“Those… Demons!”
Even now he could still hear it, the sounds of his family and servants being torn apart and eaten alive, the sound of his people being slaughtered, the looks of disdain the Wind spirits had when they looked at him as he ran for his life
“I’ll kill them… All those dirty non-humans!”
Within the next few hours, he reached his destination, the city of Fere, where he collapsed at the gates after uttering his name
“I am Duke Kel…”
Mike lazed around for the next few days until he received a mental message from one of the Wind spirit’s and suddenly got up before he quickly began getting dressed, much to Julie’s surprise, she watched him for a bit before she asked
“Has the Fire iron’s sent another delegation?”
Mike nodded
“Yeah, along with payment, I need to go welcome them now”
“…I see”
Julie laid the book aside and stood up from the leaning chair she was sitting in and walked over next to Mike and helped him button his shirt before she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek
“Good luck”
Mike showed a smile before he spoke
“I’m off”
Mike summoned his wings and flew out of the courtyard where he and Julie had been lazing around, soon he arrived in the central plaza where he found the delegation waiting for him, he landed smoothly on the ground before he folded his wings behind his back and unsummoned them as he did all the Wind spirits on the plaza bowed down to him, Mike showed a slight smile and waved his hand which signaled them to get up before he looked at the FIre iron’s that had come with the delegation and spoke
“Welcome, please have a seat”
The head of the delegation was the same noble as the last delegation, he nodded and sat down, Mike showed a smile and sat down as well before he asked
“So… What do I owe this visit to?”
The noble in the expensive-looking clothes gathered his thought for a bit before he began speaking, Mike listened along, as he did his poker face began to slightly crack as his mind went into overdrive
‘Shit that king is good… Maybe I shouldn’t have performed a blood sacrifice in front of the Fire iron’s… Well, what done is done…’
What had happened was basically this, the king of the Fire irons had figured out Mike’s purpose for fighting in the war, or at least part of it, which were the blood sacrifices, the delegate had not said this directly, of course, instead, he had made up a long excuse about how they were running out of monster cores and had to lower his fee by 20%
“—That is if the WInd spirits have an interest in continuing the war effort and strengthening the bonds of our two races”
Mike showed a smile while he considered for a moment if he should off the entire delegation right now and cut his losses, but alas saner thought prevailed and as he faked an expression of apparent greed he asked
“How many soldiers does your king want to borrow this time?”
After the negotiations concluded Mike saw off the delegation before he asked the Wind spirits to confirm the payment which was stacked in leather bags in the corner of the plaza, this continued until evening, Mike showed a smile as he muttered
“2.500 monster cores… Not bad…”
From there the monster cores were quickly distributed to the Wind spirits that were close to leveling up with the ones closest to level 7 being prioritized, as a result from the 2.500 monster cores a total of 337 new level 7’s were born, these would help bolster their numbers, this was an unheard way of doing things, but Mike didn’t have the usual concerns of the other leaders in this world, after all, he was the only one with absolute loyalty among his followers
“And that is my biggest advantage…”
After another week passed the horde of Wind spirits were once again on the prowl, this time there were 1.000 level 7’s and 2.000 level 6’s, this horde moved towards the city of Helem where they would link up with the Fire iron army and match towards Jular, this time, however, would be nothing like the last time as the humans had used their alliances’ networks to call in reinforcements
‘I heard Hannibal died fighting 5 level 8’s…Well he was rather weak still… Maybe it’s me that’s strong?’
Mike didn’t realize at this point, but the fact that he had elder blood in his body made him… Shall we say a monster? Anyway, his pure physical stats were way higher than any other level 8 in this world, this was also due to the fact that he went through insane physical training once a week where he would not only push his body to the limit but also train his mental capacity via his ability to heighten control over his servants.
After traveling for a few days the horde arrived at the city of Helem where they were welcomed by a level 8 general named Gorge, he spoke respectfully enough but Mike could feel it, the hidden disdain towards not only himself but the Wind spirits he led, so he put on a smile and greeted Gorge
“…Welcome Mike”
“Nice to meet you, Gorge”
“Humph that’s general Gorge to you”
Mike sighed before he suddenly released his overwhelming presence and punched out towards Gorge that hurriedly put up a barrier which was instantly smashed under Mike’s punch before he was sent flying backward and crashed into the city walls which only just stopped his momentum, Gorge coughed up blood, then Mike spoke out loudly
“Your king has politely asked us to be here, we have no interest in your war, there are other ways to get the blood we require”
Gorge was furious and yelled
“Then why don’t you get the fuck back to your forest, damn sluts, only good at spreading your legs!”
“Now now, little Gorge… We made an agreement with your king and we intend to honor it”
Gorge coughed up more blood, but this time out of anger, calling any of the Fire iron’s for ‘little’ were an insult that was never tolerated
“Now then, we’ll be camping on the east side of the city, good day little Gorge”
“STOP RIGHT THERE!”
Mike ignored the yells of Gorge and kept walking hand in hand with Julie, the horde of Wind spirits began setting up camp on the east side of the city as Mike had instructed
“Are you sure it’s alright to provoke the Fire iron’s general, Mike?”
“Yeah it’s fiiiiiine”
Julie sighed before she shook her head and decided to stop asking him about it whenever Mike responded that way it was because he had a rather sinister plan in the works, or it was also a possibility that he just didn’t care to explain himself, either way, Julie was used to how Mike was acting by now, after all, they had been together for some time
‘That’s what is so cute about him… Better not say that to his face though, men always like to act cool, even though they’re all fluff inside, at least Mike is’
Julie looked at Mike with loving eyes for a bit before she hugged his arm and spoke
“I love you, Mike”
Mike showed a smile as he spoke
“I love you too Julie”
While Mike and Julie were flirting Duke, the sole survivor of the massacre of Kel woke up with a set, he sat himself up in the bed he was laying in and looked around before he spotted a maid that was standing in the corner of the room, he quickly asked
“Where’s this..?”
The maid lowered her head in a bow before she spoke
“This is the lord’s mansion, you have been asleep for about a day”
“…I see… Could you inform the lord that I’ve woken up?”
“The lord has already been informed”
“That’s good…”
Duke laid himself down onto the bed again and looked into the ceiling, even now he could still hear the screams from his home as it was getting ripped apart by the demons known as Wind spirits
