Blood demon leveling - Chapter 198
Mike sat himself up, then he spoke one word
“Again”
Then he walked forwards as he set his shoulder straight while his [Blood aura] healed his mostly mangled right arm at a frightening speed tissue was being printed by the aura, blood vessels, muscle fibers, and skin all layered on top of each other before his right arm was completely healed as he opened it the knife flew over and landed in his hand as he gripped it tightly, Mike was currently training
“Come on, fire already”
In front of him, about 5 meters was the muzzle of a mana powered cannon that fired a modified ‘dart’ round which Mike had designed, for this prime world this was rather revolutionary, the penetrating powers were about double of a modern tank from Earth and 4 times as powerful as the previous generation mana powered cannon, the cannon swirled as it took in mana from the soundings before it fried the round at virtually point-blank distance at Mike that reacted instantly and raised the knife and attempted to deflect the round, following a loud clang the round continued skywards as Mike had finally after his 147th try managed to deflect the round without bringing much harm to himself, as for whether the deflected round would land in the middle of a city or scare the crap out of some birds Mike didn’t really care, he was simply over the moon being for succeeding for the first time, this showed with a slight smile on his face as he spoke
“Alright, let’s kick it up a notch…”
Mike sent off a couple of mental messages and soon another two identical mana cannons were rolled into place in front of him…
Mike withdrew his aura as he stepped into the city, from there he walked back to the center where he quickly walked into his and Julie’s courtyard where he sat down on a chair and for a while, he sat and enjoyed the evening sun like an old man
‘Ascending huh…’
Mike had been eager and asked Beel how to ascend as soon as he hit level 9 but the only answer he got was “I don’t know, figure it out yourself” Which was more than a little disappointing for him
‘Oh well…’
Mike figured that this was the final test he had to go through before Beel truly recognized him as one of theirs
‘So either she doesn’t want to tell me or she doesn’t know…’
Mike sighed, it was clear that he could not depend on Beel to reach ascension like he had to reach level 9
‘Well I’ll figure it out, how hard can it be to ascend to basically godhood..? In the meantime…’
Mike stopped thinning as a pair of soft red hands covered his eyes from behind as a sweet familiar voice sounded out behind him
“Who’s here~?”
Mike didn’t even need to think as he simply answered
“Who else could it be but you Julie?”
“That’s right, who else could it possibly be?”
Mike felt a chill go down his back as he realized he had messed up, then he calmly spoke to her
“I was thinking it could be our future child that had ripped through space and time to be with their lovely parents… But your guess is as good as mine”
A few seconds passed before Mike heard a giggle from Julie who removed her hands from his face, he was seemingly spared this time as Julie sat down on the chair next to him as their hands naturally found each other, the two of them sat and looked at the evening sun for a bit before Julie asked him
“How’s it going?”
“Hmm… I don’t really know..? I feel like I am nowhere near ascension…”
“Julie showed a smile and gave Mike’s hand a squeeze as she spoke
“I feel that I am pretty close as if I can just reach out and grasp it…”
Julie stretched out her hand towards the last of the evening sunlight, but alas her hands grasped nothing, luckily her other hand was firmly anchored with Mike
“See? It’s like that… Like catching the sunlight in your hand”
Mike nodded he thought for a bit before he realized something and reached his hand out into the sky towards the stary sky, only to pause before he pulled back his hand and he continued to think, Julie looked at him from the side with a smile on her face as she watched the changes in his expression then suddenly Mike spoke
“It’s not rooted in technology that’s for sure…”
Julie’s smile winded a bit before she stood up and walked over before she sat herself down on Mike’s lap and laid down on top of him the two of them shared a kiss before Julie rolled around and looked up at the star sky, they spent the rest of the night looking at the stars
About a week passed since that romantic night, Mike was once again facing a magic cannon, more precisily he was fas facing 5 of them they shoot as soon as they were able still every round that was fired went skywards as Mike deflected them upwards, what he ddin’t know at this point was that the rounds were in fact landing in a populated area and were now being seen by some as a sing of the divine, but alas that didn’t really matter
*CLANG*
Mike raised his hand and signaled the cannons manned by Wind spirits to stop firing before he wiped his sweat and shock his wirst that was feeling a little numb by now, then he withdrew his aura and rembered that he had not gotten it on text exactly what his aura did
“Maybe I should go do that..?”
Mike nodded before he spoke our loud again
“Let’s do that…”
Then he summoned his wings and flew to the center of the city where he walked into the temple and into a new prayer room before he checked his status
Name: Mike
Class: Blood demon
Age: 37
Level: 9
Skills: [Knife control] [Drink] [Blood body enhancement] [Blood for blood] [Blood control] [Blood storage] [Blood magic: Blood domination II] [Elder blood bestowal] [Wings of Blood] [Blood reading] [Blood aura]
Magic type: Blood
Experience: 0 / 0
Mike looked at his status for a bit, the whole ‘0/0′ experience thing ticked him off a bit but he decided to ignore it for now and looked at his skills
“There it is…”
Mike clicked on the [Blood aura] skill on the list and soon its effects were displayed
[Blood aura]
Type: Active / Aura
Description: Deploys an aura of blood around the user, which functions as an extension of the users’ paths and points, allowing for various new spells. The aura has positive effects on beings who consume/require blood for substance and negative effects on all other beings, various implications.
“Huh… Well, that’s helpful, sort of?”
Mike looked his status over again and suddenly remembered something
“That reminds me… I never saw what this did?”
Then he pressed the [Blood reading] skill and soon some information about it were displayed
[Blood reading]
Type: Active
Description: Reads a target’s blood determining their combat potential on a simple scale from 1 to 100 as well as their level
“Huh… Neat, I guess?”
Done with that Mike walked out of the temple before he used his [Blood reading] Skill for the first time on a random WInd spirit then the words appeared in his head
Level: 6
Potential: 38
“Well, that’s kind of neat… I should use it to determine the members of a new elite squad…”
Mike quickly got on that and sent out some metal orders for the combat able Wind spirits to gather, then he used [Blood reading] on them all and found the best 10 and assigned them to be hunters to further increase their potential through actual combat, though one thing Mike was a little disappointed about was that they were only in the high 60’s, there was no one higher than that, Mike sighed before he got curious and tried to use the skill on himself
Level: 9
Potential: 89
“Neat…”
To be fair Mike’s body had been honed to this point by his extreme training, if one had used this skill on him when he first arrived on the prime world it would probably be around 40, as he walked down the street he heard the sounds of metal clashing and looked over to a plaza where Alexa was spring with some Wind spirits, walked over and watched on the sidelines as Alexa systematically drew her opponent into a corner, then he used [Blood reading] on her
Level: 8
Potential: 94
‘Well that makes sense, I always feel that I am one step behind her when we spar… Though with my newfound level advantage I should be able to beat her, only just though…’
Mike nodded to himself before he walked back towards the center of the city
