Bloody Secrets - 38 Goodbye, my love
ACE KIEN DE LAVE
I’m already inside the church waiting for her to arrive. I can’t help myself but feel nervous. I’m getting married. I looked in front of me and they were all smiling. They are all happy for us especially Uncle Christian, Auntie Rosalie, and Jayden who’s standing at the chair. I hope that he won’t fall there. But crap! My stomach started to feel strange. I think I’m about to take a shit here.
Hence, the music started to play. She’s finally here. I stood up straight and looked at the aisle. My stomach calmed by itself. All I can feel right now is my heart beating faster as this girl started to walk down the aisle.
The red carpet was overflowing with flowers. She was wearing this white laced off-shoulder ball gown with a lace veil covering her face on to her body. While, on both of her hands which was covered by laced gloves, there were red roses. She hates them but what can she do, she said that I bought it. Yes, I bought it for her because I forgot once again that she hated them. I smiled remembering how she got disappointed when I handed it to her.
Then I breathed heavily because she’s getting close. I just can’t believe that I’m going to marry this girl who is currently walking down the aisle. I noticed her smile. How beautiful she is!
However, the place turned dark. What just happened? Did it blackout again? It usually happens in this place so there’s nothing to do about it. We just have to wait until it turns back on. However, Aviana might get tired. She is just standing there alone at the center with those high heels. I tried to walk to find her but I suddenly felt something odd.
‘Enjoy it while it lasts. You surely know that we will find you wherever you go even if it’s hell.’
It suddenly replayed to my mind. I don’t know why I remembered her but the ambiance inside started to feel strange. I don’t like this. I was about to walk again but suddenly I felt that something sharp was pointed behind my back. Is that a dagger? I tried to look behind me but I just can’t see anything. It’s too dark in here!
“Hi. Ace.” She whispered on to my ear.
“Do you remember our first encounter?” She suddenly asked.
My head began to throb. First encounter? Hence, I finally remembered who she is. I recognize who Sophia is! Through encounter, she means the day when I was at the hotel and restaurant in Italy. The day when I was about to meet my fiance, Aviana. Sophia tried to kill me at the rooftop of the building but Aviana was there. Yes! I remember that she was the assassin who’s wearing that black outfit. She was the one that is trying to kill me.
“I’m here to fulfill that mission.” She added and to my surprise, she thrust the dagger behind my back. I didn’t scream. I’m in pain but I tried to hold it in. I don’t want to cause any commotion. It hurts yes but I don’t want everyone to see Aviana changing into that demonic figure again.
“Scream and they will all die.” She whispered once again and suddenly pulled the dagger out of my body. I was about to fall from my knee but she caught me.
“Be careful.” She said and let go. I know that she’s already gone. I heard her footsteps fading away among the voices from the guests that kept on buzzing.
Hence, the light was finally turned on. Everyone was relieved by that. I smiled. Everything is okay now. I looked at Aviana and I froze when she is looking at me coldly. No! She is looking at the blood dripping behind my back. Everyone can’t notice it since they are all looking at her.
‘Continue to walk’
I said to my mind.
‘Don’t mind me’
I added and so she proceeds to walk as the music began to play. She is still halfway there but damn! My wound is starting to ache. Did she use poison on that dagger? I bet she did. But why did I think of that? Aviana could read my mind. Oh! No! She began to cry. I just smiled at her to let her know that I’m okay. So that she won’t stop walking but she, even more, burst into tears.
‘Don’t cry.’
I said to my mind.
‘I think I won’t be staying for long.’
I added. She suddenly stopped walking. It’s as if my words turned her into a statue. Well, it’s true. I can’t stay any longer. I tried to maintain my posture but my knees finally gave up. I fell towards the floor. Everyone screamed after seeing me. I started to suffocate. I’m gasping for air. Am I dying?
Everything’s starting blur. Hence, I saw Aviana running towards me with her white long wedding dress on her hands. She still looks beautiful though my visions aren’t that clear anymore. She pulled up her veil to take a better look at me.
“H-hey.” She called. I felt her hands trembling when she touches my face. I held her hand tightly.
‘I’m here.’
I said.
“Ace!” She cried. I tried to talk but the only thing that came out from my mouth is blood. Ah! Damn it. I continued to cough blood.
“Don’t talk. Just don’t.” She said and cried once again. She wiped the blood from my mouth by her gown. I stopped her from doing so.
‘The gown will be ruined because of me.’
“That’s okay stupid!” She said but she’s still crying.
“I’m still weak. I can’t do anything for you. I can’t protect you. Look at what happened Ace, they want to take you away too.” She added, her voice was cracking as she speaks. She closed her eyes. She can’t bear to watch me dying because she can’t do anything. I know that this is the end of it. The poison that Sophia used was fast that it already spread to my entire body.
‘Aviana’
I said to my mind but she is still not looking at me. My tears started to fall. Even I am afraid to die but please! Just, please look at me. I’m afraid to leave you alone.
‘Aviana look at me.’
I called once again. She finally looked at me. Thank God her eyes weren’t still changing.
‘Aviana, I want you to know that this love of ours may not be like those other couples that we see often at the park that we usually go to but I’m happy. I’m happy that I fell in love with you. I’m happy that it was you. I’m happy that you were always there protecting me even though it was my obligation to do so. We may have not been together for too long but at least I’ll cherish our memories together and I hope you’ll do too.’
Her tears continued to fall. I can see that this is hard for her but for me too. I can’t bear to see her crying like this.
“Don’t say that!” She screamed and hugged me.
“Please don’t say that.” She begged as she tightens her embrace. I can hear her heart pounding fast.
‘I love you Aviana. I am afraid to die. I’m afraid to live you alone. I’m afraid that I think that this is the end of it. The end of our story is near. Goodbye, my love’
