Blossoming Flowers - Chapter 220
The eyes of the man were flashing with a mixture of appreciation and anger. Although he was amazed by her brazen behavior and apparent lack of fear of death, he was also sullen over being threatened by a woman with no background.
But he could understand why Zhou Yan and Han Qingshan were so head over heels for her. She was better than his sister by far.
But at the same time, he was furious. Who was this woman to say that she would have no regrets if she pulled the Mu family down with her?
“Well, we will send some food to you later,” the man maintained the smile on his face, albeit it was not as brilliant as it was before.
After that, he dragged the woman out with him, completely ignoring her unwillingness and the hatred that seeped out of her eyes whenever she looked at Jiang Yingyue.
As they exited the room, the reverberating sound of a slap resounded through the corridor. The slap was not light; it was immensely hard, and five fingers instantly imprinted themselves onto the woman’s cheek as blood rushed to her cheek.
“Brother, why would you hit me?!” she exclaimed, blood dripping from the corner of her lip.
“Idiot!” the man scoffed at her. “If you did not kidnap her, do you think things would have ended up in this state?!
“You wanted to kidnap her and ruin her to vent your anger, but have you ever once considered the consequences of your actions?
“This woman is protected not only by Zhou Yan but also by Han Qingshan! The truth is that she is a couple with Han Qingshan, so why are you so jealous of her? She is not even with Zhou Yan, and very unlikely to ever be with him!
“What you have done has caused the Mu family, who has existed through generations, to be on the verge of collapsing! But that was not enough for you; you had to push us over the edge!
“By kidnapping her, do you really think we will have a chance of talking peacefully with the Zhou and Han families any longer? This is a warzone now!”
“But brother! If it doesn’t matter then why won’t you let me ruin her? At least my anger can dissipate somewhat then!”
“Are you a retard?” the man scoffed at her with annoyance and disdain. “As long as she is unharmed and in our hands, we can use her to get at least a little leeway against them. If something happened to her, do you honestly think we could keep our lives?”
“The Zhou and Han families don’t engage in illegal businesses though,” the woman refused to give up. “They might have some guards, but what can they do against us?”
“You honestly think that they have no underground forces?” the brother laughed mockingly. “This is their country; of course they have hidden forces.
“Not to mention that this place is not our home turf. We have no real means to fight them.”
“But if we cannot fight them, then they can’t eradicate us either,” the woman continued, but the brother shook his head. “Our base and Zhou Yan’s base are in the same country. We have no way of survival.”
The woman was angry and gritted her teeth, unable to hold back. Why was this woman so lucky that two such outstanding men would fight for her?
At the same time, Jiang Yingyue was listening in on their conversation; her ear plastered to the keyhole in the door.
She understood more and more of their motive, and she felt a cold chill run down her spine. So the purpose of kidnapping her had been to ruin her? That was simply inexcusable.
She felt a chill run down her spine and felt lingering fear. Although she felt as if the fear was overwhelming her, she quickly calmed herself down and forced it to retreat. She could be afraid when she had gotten away from this place.
She dared not believe that the man would be able to hold the woman back for long. She was so obsessed with ruining her, that the longer she stayed, the more dangerous it would become.
Her eyes flashed with coldness, and she went to the windows to check her surroundings. She was in a mansion, and from what she could see, it was somewhere in the countryside.
There were no other houses in the surrounding area, and guards were patrolling the ground. Even more guards were guarding the entrance to the mansion.
A big wall was surrounding the entire plot of land, and one had to enter through a gate that was around three meters tall.
She was trapped, but she refused to give up easily. Muttering to herself for a moment, she returned to the door to listen, but no sounds could be heard outside.
When the two siblings had left earlier, she had glanced outside, only to see that there was no one guarding her room. They were not worried that she could escape from such a heavily guarded mansion.
Even though she knew that she could escape the room, she did not rush. Instead, she sat down on the bed and began planning. She understood that getting out of the mansion and on the other side of the wall would be hard, but she was not going to sit and let others save her. She had to give it her all to escape.
If she waited too long, her life would maybe not be in danger, but the torture she’d expereince would be grueling.
After contemplating for some time, a determination gleamed in her eyes, and she slowly left the room.
Outside the room was a large corridor. The corridor was completely dark as no lights were turned on and there were no windows to let the moonlight shine inside.
Jiang Yingyue placed her hand on the wall and slowly moved towards a set of stairs she could see at the end of the corridor.
The stairs led down to the floor beneath. Her goal was to enter the cellar of the house.
She was not sure what they held in the cellar, but if she was lucky to find some power tools or other items she could use in her escape, then she would be happy.
