Blossoming Flowers - Chapter 237
Jiang Yingyue had been laughing and crying at the same time. She had felt sad and happy, dejected, and ecstatic at the same time; her emotions had been a rollercoaster ride.
Han Qingshan had been watching her all this while, his heart aching when he saw the tears freely flowing down her cheeks, but he soared in happiness whenever he saw her gentle smile or heard her laughing out loud.
He felt that the conversation Jiang Yingyue had with her mother was the most taxing experience he had ever experienced.
He was even more emotional than he usually was when discussing million dollar contracts.
Jiang Yingyue finished the call, and the last reluctance she had vanished without a trace. Jiang Fengmian was not forgotten.
Even in the village where they had lived before, although all of them had disappeared like that, he was still remembered, and people looked after his grave for them.
Her parents had never forgotten him either; they were just doing their best to help her cope with her sadness. Now that things had escalated to this point, she finally saw clearly how the world was.
Han Qingshan could suddenly sense a mixture of complicated emotions washing over Jiang Yingyue. She was as if she had let go of something that had weighed on her mind for ages. Her back was straight, and her eyes were glistening, but at the same time, she did not seem happy.
Jiang Yingyue was indeed feeling somewhat lost. She was relieved and happy to know that Jiang Fengmian was finally getting the respect and remembrance that he deserved. Still, she was also reminded of her brother, which made her feel guilty for her selfishness throughout the last nine years.
Sighing, she calmed herself. She could not change what she had done, and knowing her beloved brother, he would not blame her either.
Now that things were like this; it was time to make up for it to Jiang Fengmian.
She looked at Han Qingshan. “When you have time, we should take a trip back home,” she said with a low voice and reached out to hold onto his shirt with two fingers.
Her appearance was very much like a small child trying its best to convince the adult about something.
Han Qingshan’s heart almost melted when he saw her like this, and he nodded his head. “I am a bit busy recently,” he warned her, “but we can take a break later, and during the break, we can return home to meet mom and dad alongside your brother.”
Hearing what Han Qingshan said, Jiang Yingyue’s ears turned scarlet alongside the rest of her face. ‘Mom’ and ‘dad.’ Was that something he should call her parents already?
Seeing her embarrassment, he quickly guessed her thoughts. He stood up and strode to her side, embraced her, and sniffed the fragrance of her hair, which was unique to her.
“We are getting engaged next year and married the year after. It is only a matter of time before I will be your husband, and then we will be a complete family. There is nothing wrong with me calling them mom and dad ahead of time; I am sure that they are okay with it too.”
Jiang Yingyue looked at Han Qingshan and took his hand. “When we go there, we will have to ask for their opinion on our engagement. I cannot say yes to an engagement with you without my parents’ permission.”
Han Qingshan felt elated. She was not rejecting him calling them mom and dad; nor was she complaining about having to get engaged with him. She just wanted her parents’ approval first.
He swore that he would get them to agree no matter what.
He would never let Jiang Yingyue have a reason to leave him; he was going to make her parents love him as much as she did so that they would have no reason to decline him either.
Jiang Yingyue was not aware of Han Qingshan’s sudden thoughts. She was unaware that Han Qingshan would go to unimaginable lengths to make her feel comfortable around him so she would never leave him.
After her encounter with the kidnappers, he had realized just how important she was to him, how impossible it was for him to live without her, and he would do anything for her to never leave him.
If he could, he wanted to bring her with him everywhere he went, and no one else to see her. But he knew that she had her own plans for life, her own ambitions, and her own dreams.
He loved her, and although he was scared of something happening to her, he could not bear to see her saddened. Hence he accepted that she would belong to society, that she would not be a stay at home wife either.
Time flowed like water, the season changed, and it was almost time for the exam to happen.
During the changing of the seasons, Jiang Yingyue had been continuing her work as Han Qingshan’s assistant. She was not willing to be provided for by him, but her work hours were fewer than initially planned.
She had gotten a few close friends amongst Han Qingshan’s cousins, and she was often spending time with them. When she was not with Han Qingshan or her friends, she was at the Han Mansion spending time together with Yan Meilin.
Her life was fulfilling, and she was happy. She would also call her parents a few times a week to talk with them.
Both of them had found jobs again and were living much happier than before.
It was planned that when the exams had ended, Jiang Yingyue and Han Qingshan would come to visit them back in their old village.
