Born As The Emperor’s Daughter - Chapter 189 Welcome Back 3
A loud booming voice that was like a lion’s roar was heard throughout the place as the carriage arrives on the other end of the line, right in front of the carpet. Although it was only one person who shouted, it feels like 10 people did as his voice was loud and was like a roar. “Please welcome their royal majesties, the princes, on their honorable return from the academy!” Alexandra flinched when she heard that voice but immediately calm down as she stared at the carriage. Her overwhelming anxiety was now replaced with excitement and she couldn’t help but fidget with her slightly shaking cold hands. Her breath was held in her throat not attempting to release it into a sigh until she sees them.
With her heart that seems like it was palpitating due to excitement, everything seemed slow for her. From the knights that went down their horses in an elegant way that even their capes fluttered like wings on their back from how they step down and place the soles of their shoes on the ground, everything was slow for her, a slow waltz or dance. With her bright surroundings and blinding sun that shine upon them as if it was also excited to see the princes step out of the carriage. The carriage door was open and it feels like a bright light emerged out of it, 4 figures came down in line and looked around the place making it seems like they were foreigners or tourists who came to visit this palace.
Alexandra’s feet were feeling itchy or something but she doesn’t want to scratch it, she badly wants to run to their direction, throw her body towards them and engulf them in a hug. She was lonely in this palace when Chandler, Gilbert, and Calixander was gone and was even lonelier when Christian was gone too. They only exchanged letters but that wasn’t enough for her. Am I being clingy or something? Was I spoiled by them too much? She asked herself yet she didn’t think of her previous actions that looked like she was being clingy and just stared at her brothers who were walking towards them. Not breaking her gaze off them or averting their eyes even though they look blinding and shining brighter than the suns in her vision.
The expression on her face became brighter as seconds passed by and they drew near them, her smile widened. They stopped in front of them, a few steps away from their father and sister. They bowed their heads in unison and Calixander spoke in his usual tone of voice yet it was warm and gentle to Alexandra’s ears, “Father, we’re back,” Was what he said and he didn’t raise his head. Alexandra tapped her foot against the ground repeatedly as she was getting excited and anxious. It was clear that she was being impatient and she wants their conversation to end already.
“Welcome back,” Her father said in his usual tone but there was warmth in his gaze as he stared at his sons who was now raising his head. He noticed Alexandra being fidgety and excited all of a sudden, her foot continuously tapped against the ground and she was playing with her hands. He knew why.
He called out to her in a low yet soft voice, not his usual tone but Alexandra didn’t think about that, “Alexandra.”
She lifted her head and slightly tilted it to the side to look at her father in the corner of her eyes, she blinked multiple times her eyes wide with wonder and her foot tapping against the ground stopped yet she was still playing with her hands. Even though it was unusual, her father has a small smile on his lips barely noticed unless if you stared at it long enough to see, he nodded at her as if he was giving her a signal or allowing her to do what she wants.
Alexandra was confused for a moment before she realized it. Then her eyes widened and her orbs gleamed in joy. She turned her head towards her brothers’ direction and noticed that they were staring at her, she gave them an eye-smile and a bright expression was etched on her face before she threw her body towards them, her arms spread out and engulfed them all in a hug although she could barely hug them all as her arms were only short yet she didn’t mind nor did they.
“Welcome back!”
She said in a cheerful voice and let out a small giggle in the end. Though her brothers were still recovering from the sudden hug she gave them, Calixander placed one arm and rested it on her back, her hand giving it a small pat and Christian being the affectionate and sweet person that he is, decided to wrap his arms around all of them engulfing them deeper in the hug. Gilbert just remained still as he was holding a book on his chest but he relaxed in the hug. Chandler, being the tsundere and not a sweet sibling that he is just let out a huff and turned his head away but he was stopping himself from smiling.
“We’re back.”
—
The tines of the fork and the bowl of the spoon hitting against each other lightly emitting a medium-pitch sound resonated inside the dining room. Even while eating their breakfast, Alexandra was still grinning, the bright expression that she had earlier remained on her face as if it was a mask that she badly doesn’t want to remove as it suited her. But nobody minded as Christian was still like that but his expression was much softer yet the aura and demeanor that he held were much brighter and cheerful than Alexandra’s.
They look like extremely happy idiots, Gilbert thought to himself as he ate quietly, not a single emotion seen on his face but he was relaxed and comfortable as he ate. It’s just that, it feels like flowers that don’t even exist nor was seen in this room was blooming and flooded the room because of Alexandra and Christian. Chandler, though seeing that their breakfast was his favorite, couldn’t help but grin but their reasons were different.
It doesn’t seem like they were siblings because of the difference of their personalities although Alexandra and Christian were like twins because they were similar or alike to each other. Aside from that, they always have the same look or expressions on their face.
A giggle escaped Alexandra’s lips which she immediately surpassed and just continued eating. What is she even thinking of in the first place that made her giggle like that? Gilbert thought to himself. Well, what Alexandra was thinking was Christian’s letter, he wrote about what happened in their dorm when Gilbert didn’t wake up and he sealed the door with his magic so nobody wouldn’t enter and disturb his sleep then Chandler made a hole that could fit three people on the wall just to enter his bedroom. They successfully woke him up but they have to fix the hole with magic and Chandler have to change his uniform. They dragged Gilbert to his building before they go to theirs and they were late.
Imagine how chaotic and messy that is. Not even their personal knights who were there to guide them somehow couldn’t stop them. Alexandra couldn’t help but smile widely. She bets that her peaceful and lonely days would be gone and be chaotic and messy. Well, it’s not like she hates it. Although she likes it when it’s peaceful, being lonely and silent for the whole time was what she hated.
Chandler stopped eating and looked at Alexandra, “Could you please stop?” Was what he said and placed his fork and spoon down. Alexandra lifted her head and look at Chandler’s direction, the grin on her face became a small smile as she opened her mouth to speak, “Stop what?” She asked him in a confused tone of voice.
“Grinning and giggling all alone, what are you even thinking?”
“Says the one who is smiling widely when he saw the food and sat down before our father could,” Alexandra fired back, her smile turned into a smirk. Oh, how she missed arguing with Chandler although it was always nonsense things that they are arguing about. A tick mark appeared on Chandler’s forehead and the grip on his spoon tighten. Although they were always like this, they don’t completely hate each other. It’s almost the same as him and Christian.
Chandler, not knowing what words to throw out her just let out groaned and sighed in defeat before he continued eating in silence. Oh, he didn’t fight back, Alexandra blinked multiple times as she stared at Chandler as if she was staring at a hologram or having an imagination. Did he just give up? Well, it’s not like it’s bad or I hate it, it’s just new, she thought to herself and shrugged before she continued eating.
That’s how their breakfast went, just all of them silent the whole time and not talking to each other but it was clear that it was enough for them. Just all of them being together and eating together once again was already enough.
—
This time, Alexandra was with Christian and Gilbert while her other two brothers were somewhere in the palace. Probably on their training grounds or something. Nevertheless, she didn’t care about where they are as she knew that she will see them later once again or if she walks around. It was already afternoon and her sessions with Ferdinand were already finished and she was able to learn and know everything that she needs to know. In her last day or session with him, she gave him a cake that was made by her with the help of Diana, Yulli, and Daisy and it actually turned out well although she made multiple mistakes have to redo it many times until it became perfect.
The cake served as a ‘thank you’ gift since he was teaching her for almost 3 years and was always patient with her when she doesn’t understand their lessons. Sometimes, while they were having their sessions, he would give her a piece of advice whether it’s about life when she is having a hard time or something like that or when she is lonely. Ferdinand became one of the closest people to her. Due to his age, he was actually old, older than her father, he was like a grandfather to her. He already has his own family yet he keeps on teaching her and spending time with her, treating her as his granddaughter in the process.
Ah, thinking about it, I badly want him to teach me once again.
She will have another tutor or teacher that will teach her how to dance, proper etiquette and manners, conversing properly, and such things that are needed to be a proper princess. Arthur wasn’t here today as he was with Sir Friyedor, probably another training or task from him.
“By the way, brother Christian,” She called out to her brother while she was sitting on the blanket that was laid on the ground so that her dress wouldn’t get dirty. She was in the courtyard, on the grassy field underneath the tree with a small house which was Gilbert’s place. Gilbert was leaning against the tree while reading a book in silence. However, he was just near them and could hear what they were talking about. Christian responded yet he didn’t look at her direction, “Yes?”
“Have you heard?”
“Heard what?”
“That father is going to announce my existence through at the ball on Brother Calixander’s birthday? Also, I am going to have a coronation as the princess of this empire a month after that ball,” Alexandra said it in such a casual voice as if it was something simple.
“I see, you’re going to be a priEh?! What did you just say?!”
For a person who is always calm and composed and would rarely break down or cry no matter what situation they are, it was quite new to see Christian shout with a bewildered expression on his face as he suddenly turned his head towards her direction. Even Gilbert was shocked when he heard what Alexandra just said.
It seems like nobody still has told them yet. Alexandra let out a sigh knowing that she would have to speak and explain it all to them.
