Born As The Emperor’s Daughter - Chapter 191 New Instructor
It was early in the morning. An hour and a half after she woke up.
“Alexandra, meet Miss Vivienne Rose from the Belline Bloodline, she’s going to be your new instructor,” Klaus said referring to the woman who was standing in front of them. Somehow, ever since she met Klaus, he was becoming more and more involved in her daily lives. 11 days have already passed and there are 7 days left until the Celebration of the Winter Star. She was excited but not the same as before because she would just be alone in her room, garden, or in the library, either her library or their private library. They would celebrate together on the 2nd day either by exchanging gifts and having a feast together along with the servants or by eating outside and watching the winter star disappear from the night sky like they were having a picnic on an empty grass field on a sunny day.
Carlos was standing behind them as usual, watching the scene unfold in front of him.
The woman in front of them was the daughter of a noble, a count to be exact. She has a light-colored brown hair and dark-colored irises, she looked completely normal but the aura and demeanor she held were equal to a daughter of a duke.’ Simple yet elegant and beautiful’ is what you could describe her. Even her attire was just simple, a long-sleeved white shirt with buttons and a cream-colored high-waist skirt that reached past her knees. She looked quite young, probably the same age as Diana. She wasn’t tall nor small, her height was average yet her body was slender.
Alexandra stared at her with pure wonder and her eyes were sparkling. The woman who was her instructor smiled at Alexandra. She looked trustworthy and gentle, I’m sure that she will keep my existence a secret until my father would announce it. “Blessings and Glory for the Queenilia Empire. It’s a pleasure to meet you, young miss Alexandra,” She did a curtsy bow, bending her knees with one of her feet behind the other and slightly lifting her skirt up as she lowered her head to show respect, a tender smile on her face which wasn’t seen. Even her voice was smooth and sweet. After she spoke, she lifted her head.
Alexandra also did what she did, also giving her a curtsy bow and spoke, “It’s also a pleasure to meet you, Miss Vivienne. I will be in your care starting from now,” Was what she said, trying to be formal and elegant as much as possible and she succeeded when she heard the woman’s response. “My, my, it seems like you already know the basics. Did someone teach you?” Alexandra lifted her head and smiled at Vivienne before she spoke.
“My maids taught me how to. One of them was a daughter of a noble and one learned how to through watching and such,” Alexandra responded. “I was informed by your father, your maids might be quite skilled as they were the one who taught you how to read, write, the basic manners and greetings and such,” The woman’s voice was gentle as she spoke. She was giving her an eye-smile.
“Yes, they are,” Was what Alexandra responded but she was proud of that. Since she spent almost 10 years with them and they were always with her from the moment that she opened her eyes, helping and teaching her always. They were like her family but sadly, they have to leave and only 3 remained when she moved here in this palace. But it’s not that bad, rather than them being tied to her not being able to do what they want in their life. “Then, I’ll be taking my leave now as I still have matters to attend to,” Klaus said, interrupting their conversation before he bowed his head and took his leave, walking towards the door behind them and left the room through it. The sound of the door closing resonated inside the room.
“Oh, right!” The woman suddenly spoke out of nowhere, grabbing their attention. “I have something to give you, young miss. Please just wait here,” Vivienne turned her heel around before she walked towards the table surrounded with couches, a spot or place where they can rest or take a break when they are tired, from the lessons and such. Well, the room was big and there was a huge space, the only thing occupying some of those space was the couches and the table that was on the far end of the room. Alexandra patiently waited in her position as she watched the woman walk back to her, carrying a small paper bag.
Alexandra stared at it with pure curiosity, wondering what’s inside that bag and what she is going to give her. The sound of her heels clanking against the floor was heard throughout the room and echoed. She stopped in front of her, 3 steps away from her. She slightly bent down and handed her the paper bag which felt heavy but she can carry it when Alexandra gently took it from her hands, curiosity overwhelming her system and wanting to rip the bag open. “May I ask what is inside this?” She asked, resisting the urge to open it and just ask her about it.
“That’s my gift for you since you are going to be my student until you learn everything from me. Like a reward or something.”
“But I still haven’t do anything?”
“It’s fine, just accept it. If you want you can take a look inside, it’s fine by me.”
Alexandra didn’t respond and just slowly opened the bag, revealing the contents. Inside it, there was another box and the aroma it emitted wafted to her nose and she could guess what is inside it already. She suddenly lifted her head, her eyes gleamed in joy and sparkled like stars. Witnessing her reaction, Vivienne couldn’t help but giggle as she thought of how cute her reaction was. She opened her mouth and spoke once again:
“His highness, your father, told me that you like sweets so I thought that before I go here, I’ll buy you some as a gift,” Alexandra stared at her for a few seconds and her smile widened.
“Really? Thank you!”
“You’re always welcome, young miss,” The woman smiled at her and resisted the urge to ruffle Alexandra’s hair and pinch her cheeks.
—
After having her afternoon meal with her family, Alexandra went to the garden. She only spent an hour or two with her instructor, Vivienne. It’s sort of a ‘get to know each other’ session or event since they were just talking with each other while eating the sweets that she bought for her. Alexandra learned that Vivienne was 25 years old and was the same age as Diana but she was a few months older than her because Diana was born during autumn while Vivienne was born during spring.
Vivienne told her some of the things that she is going to learn from her and that includes dancing, manners, proper conversation, proper greetings and bows, and such things. Even though she was the daughter of a count, she was usually the one who teaches those noble girls. Many female nobles look up to her grace as she was similar to a simple yet beautiful flower and an elegant swan and Alexandra couldn’t deny that.
Arriving in the garden, Alexandra roamed her eyes around the place, looking for a certain figure. Flowers surrounded her and a gazebo was seen. Carlos was following behind her and didn’t ask who she was going to meet as he already knows who it is. Walking around until she reaches the far end of the garden, a path leading to another location, Alexandra spotted a boy leaning against a tree not far away from her as if he was waiting for someone. Realizing who it was, a smile graced upon her lips and she fastened her pace as she made her way towards her.
She stopped a few steps away from him and the tree that he was leaning on before she opened her mouth and speak, calling out to his name to grab his attention, “Arthur,” The young man was startled by the sudden voice and he snapped his head towards her direction. Alexandra smiled at him and approached him, standing in front of him and her personal knight was a few steps away from them. “A pleasant afternoon. I apologize for making you wait,” Alexandra said as she smiled at him.
“No, it’s fine. I just arrived a little while ago.”
Alexandra hummed and didn’t say anything. She just stared at him, observing his features. There were bags underneath his eyes that didn’t exist before and his complexion looked much more pale and tired than the last time that she saw him. The usual glow or sparkle in his eyes wasn’t there and his eyes looked dead. Just like Klaus’ eyes when she first saw him. “You look tired and exhausted,” Alexandra blurted out and she only realized what she said after she spoke. However, Arthur didn’t mind and replied: “You think so?”
He placed his palm against his cheek and stared at her. “What happened? Did Sir Friyedor gave you too many tasks?” She asked in a worried tone of voice, still staring at him. “Well, sort of. You know that I am going to be an official palace wizard and not under-training anymore. I am still his disciple under-training and my tasks increased because of that,” Arthur explained and let out a sigh.
“I see, I feel bad.”
“Why?”
“Because I didn’t know that you have so many things to do yet here you are, still obligated to come to the garden to either teach me about magic or just spend time with me even when you are tired.”
“No, it’s fine. I can still manage.”
“Don’t force yourself. We can just take the day off and you can rest instead of teaching and train me.”
“B-But” Alexandra interrupted what he was about to say and hushed him. “Besides, my new instructor arrived today and our schedule would always be during the afternoon. She will be my instructor until I learn everything. You already know why right?” Was what Alexandra said and showed him a smile yet her eyebrows were upturned, the expression on her face was a worried one.
“Right, but are you sure about that? You were really excited when you learned another spell and you still haven’t learned and mastered all of them.”
“It’s fine, okay? I’m not going to get angry just because of that, I am not selfish. You’re tired and busy, as well as I. Until our schedules are cleared up and we aren’t that busy, let’s continue our usual sessions, okay?”
“Are you sure about that? Usually, girls say that they aren’t going to get angry but will after.”
Alexandra gave him a dead-pan look as if she was saying ‘Are you serious?’ before she let out a sigh and took a step near him, if she took another step, their bodies would be close as well as their faces yet she didn’t and just remained in that spot before her hands reached out to his face, placing her palms against the side of his cheeks before she pinched it. “I-di-ot,” For every syllable that she spat out, she stretched his cheeks. “Aow, zhas hurz,” Arthur said some gibberish words which she couldn’t understand but she knew what he was trying to say as she pinched his cheeks. [Translation: Ow, that hurts.]
Alexandra let out a sigh before she let go of his cheeks and took a step back. “I am sure and I will not get angry, I promise. Besides, I already told you, right? That I would also be busier especially during the afternoon starting from now,” Alexandra said and smiled at him, her eyes closing in the process and as if on cue, the wind blew gentle against them. Her hair that was tied in a ponytail fluttered along with the wind as well as her skirt.
His eyes widened as he stared at her and his breath was completely stolen away as he stared at her. No, nothing bad happened but rather, he just realized that Alexandra was beautiful if you stared at her more. A light shade of pink tainted his cheeks and realizing this, he cleared his throat and composed himself.
She’s 10, you’re 13. Stop, he thought to himself as he slowly let out a deep breath.
“I-If you say so. Thank you for understanding.”
“No problem, we’re friends, right?”
Somehow, hearing the word friends sent an arrow straight to his heart.
