Born As The Emperor’s Daughter - Chapter 201
Gilbert could hear Carlos heave out a sigh for the second time since his little sister left their side and doesn’t want him to accompany her as she walks around. It was clear that he was worried since this is her first ball and all and something might happen to her. Not more than 10 minutes has passed ever since Alexandra left.
There’s a chance that she bumped into them since she is heading towards the buffet table, he thought to himself and brought the glass to his lips but noticed it was empty, he just sighed and placed it back down the table. He was talking about Christian and Chandler who also told him that they are heading towards the buffet table while they were in the middle of bickering with each other. Calixander wasn’t seen anywhere, he is probably in the garden again. Even though this ball was for him. He also doesn’t see his father anywhere along with the person that he was talking to since earlier. Probably some business or work-related things.
He looked around the place, everywhere he laid his eyes on there were human beings dressed in expensive and fancy dresses while holding a fan or a glass of wine in their hands or nothing at all as they laughed and chatted with their acquaintances, they were wearing masks that were invisible to everyone. A façade. Their accessories and jewelry sparkled and glimmered underneath the light and it feels like they were showing off.
This is society, it’s ugly.
Fake people are everywhere. That is why he is worried about Alexandra once she will have her coronation and becomes a proper or official princess. That means everyone’s eyes would be on her watching her every move, one small mistake and they will judge her whole existence. She needs to be careful starting from now but that doesn’t mean that she isn’t allowed to do what she wants. After all, that is the main reason along with other reasons why father decided to announce or tell everyone about her presence, he thought to himself.
Nobody can touch her and control her freely anyways. She has an emperor as her father, 4 princes as her brother, a knight who is a vice-captain as her personal knight, and she is also close to the Elders. Aside from that, she might be innocent, sweet, carefree, and gentle but she’s hard-headed, strong-willed, and doesn’t back down or surrender easily. If you bark at her, she would bite back. She says whatever that she wants without hesitating, catching the person she is talking to off-guarded.
Well, it’s rare for her to insult someone or fight back. She would just ignore them or walk away. But if you truly do anger her, I’ll be praying for you.
“You’re stupid.”
“Haaah? What do you mean by that? You’re being rude.”
“Anyone would think that you’re stupid because of what you did.”
Chandler and Christian returned still bickering at each other. Christian was holding two cupcakes in his hands as he walked while his head was turned at Chandler’s direction who looked like a mess as if he went through a fight. His clothes were wrinkled and leaves are sticking out of his hair, some were on his clothes. There was a frown on his face as his personal knight behind him were trying to surpass his laugh while his shoulders were shaking, he was covering his mouth and trying his best to look away whilst wanting to calm himself down and regain his composure. Gabriel remained expressionless and quiet as usual as if this wasn’t bothering him.
Gilbert shot Cortez, Chandler’s personal knight, a look which is asking him what happened but due to him trying to stop laughing, he can’t give him a proper response so when they arrived in front of him, he asked Christian what happened.
“What happened? Why does Chad look like he fell into a bush or got stuck in a tree?”
“Well, that’s because he did.”
And that’s where Cortez burst out laughing as he can’t handle it anymore. His arms were wrapped around his stomach as he slightly bent down while laughing. Christian just sighed and Chandler spoke in an irritated tone of voice, “Cortez, shut up,” He said. His laugh died down after a few seconds and he cleared his throat before he spoke, “I apologize, pfft–,” He cleared his throat once again as a burst of laughter threatened to come out of his mouth since Chandler glared at him while emitting a menacing aura.
“Tell me what happened, I thought you were at the buffet table.”
“We were at the buffet table. We were bickering with each other earlier, right? Even when we arrived at the buffet table, we were still bickering and arguing. We were talking about his magical abilities and spells which he isn’t good at but then this guy wanted to prove to me that he can teleport properly now, he said that he was going to teleport on the other end of the room.”
“And what happened after that?”
“He did teleport but not on the other end of the room, he wasn’t there so I thought that he might be outside the garden hanging upside down a tree or on top of a bush to which he really did.”
“I was in that dimension or something for like 10 whole minutes, I don’t know why it doesn’t work properly.”
What he meant by that dimension is that unknown place you would be in when you teleport, that one place Alexandra felt like she was being turned upside down or riding a roller coaster. It’s like a room or dimension between time and space.
Even though his family or bloodline was known for being powerful when it comes to magic but not all of them are, some of them are not good when it comes to magic but when it comes to weapons and such, they are masters at it and vice versa. Just like Chandler. Gilbert isn’t good at weapons but when it comes to magic and spells, he is really good at it. Thanks to reading multiple books about it when he was still a child. Chandler was exposed to weapons and was trained early that’s why he is good at it.
One question was bugging Gilbert’s mind and he decided to ask them that.
“What about Alexa? You didn’t bump or talked with her at the buffet table?”
“She’s at the buffet table? We didn’t bump into her at all, probably because we immediately went to the garden as soon as we arrived there.”
“Ah, I’m hungry because of what happened earlier. Let’s go to the buffet table.”
“But we just went there.”
“But we didn’t eat, did we?”
Gilbert suddenly became anxious and nervous all of the sudden, he was at ease earlier because he thought that Alexandra was with her two brothers but it turns out that he didn’t. He was about to open his mouth to speak and interrupt the conversation that they were having but his eyes darted at the commotion on the far end of the ballroom where the buffet table is, people surrounded it and it seems like they were watching a scene or something.
His brothers noticed that Gilbert was looking at something that was far away from them, his expression crumpled and they became curious about what he is looking at so they also turned their heads in that direction. They only saw people gathering at that place but it was at the buffet table where Alexandra is.
Crap.
—
“You’re a witch, right? You charmed the princes and the emperor, you changed your appearance and you also altered their memories. You were also the one who killed the empress, she didn’t die from giving birth but you killed her. All these years, the reason for her death was unknown and it wasn’t stated.”
The girl smirked after she spoke as if she knew that this was her victory and what she said was right. Alexandra just stared at her with disbelief in her eyes but the gentle look on her face remained. This girl is delusional, she thought to herself and restrained herself from letting out a sigh because she knew that it would just make the girl angrier. The two girls behind her were just standing there, probably moral support.
Maybe I could burn her dress as she spoke, I could just cast one that is a size of a tear or two but that would also burn her alive, she thought to herself and preventing herself from smirking by the idea of it. She probably learned this from Harrison, after spending so much time with him.
“Look, you’re silent. That means I’m right! You are a witch. As far as I know, witches can do spells like that with ease,” Then the girl let out a laugh after she spoke. Alexandra just rolled her eyes as she turned her head away from her as if she couldn’t handle looking at her face. Since her hands were occupied as she was holding a glass of juice and a plate with a slice of cake. She just wants to eat this and return at her brother but she was dragged into some sort of trouble. People started gathering and watching the scene that this girl was making.
Feels like Pokemon.
Random delusional and crazy female wishes to fight you. What are you going to do?
Fight
Leave
Alexandra chose the first option.
“Are you stupid?”
Is what she said, grabbing the attention of the female who was laughing. Her laughter died down and her mouth formed into a scowl as she glared at Alexandra, trying to intimidate and scare her. But she was already used at being glared and her brothers and father are way scarier than her. I apologize in advance to Carlos because I broke our promise though it wasn’t a promise, she thought to herself. She was referring to what she told him earlier before she left that she isn’t going to make a scene. Nobody wants to step in and stop them.
“Haah?” The girl in front of her said in an annoyed tone of voice. She looked like she was around Gilbert’s age. Alexandra opened her mouth to speak once again.
“Let me rephrase that, you are stupid.”
And delusional to have such thoughts, she wanted to add but stopped as she was still controlling herself. The grip on the things that she was holding tightened and she was resisting the urge to pour the glass of juice on her. To think that someone brave enough would say those things to her face-to-face, she must be the one who was whispering that she is a witch and she hates her since earlier.
“Whatever you say, you’re a witch. You just used them for fame and money, didn’t you? Witches are wicked, I bet your real appearance is ugly and an old woman. I suggest that you stop pretending now since everyone knows that you’re a witch. Look, they are gathered here already,” She said and smirked as if she was thinking that she won and Alexandra is going to surrender. Like what the heck? This girl exceeds the category delusional.
Alexandra sighed as if she wasn’t having it anymore. “Is that all you’re going to say? If so, I’m taking my leave now,” Alexandra said but she didn’t turn around as she still has something to say. The girl was about to speak when she interrupted what she was going to say.
“Also, I suggest you be careful about what you are going to say. After all, you’re a daughter of a high-ranking noble, perhaps a Duke or a Marquis? You probably forgot that you are talking to a member of the royal family, the emperor’s daughter. See the difference? I can tell my father to demote your rank into a baron any time that I want.”
Alexandra was smiling but it was a cold and sadistic one, probably because of the lighting on her face that made her expression a cold and dangerous one instead of gentle. There was a glint on her eyes.
“Are you blackmailing me?”
“I’m just giving a warning. To you and to everyone in this room.”
The girl was about to say something once again but Alexandra interrupted her.
“And also, I’m not a witch. My father even clarified and told everyone about it. Even the Elders say that I’m not, altering their memories take so much effort and mana. It’s the Everlys that we’re talking about here, I’m sure that I would be dead even before I do so. So my theory about you being delusional and stupid is true. I hope that you understand that, okay?”
This time, her smile and voice was a sweet one as she said her last sentence, her eyes were closed in the process. “I’ll be taking my leave, I hope that you take my warning seriously.”
She turned around and walked away but she was abruptly grabbed on the shoulder forcing her to turn around once again, her hands letting go of what she was holding in the process. The sound of something crashing and breaking was heard as she let go of it. She was now facing the girl once again but she was thinking about her cake and glass of juice on the floor.
Now she has done it.
“Y-You—” The girl raised her hand and it looked like she was going to slap her as there was an angry expression on her face. However, her hand didn’t make contact with her cheek as someone grabbed her wrist and she was thinking that it might be one of her brothers or her father.
But it wasn’t.
Instead of seeing platinum-colored hair, she saw dark ones, his height towered over her, casting a shadow over her.
“Ah, really. That’s enough.”
She heard his voice once again and this time, she was sure that she wasn’t hallucinating as her eyes widened in surprise. It’s him. It really is him.
Harrison.
