Born As The Emperor’s Daughter - Chapter 231
“What? What are you staring at?”
Harrison’s voice rang inside her ears as she continued to stare at him, seeming like she was glaring at him or something. He felt uncomfortable with the stare that she was giving him and it was weird. Alexandra was just silent the whole time even when he arrived just a few minutes ago.
They were inside her room, Alexandra just finished her tea party with her friends and only returned from her room 10 minutes ago. She was quite exhausted even though all she did was just eat and talk with them. To think that she will find that exhausting.
Alexandra was sitting in front of Harrison with her arms crossed. The usual table was separating the two of them. There were books placed on top of the table, some were scattered while some were just stacked. Harrison was on the ground, slouching and holding a book as he stared at her. His eyes were narrowed down on her and his hair was quite messy as if he didn’t comb or fix it while he was on the way here. His coat that he always wear was placed on top of the couch, not folded. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled up to his elbow, revealing half of his pale-skinned arm.
His eyebrows were scrunched. There was a trace of curiosity seen in his crimson eyes as he looked at her.
Alexandra was just staring at him since earlier and didn’t speak to him. She called for Harrison telling him that she wants to talk to him about something but now that he is here, she was just silent and staring.
What am I even planning on telling him anyways? I just called him on a whim thinking that he might be busy and I just want to see him, she thought to herself. There were many thoughts running in her head and she was panicking inside.
The only sound that was heard in this room was the gentle melody the vinyl recorder was emitting which was found in the corner of the room along with the sound of leaves rustling outside her window. Her curtains fluttered lightly along with the gentle breeze that has made its way past the open window and inside her room.
She heard Harrison let out a sigh before he opened his mouth to speak once again.
“Are you not going to say anything?” Harrison said as he placed down the book that he was holding. Climbing up back to the couch as he moved the coat so that he won’t sit on it. He adjusted his position and made himself comfortable, his right foot was placed on top of his left thigh and his elbow was being propped up the armrest of the couch. His features softened immediately after.
Alexandra, after a moment of being silent, finally spoke. “I don’t know what to say. I just want to see you, is that bad?” Sometimes, she hates herself for being blunt and straightforward. It just slipped past her mouth and before she knew it, she has already said what was inside her head. Though she was quite thankful for it.
Harrison was taken aback as he blinked his eyes multiple times while he stared at her, without saying anything just like what Alexandra did earlier. “Pardon? Can you repeat what you said?” He asked her, not believing what his ears just heard. He was doubtful that’s why he asked her to repeat what she had said once again. Alexandra just narrowed her eyes down at him for a moment before she spoke once again, her voice serious.
“No. I already said it.”
“Just one more time.”
“You heard it, I’m sure. Why do you want me to repeat it?”
“Just once.”
“No.”
Alexandra continued to refuse his request, trying her best to not blush and pouting her lips.
She just realized her feelings for her earlier when they were talking about likes and crushes with Amanda and Maribelle during their tea party. Now that she has realized it and wasn’t being naïve or oblivious anymore, she became more conscious of how she should act around him and such. This is just normal, right? Especially when you didn’t realize your feelings up until now and you are close to that person for years. What should I do?
“Stingy. You’re being stingy, Alexandra. Just once,” Harrison said as he let out a sigh. “You should like a sassy child with that, stop,” She fired back and let out a laugh, Alexandra’s laugh was contagious that he also couldn’t help but let out a short chuckle which her ears didn’t fail to hear.
There it is, that palpitating feeling in her chest, the fluttering butterflies in her stomach, the feeling of her face heating and becoming flustered. That feeling as if there’s only the two of you in this world and how you wish that time would stop at this moment. If she has a camera now, she could have taken a picture of that but she doesn’t have one, so she would just burn that image of him laughing inside her head. Not daring to forget it.
Call my name again, she thought to herself as she watched him, her laughter dying down immediately afterward.
God, why now of all times? Why did I just realize my feelings now? I want to scream so badly, there were multiple thoughts inside her head and she just couldn’t get rid of it easily. She wants to forget it, she wants to bang her head against the table and forget her feelings for him.
“That’s unfair,” She couldn’t help but say as her lips were forming a pout. Harrison’s chuckle died down and there was a cheeky smile seen on his lips, his cheek was leaning against the palm of his hand as his elbow was being propped up by the armrest, his legs were crossed. Adding to that look was his messy hair that looked quite pleasant and it suited him, his captivating red eyes were staring at her as if he was looking straight at her soul.
“What’s unfair?”
“You’re being unfair,” She responded bluntly.
It’s unfair that I am here, having feelings for you and would probably go crazy from it. It’s unfair that you’re just there, laughing and smiling, making my feelings grow more than it was before. Even though this might look like some sort of crush or puppy love for you since I am a kid but it’s not for me. Inside this 14-year-old girl is an adult woman who just experienced falling in love. It’s unfair, everything about you is unfair. It’s unfair that you like someone even when I am just here, she wanted to say that to him but she resisted the urge to do so.
She just remained silent and still while staring at him. The thoughts inside her head won’t stop, it was distracting her. Thankfully, Harrison doesn’t have that ability to read minds, or else she would die from the embarrassment that is overwhelming her.
This is just normal, right? When you like someone and you are currently talking with then, you’re going crazy on the inside. That’s just normal and fine, right? I don’t know a thing about love or feelings, this is just my first time. If I knew that I would be put in this situation, I should have prepared beforehand or asked someone about it. But the only people that she knows who knows what to do in this situation is her friends who were also in love with someone.
The worst is Amanda is in love with the same person that she likes.
She’s stuck in a situation which she doesn’t know if she should choose herself or her best friend who has always been there for her.
9 years of friendship and I don’t want to break that just because I confessed.
“Oh, right. I’m going to ask you a favor, I won’t accept ‘no’,” Alexandra spoke once again, breaking the fragile silence that surrounded them. There was a hint of curiosity in his eyes but the expression on his face was calm and composed. There was no hint of emotion seen or traced.
“Amanda wants to talk with you.”
“Is she going to confess to me? I already told you to tell her that I like someone already,” Harrison responded as he let out a groan, slumping on the couch, making it seems like he was evaporating or something. Alexandra just rolled her eyes before she opened her mouth to speak once again.
“It’s not that. She’s asking for help from you, you’re the only one who can help her.”
“Why me?”
“I don’t know. You two are just going to have a talk and it’s up to you if you will agree to help her or not,” Alexandra shrugged as she averted her gaze while she spoke. Her attention was now on the books that were scattered and stacked on top of the table. She picked one random book up, flipped its pages and not reading its content at all.
A sigh slipped past his lips before he spoke once again. “We’re just going to talk, right? No confessions or whatever? I won’t be forced in doing something I don’t want, right?” He asked her as if he was doubtful and thinking hard about his decision. Alexandra nodded her head every time he threw a question at her.
“Fine, I’ll do it but you have to be there.”
“Okay, I will tell Amanda about it and I will really be there, of course. But I won’t listen to your conversation, it depends. Thank you though,” Alexandra said, a smile has made its way to her lips. Her expression was beaming with joy though something was whirling and surging inside her as if she doesn’t like that idea at all. Harrison just hummed as a response.
Silence surrounded them once again and Alexandra decided to break it by speaking and asking him a question.
Harrison has picked up the book that he placed down earlier, reading it. His attention was diverted to the book that he is reading but was returned to Alexandra when he heard him spoke. Although he was still looking at the book.
“Won’t you tell me who you like?” It seems like she is looking for ways to break her heart, how wonderful.
“No.”
“Oh come on.”
“No.”
“Bummer.”
“Naïve.”
Alexandra just glared at him though she didn’t understand why he called her naïve.
