Born In Blood - Chapter 11 Purple Storm
In her previous life, because Anoi didn’t have a great figure to show off, she paid close attention to what she was wearing.
Frankly, Anoi used to believe that her big break up happened partly because of her messy appearance. She thought that if only she was thinner, then she wouldn’t be thrown to the side and left alone. Gradually, she came to realize the whole truth, but she still started choosing what to dress with great care. She wanted the clothes to flatter her figure, and even learned pattern matching and applied color theory to her outfits. The unhealthy style of life made her skin to be sickly pale, so she couldn’t rock some colors without them making her look even paler.
All the clothes lying in front of her were way too baggy. “Over-sized makes you look skinnier,” that’s what Anoi used to say before. But she knew now that clothes that actually fit, will beat any “style” out there.
The colors were too flashy for her taste. The pants too short, and the shoes of poor quality, to save up more money. In short, her closet sucked.
“I’ll just buy some new clothes. For the time being, lets wear this and go shopping,” Anoi said and quickly changed into the best outfit she could find: jeans and a black shirt. She quickly put on the only coat that she owned.
“Not too shabby.”
Anoi walked out of her apartment and headed out to the only store she could remember of: a famous glass-roofed shopping center not too far from her house. It took her around ten minutes to get there, fortunately without getting lost.
The sun reflecting in the stores’ glass windows was blinding the lonely girl, and making her shield from the sun. It felt very peaceful.
It was a rarity to walk around like this. There was little time to spare in her previous life. It was actually quite a while since her last time shopping everything was ordered online to spare the trouble, even clothes.
Once Anoi saw a pretty dress in one of the stores, she walked inside and quickly went into the changing room. The dress fit her perfectly (which didn’t happen that often), so she picked a pair of shoes to pair with it and went to pay for the purchase. Anoi hadn’t checked the price, and so she was taken aback by the situation at the counter. However, what shocked her wasn’t the price itself, but small quantity of money she found in her wallet it was barely enough.
Perhaps it was an after-effect of being murdered and getting a second chance, but Anoi felt her personality changed. She became more carefree. And thus, didn’t even mind to check her wallet.
“Well, money can be made,” Anoi said as she paid for the clothes.
She walked out of the door, and was checking the message with the address of the caf, that Jackie sent her not too long ago:
“xxx street, 28b, “Glass Castle” caf on the right. YOU’RE LATE!!! HE’LL BE HERE IN A MINUTE!
>: (
WHERE ARE YOU??? ”
Anoi looked at the name “Glass Castle” and ignored the rest of the message.
“Glass Castle,” she mumbled.
This sounds familiar.
Anoi pondered for a second before realizing:
“Of course, it does! I saw it just a second ago!”
Anoi turned her head to the right and stared at the caf that was just 10 meters away from the clothing store.
And there, at the nearest table behind the window, Anoi caught a glimpse of the familiar figure. Her heart filled with melancholy and nostalgia at the sight of her friend’s most favorite purple jacket.
Anoi was overcome with longing for talking to Jackie. She also felt very sad.
In the past, Jackie was killed in a car crash.
Anoi stared hard for a while.
And soon, the person that was being stared at noticed it and turned around to see Anoi. The person’s face showed obvious anger.
Shoot! She was seen!
Anoi tried to cover her face with the bags she was holding but it was too late: her friend had already stormed out on the street.
“You!!! Were you that hungry you even ate all of your conscience for breakfast? Because you clearly are shameless!
Anoi, as a friend, you are a disgrace!”
