Born In Blood - Chapter 27 You Can Still Marry Me
Scott apologized once more. Anoi wasn’t used to people saying sorry to her, since she was mostly ignored in her past; moreover, she wasn’t used to celebrities saying sorry to her, since they regarded her like the lowly trash, that accidentally appeared before their eyes.
“Nah, don’t mind it,” Anoi put on carefree attitude. “If you are really sorry, then treat me to dinner sometime in the future.”
That was her strategy to slowly win him over.
Surprisingly or not, Scott agreed right away and exchanged contacts with her. Maybe that was because he felt guilty, maybe because he liked treating people to dinner.
“Or, maybe,” Anoi said to herself after parting with Scott Wiltshire, “he’s interested in me?”
“Don’t flatter yourself, sweetheart,” Anoi heard from behind.
Her shoulders stiffened. She really didn’t want to turn around.
Curses! Why can’t he just disappear somewhere she can’t see him?? That’s their second meeting in a single day!
“Unless he is blind.” Lint sweetly insulted her and came closer.
“Why don’t you mind your own business.” She retorted.
“I am. I can’t bear to see my future significant other gazing at other men.” He stood in front of her. This made Anoi wonder whether he knew the concert of personal space
Anoi pulled out some loose change and handed them to Lint. He took them and then gave her a questioning look.
“For treatment.” She explained. “Go and find a doctor, Lint. We’re not lovers. Not now, not in the future.”
He broke into a genuine smile.
“My, didn’t know you are a soothsayer.”
In fact, she was, in a sense, able to predict the future, but she’s not going to tell him.
Anoi didn’t like how he acted towards her. He was overly intimate.
“You know,” Lint said, “My marriage offer still stands.”
Anoi felt that after rebirth Lint was weird. Was the young him also like that in her previous life?
He was supposed to be ruthless and inhuman. What in tarnation is going on with his personality?
Anoi recalled her memories.
Although when they were working together, he didn’t share any of his past to others, there were some rumors going around about him. Like why he joined their company.
Apparently, That Woman did Lint some life-saving favor. Out of gratefulness, Lint decided to pay her back, and did all the dirty work that She gave him. He was nicknamed by his colleagues as “pageboy” though they never said that to his face, for the fear of getting killed.
There were also whispers about Lint and Her being lovers.
It proved not to be true because soon She got married to Anoi’s ex.
But Lint, who was indeed interested in Her, didn’t leave the company and continues doing his job.
Some called him loyal.
Anoi agreed with them, but only partially. Anoi didn’t think of him as a “loyal follower”. In her eyes, he was a “loyal dog”.
When her ex broke up with her, she let go of their shared memories. She couldn’t understand people who’d stay devoted to their cheating boyfriends or girlfriends. Thus, she thought of him as stupid, not faithful. Why let others trample your heart?
