Boundless Human World - Chapter 16 Long Stream Sect Vs Divine Demon Sec
Deep inside each of the mountains of the Long Stream Sect, there were secret and deeply hidden locations. Rows of spirit battleships lined up in these places. At other locations throughout the sect were also massive production sites. Many more spirit battleships were being assembled. The construction was ceaseless This had already been going on for a long time.
These spirit battleships were war machines and could fly in the sky and rain down destruction upon the earth. They were durable and had high offensive ability. They were piloted by cultivators, the higher the cultivation of the pilots, the more powerful they were. Although after the level of the Spirit King, no matter how powerful the pilots were, the power of the ships remained the same. This was the current limit of the spirit battleships.
Scattered throughout the sect were more than a hundred of such spirit battleships in total. The amount was sufficient to defeat a second-rate sect like the Divine Demon Sect in a decisive battle, destroying the sect wasn’t out of the question either.
The over one hundred ships were only the fully operational ships. Many more were in construction in the many secret facilities inside the sect. Only the highest echelon within the sect was aware of these production sites and even of the existence of the battleships themselves.
War machines like the spirit battleships were not something that the sects and cultivators preferred using. Although the battleships had the word ‘spirit’ in it, they weren’t used by sects. The cost of constructing and maintaining them was enormous. The sects already had to spend a massive amount of resources to groom their disciples and leaders, they did not have the spare resource to waste on outside implements like the war machines.
Even the first-rate sects, the sects that were as powerful as the entire empires did not primarily use spirit battleships. They had the power to go up against a fleet of such ships, but they did not use it themselves.
The spirit battleship and other war machines were a staple of the empires on Short Continent. They were used to wage war and to maintain control of territory. Cultivators rarely made use of them. The existence of the production facilities inside the Long Stream Sect and the buildups of the spirit battleship was a suspicious thing. Only the resources of an entire empire could do such a thing. It was impossible that this was the work of the Long Stream Sect. Would the Heaven Empire bother building and housing their spirit battleship fleets in a second-rate sect inside their territory that had no ties to them?
The sky above the six mountain peaks of the Long Stream Sect had an almost imperceptible change. Something that had been there earlier had disappeared. Some Long Stream disciples and elders looked up in the sky and felt odd, but they couldn’t tell what made them feel that way.
Suddenly something appeared above them in the sky. An enormous palm made of darkness descended down on the six mountain peaks. The palm was so large that it covered the sky. The radius of 50 kilometers from the central mountain peak and the surrounding five peaks as the center was covered in the shadow of the palm.
The palm descended faster and faster and then the palm transformed into countless lines of darkness that rained down on the six mountain peaks. Everywhere that the black lines fell to exploded. The black lines were like rain. A black rain showered the six mountain peaks and the surrounding area. The sky and ground rumbled, countless explosions erupted. Mountains shattered and rocks disintegrated. Countless members of the sect instantly perished in the blast without pain.
“Divine Demon Seeect!!!!!!” the pained and furious scream of the sect master sounded out from the top of the central mountain peak.
A few dozen beams of blue light shot out from the mountains and below the ground. It collided with the raining black rays in the sky. It wasn’t the ground that was exploding anymore, even the sky was exploding.
The blue and black rays of light collided until the world became still and silent. If one looked at the six mountains from the sky, they would find that the mountain and ground had many craters and cracks. It wasn’t even a mountain or a ground now. The whole place was uninhabitable.
Forty-nine spirit battleships rose into the air. All the remaining survivors of the sect were now inside the battleships. Each could accommodate a few thousand occupants. The Long Stream Sect had acted very fast. Their disciples and elders didn’t even have time to question what the battleships were before they were already in them.
The forty-nine spirit battleships accelerated and shot through the sky and headed for the direction of the headquarters of the Divine Demon Sect. It was not even half a minute yet before the battleships already disappeared beyond the distant horizon.
Shura looked on at this scene calmly. As soon as he had done the impossible and disabled the Long Stream Sect’s grand defensive shielding formation, he had retreated as far away and as fast as he could as per his master’s instruction. He was able to watch the grand spectacle first hand. He couldn’t help but think what would have happened if he was still near the sect and got caught in the crossfire?
The cultivation world was truly cruel. Those battleships would now be the Divine Demon Sect’s problem.
A thousand kilometers away to the south from the Long Stream Sect was the headquarter of the Divine Demon Sect.
Unlike the Long Stream Sect, the Divine Demon Sect was one enormous city constructed on the peak of a solitary mountain that had been flattened to allow construction.
The Long Stream Sect’s spirit battleships were spread out in the air in a grand formation above the sky of the Divine Demon City. The battleship’s main cannon that was embedded into the ship’s bow glowed with an eerie blue light. Spirit particles were being absorbed by the ship, preparing to deliver a destructive blast of compressed spirit energy. Countless Spirit Kings on each ship were controlling the ship’s absorption of spirit energy and even supplying their own energy.
The ships were ready to fire.
“Fire!” an angry voice yelled. This was the Sect Master of the Long Stream Sect, Sect Master Word. It was he who screamed in rage when the black palm of the Divine Demon had turned into black rain of destructive energy and laid waste to his sect and disciples.
Forty-nine beams of blue light erupted out from the ship’s bows. The beams of light instantly traversed a great distance and arrived above the Divine Demon City. The beams of light met an invisible obstruction. The blue light from the spirit cannons was blinding but they were unable to pierce through the defensive barrier of the city.
“Hahahaha, tough isn’t it?” Shura’s master laughed aloud back in his residence as he looked up in the sky.
Any sort of large scale attack against a place fortified by defensive formation was difficult to succeed, especially a defensive formation on the scale of a sect headquarter or a great city.
“Still, I never expected the kid to succeed. How had he managed to do it?” Shura’s master muttered.
Seeing the scene of forty-nine beams of light crashing against a barrier above the city and then dissipating, Sect Master Word was so angry that his face couldn’t get any redder.
The same sight would’ve met his enemy’s attack were the sect’s shielding formation still up. It was only because his sect’s shielding formation did not work that the enemy had been able to inflict such a crippling blow to his sect. The surprise should’ve been on their side. They’ve become much stronger in recent years due to the help from that family. They should’ve been the winners in this conflict.
‘How did they get through our barrier, how!?’ Sect Master Word thought.
He took out a rectangle wooden token and poured his spirit energy inside of it.
“The battleships are out in the open, you either help us wipe out the Divine Demon Sect, or this is over,” Sect Master Word said to the wooden token.
It was silent. After a long time, a reply came out from the wooden token. “Fine, we’ll do it now,” the voice of a young man came from the wooden token.
Sect Master Word unsheathed his sword and threw it down from the battleship.
“Sword!” he shouted.
“Sword!” “Sword!” “Sword!” “Sword!” “Sword!” His voice echoed ceaselessly in the sky above the city. Everyone in the sky and down in the city could hear him.
The sword that was going through a swinging motion as it traveled straightened, the tip of the sword aimed down at the city. The Sword increased its speed and became bigger and bigger. It became the size of a mountain and it was already about to come into contact with the city’s shieling formation.
A sharp sound spread out as the sword touched the barrier. The sword tip turned red from friction.
“Break!” Sect Master Word shouted.
