Boundless Human World - Chapter 38 A New Shura
The book had come to him and now it was gone. The Saint also came and went away as well. Change was ever constant. Only Shura himself remained. Although there had been changes within and without him both small and large here and there, he was still alive. It had always been this way. There was no other constant other than his own existence. There was nothing more reliable than himself.
Something changed ever since he doubted his cultivation path. Everything had gone wrong ever since that point. If a cultivator doesn’t cultivate, doesn’t become stronger, more famous, more wealthy, more happy and abundant than what could they do? If a cultivator doesn’t ‘cultivate’ oneself, then what else was there to do in life, what was the point of living?
By doubting himself and denying his identity as a cultivator, Shura became aimless and lost himself. It should not be surprising that he became miserable and incapable as a result of it.
A mental demon appeared then. But it was gone now.
He might have his opinions about cultivators and the violent and ruthless cultivation world, but it didn’t change that he was a cultivator. He had willingly walked down this path. He should and would see it to the end, for he knew of nothing else, and that was fine. He accepted it. If he could not, then this was it. This was all that he was and all he will ever be: someone who found himself lacking and was not content with it at all.
The distant and ever far away peak was the ultimate goal, no, the only goal of a cultivator. Everything else was nothing more than distractions and decorations on the way there.
If he could have nothing else, or if he could only have just one thing, then he wanted the strongest and supreme power for himself. He wanted to be the ultimate being. It was the fruit of cultivation, so he would cultivate.
He would rely on no one. Whatever he wanted, he would obtain with his own strength. And if his strength was lacking, he would increase it by himself!
Shura made a solemn vow in his heart. He will become the strongest being ever, and he will get there with his own determination, will, and perseverance.
Shura sat down and began to cultivate. There was nothing a cultivator needed to do other than to cultivate.
The bright sky turned darker and darker until night completely engulfed the forest Shura was in. Shura still sat cultivating.
He would not move a single muscle until his cultivation made a breakthrough to the next level. That was all there was to it.
Shura examined his body. He knew he was halfway through the Star level, he was a Three Star cultivator. He could fight equally against a Four Star cultivator normally, but under special circumstances and with external help, he could fight a Five Star. His current state wouldn’t continue for long. He was going to increase his strength one more level and reach the Four Star level. At that level, a change would occur in his battle prowess once more.
Shura sat like that for ten whole days, neither moving nor eating or drinking anything. The spirit energy he was absorbing for his cultivation was his sole focus and sustenance.
Shura opened his eyes on the dawn of the eleventh day. He was now a Four Star cultivator. If the earlier information were to be believed, he was now a match for a Five Star cultivator and could fight a Six Star under special circumstances.
It hadn’t taken him long to go from a Three Star cultivator to a Four Star cultivator, but there was a reason for it. No matter how much he cultivated by absorbing the spirit energy in the atmosphere from now on, he wouldn’t be able to become a Five Star cultivator. He needed to absorb dense and pure spirit energy in spirit stones, and in massive quantities to make any progress.
This was fine. Although he might not be able to cultivate normally in the future, in the short-term he was able to quickly increase his cultivation. That was best for the moment. He needed a decent amount of strength in the present.
Shura stood up. He held up his two palms and scrutinized them. These hands and feet were going into action now. He had been idle and self-absorbed for far too long. It was now time to becomea a mover and shaker. He would do things and affect the the world around him.
It was just that he knew too little about this world and how it worked. He was slightly experienced in fighting and killing, these were simple to him. If he were to fight and kill, even if it was against a Saint, although he wouldn’t win he knew how to do it. But of other things, they didn’t come simply to him at all.
Where he could get spirit stones? If he didn’t know, then would he do what he had done earlier in the Lower Realm by becoming the highest authority where all the spirit stones flowed to?
Was such a simple person once an emperor of an entire world within the Lower Realm?
Where there were people, there were spirit stones, and where there were spirit stones, there were people. Shura decided he would go to someplace where there were a lot of people. He would do something there and obtain spirit stones for his cultivation.
It was just that that somewhere was very vague in his mind. Where was this place full of people and spirit stones ripe for the taking? He didn’t know. How could he know? What did he have to do to know? He didn’t know…
Shura needed a massive amount of spirit stones, again. There was no way he was going to be able to procure the amount he needed by normal means. He wasn’t going to be able to get it as he was either. Fortunately, he was able to resolve all of these things.
All of a sudden, his problems were solved within one day. He fell asleep during cultivation on a certain day. A handsome man came to him in the dream while he was asleep and impaled a sword through Shura’s stomach. The pain immediately woke him up.
Shura found that he didn’t feel the pain on waking up, but he felt heat in his Core. This heat was different from anything he had ever experienced before. It wasn’t the comfortable heat one had when one was deeply immersed in cultivation or was about to break through a cultivation level.
This heat persisted for some time and it spread to every part of his body. He even felt this heat in his mind. As weird as it was, he could really feel his consciousness being warm.
After a short period of time in this heat and warmness, Shura’s mind became blank, and his body felt empty as if it had disappeared. A moment later everything appeared again. His mind was alert and lucid, but it wasn’t the mind that he had earlier.
Shura’s body and Core also reappeared. The sensations were more vivid and he felt more awake and alive. He could feel more. The body that reappeared wasn’t the body that disappeared either. He no longer had a Core and he couldn’t feel any of his meridians either, but his body was brimming with energy. His body felt fresh and powerful.
Everything was different.
‘I am not a Four Star cultivator. I am in the Saint level. I am a Saint,’ Shura said to himself in his mind.
Thus, whatever problem about spirit stones Shura had been thinking about earlier didn’t matter anymore. This was because he wasn’t that Shura anymore, the Shura that needed spirit stones to break through to the Five Star level.
“A Saint can fly in the Higher Realm,” Shura said. These were his first words as a Saint.
Shura levitated and then ascended to the sky. He hadn’t flew in the sky for a long time. This sensation was familiar, yet also strange. The sensation and feeling of flying was similar, but it also felt different. Because this was another him flying, a new him, Saint Shura! It hadn’t been long since a Saint came here and confronted the weak him. Now he himself was a Saint. Shura can also ‘see’ the residual energy of that Saint. If Shura wanted, he could easily track down that Saint. He’d beat him up as well. There was no doubt within him that he could not do this. No anxiety or fear was present either.
How all of this was possible was something Shura didn’t care about at all. It happened, and it was good for him, that was all he needed to think about.
Shura flew with great speed in the air and followed the residual of the spiritual energy of that Saint. It had been many days and the residue had faded. But Shura was still able to see it clearly. He could even see where that Saint went after he came to the wilderness for the book. In fact, if he wanted to, he could track down any Saint like this as well.
