Brelin: The Writer Lives the Life of a Time Limited Villain - Chapter 24
After finishing the conversation with the Marquis, Brelin turned her head to the side where Redross was. Then, because of his taller stature than everyone else, it was funny to see his neat blonde hair rising above the crowd, so she smiled a little.
It’s something she’s felt since coming to this banquet with Redross, but Redross was the one who caught the attention of all women. Even though it was obvious that he was married, women would glance at him with regret or with lust.
It was not only the women who gave such envy, but the men as well.
Of course, everyone in the world knows it’s an arranged marriage, and everyone knows that he can’t like Brelin, but he’s a coveted person of any gender….
However, the moment she saw the people standing in front of him moving and looking at him, she understood the crowd’s gaze.
The men in this banquet hall weren’t all that ugly, but Redross was a really good-looking guy that would make you sigh even when compared to anyone else. His slender but muscular body was accentuated by a tight navy suit, and a white shirt made his bright complexion stand out and shimmer.
Being handsome to that point, even losing his fortune in an instant would make him look like an unlucky male protagonist.
Moreover, in reality, he soon gains a wealth that will not be comparable to the fortune he lost before. It’s thanks to his own strength and the power of the ‘female protagonist in the novel’. It’s only a matter of time, but that doesn’t mean he’s incompetent.
Anyway, because he was that good, he must have been that popular.
Well… Even if he loses his confidence, he would still live well. He will live better . The moment I disappear, he will find his true lover.
She kept staring blankly at him when she realized that his gaze was not falling from her while she was thinking.
If you came to the banquet to take care of your network, why do you keep looking at me instead of being diligent with the people around you? Is something strange?
Brelin was somehow embarrassed to look at him any longer because his eyes were stinging.
I naturally turned around thinking about what to do next. I felt a sting in the back of my head, but I didn’t care much.
She looked around her, looking for her short red-haired girl. Red hair was so common that it was everywhere, and she had to go out of her way to remember the description she had given her.
After quite a while of navigating through the crowds, Brelin managed to find the character she was aiming for. The lady, wearing her plain sky-blue dress and with a burn scar on her face, was cheerfully chatting with the others.
She was the head of the intelligence guild who had the power to search large merchant ships. The count of people who knows the identity of the guild’s leader can’t even reach five fingers.
Brelin took deep breaths lightly to relieve the tension and then walked up to her with her smiling face.
“Hello, Cherry.”
“Oh my gosh, Brelin Vermont?”
Talking with the head of the information guild means that long introductions are not necessary. She recognized Brelinat a glance.
Brelin nodded her head and asked politely.
“I have something to tell you.”
I thought Cherry might refuse, but surprisingly, she said yes easily, and then slipped out of the party with a smile. A slight limp was evident. Brelin was more convinced that she must be the head of the Information Guild.
Even when she was described, she was clearly a natural and invisible character, but when she met her face-to-face, it seemed that she would never be able to guess her true identity without knowing her true nature from the novel. She’s such a cute little girl, but she’s the head of such a big intelligence guild.
Cherry went to the small space next to her large status, stopped, and sat carefully not to wrinkle the hem of her dress. No one could be seen at a distance where the sound could be heard. As Brelin sat down next to her, Cherry opened her mouth first.
She said, “Since you’ve come to see me, I don’t think I need to be greeted ,a small aristocrat on the outskirts like me, from the duke’s wife. I really want to hear why.”
“It’s not a big deal, it’s just… There is something I need to ask for your help.”
“What part?”
“I would like to ask you to search a merchant ship.”
Cherry’s soft face showed no movement, but it was easily recognizable that countless thoughts were running beneath her poker face.
After a very brief moment, Cherry blinked her eyes as if she had no idea what she was talking about, and she smiled with a puzzled expression on her face.
“Searching for merchant ships?”
“Yes.”
“Why do you want that from me… As you can see, I’m just a small aristocrat. How can I do something like that… .”
Brelin cut her off and got to the point.
“I’ll give you two to eight.”
“Yes?”
“It will never be a small sum of money. 20% of the merchant ship owned by the former Duke of Vermont, which he invested in debt and lost.”
Cherry swallowed her saliva.
“I really have no idea why the Duchess is telling me this. How can I… .”
“I will not tell you to simply search for merchant ships without any clues. I know the approximate location. It was wrecked, but nothing was damaged. If it is an advance payment, you won’t be disappointed.”
“But… .”
“Three to seven.”
Cherry looked at Brelin with her face in her astonishment.
“How did you know,lady Brelin?”
“Everyone has his ways.”
“There are only a handful of people who know who I am and are still alive. Do you know that?”
“I have no intention of telling anyone, even if I was threatened. I have no intention of intimidating you with that. I just want us to be in a supportive relationship.”
Cherry looked at Brelin for a while, then raised her palm up and extended her hand, and Brelin placed her pocket of gold on the palm of her hand. Cherry waved her hand up and down a few times as if to feel the weight of the pocket, then nodded her head.
But she looked at Brelin with a look still not convinced.
“I never thought that lady Brelin was such a person. It seems that I still lack a lot.”
“So, will you accept my request?”
“No, it makes a decision after gathering more information. But accepting the advance payment is a sign of respect for finding out who I really am.”
Brelin laughed bitterly.
“That’s very… tricky.”
“In the case of a search for a sunken merchant ship, I usually don’t accept such crazy requests… It’s a new case , so it wouldn’t be a bad idea to gamble once. It’s fun. If the request is rejected, the advance payment will be returned.”
“Phew. All right. I look forward to your kind cooperation.”
Cherry shoved the small bag into her pocket and she stood up as if nothing had happened. She suddenly looked towards the pillar and slipped back in the direction we had come from.
Brelin looked at her back, and smirked. Indeed, it’s not much of a talk. She didn’t even ask who I heard it from. That means the number of people who knows about it is limited.
Now I have no choice but to wait.
Now that she is about to return to Redross’s side, Brelin got her body up, and suddenly she sees a figure moving nearby. She obviously thought she had no one was close to them earlier.
A man who suddenly jumped out of the shadow of a pillar walked straight towards her.
It wasn’t that she felt compelled to hide this conversation, and if she had to, it would be Cherry, not her.
Cherry might have known that he was there.
“This is fun. I don’t always see cherry was walking around with people.”
She was taken aback for a moment, not immediately recognizing who the person was talking to, but when she saw his purple-coloured robe, she quickly recognized who he was.
